Has anyone received a call from DVC saying that they are eligible for a special promotion? I got a voice mail from earlier today. I thought it was a little strange but I googled the number the call came from and it came up as DVC. Just wondering!!

I got this call too but answered it. It was a person letting us know DVD is contacting newer owners about a special promotion and would it be ok for our DVD salesperson to email us info. I said fine. But it is strange to have someone call to ask if they can email you!!

I got this phone call today, too. I purchased DVC last year. When I said I'd hold for my guide, she came back and told me he was unavailable and would an email be ok. I haven't gotten it yet, though.

There may be a couple of reasons for the calls. The people that are calling are lining up calls for the Guides to pitch a new deal. If they are available and you agree to talk to them, you are connected. If they are busy, you go on the email list.

Some States may have laws about unsolicited sales calls so they are calling to get your permission.

Thanks for the info! I still haven't gotten an email and now am seriously curious as to what it is.

We got the same call while we were watching American Idol on Tuesday evening and it went to voice mail.

I called the 800 number they left in the message and the guy that answered said it was indeed a new offer coming via email from my guide. He also said it was for newish members and that their new boss came up with this idea and was instructing them to contact members.

He also said they were even giving up to a $500 gift card if you took advantage of the offer.

I've checked my email and so far..... nothing from DVD has arrived. :sad2:

I got the call and called back. First, my guide left so I was given a new one. Then she sent me the e-mail. Opened the e-mail. Looked through it. Nothing to show what the incentive is. But had a link to have a guide call you back.:lmao::confused3

This would come at a perfect time for us if I'm new enough! :cool1:

May reach out to my guy - he's the best!

Something weird is going on. After I was told my previous guide was no longer there, guess who calls???? The guide!!:scared1:

He says he doesn't know why it happened but now I have to call and get him back. No offense to the new person but I just don't understand whats going on.

On the incentive....AK...100 points or more...$10 off....$500 Disney reward card until March 14.

Interesting, you would think they would offer that incentive to all current AKV owners.

We just got the same phone call. They left a message and we might call back in the morning to check it out :)

What is the current DVD price for akv? I was thinking up picking up a small add on contract here resale, but with this promo I might go direct.

We thought it was a little strange, but then felt much better when our Guide called us today and told us about the offer. It's exciting....would be nice if we could add on. My DH has a bit of addonitis, but we don't see how it will work right now. Best wishes to those who are ready.

We got a call last week from our new guide, and it ended up being the same guy I spoke to at DVC when we were first thinking of purchasing BLT after selling our SSR contracts. We decided to buy resale even though he warned us that "whoaaaa those are stripped contracts!"

I thought he was a bit much, but sure enough we ended up with that man as our guide. Must be alphabetical or something? Anyway he said something about a great incentive for new buyers if you add on as little as 25 points, but I said I would talk to my DH about it. A gift card & $10 off is not enough incentive for us, but he never did call back or email anyway. :confused3

I did receive a follow up email today (as well as another phone call) but haven't yet called back.

DW answered the phone tonight and the person was just confirming our email address so our guide (whom the caller identified correctly) could send us an email offer.

No email received yet.

Well I did speak to a manager yesterday and told I was very disturbed about what transpired. I asked for my guide back. I hope they rectify this and no other members go through this.

As for the promo, of course the guide said the prices are going up again so its better to purchase additional points. Wish it was available for BLT but it was only for AKV.

I still haven't received the email from my guide. But then again, I am waiting for the call back she said she would make back in January, 2010 when I called her cell phone. :lmao:

I'm not interested in adding on and if I was, I probably would buy resale again. Even at $10 off per point, you can save hundreds of $$ by buying resale at AKV. :rolleyes1

Disney will target their promotions where they think that they will have the greatest success. They also create a feeling of exclusivity which makes you feel special and makes you want to buy (new members only). The limited time offer is also another successful sales tactic.

Bottom line is if you want to buy direct, usually all members will qualify for the promotions offered at WDW.
