strange issue

There are many people in this world that do not study park maps and logistics of every ride and some actually come out enjoying their trip. Go, enjoy it no matter how you will like to do it. I am sure you and your DD will have a blast!

I guess I am in the minority as well. That is EXACTLY how we did our first trip, and I can still remember the magic. We did get a map once we got there, but we planned a last minute trip the first time (woke up Sunday and decided to drive and go for a week to California..but that is a whole other thread), we had no time to really even plan anything.
We walked in totally blind and I wouldn't change a second of it.
I say go for it!

As a WDW vet, I say get a map!! On our first day, we had no idea where anything was. In WDW, you can see the landmarks from most any point in the park. While at DL, you only see the area you are in. After the first time round the park, I got it down just fine. I just wished I would have "studied" up more on the lay of the lands.

I love the idea!

There was a time when a trip to Disneyland meant a long trip in the family station wagon or getting all dressed up to fly in a plane. It meant a hotel that had been booked by a travel agent and never seen before.
And it meant the only planning and previewing you did was by watching Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday night.

I remember my frist trip in 1978 like it was yesterday. We had no idea what we were in for and no idea what we would see.

And we did just fine.

Have a great time - in all the planning I do for trips nowadays I try to leave some stuff for the surprise actor.

Have an awesome time

I don't think looking at a map to familiarize yourself with the layout will mess with your magic at all. It may give you the level of peace you need to not worry about that aspect.

Also, it's not really that hard. It is the hub/spoke layout. You can methodically work your way around the park if you're real linear that way. Or you can run end to end like a spaz getting on rides. It all works! Have fun!
