strange habits your pets have?

I have a Piglet antenna topper from WDW that has turned into a toy for my cat Zoe. She will bat it around and also put it in her mouth and move it to another part of the house. After about 5 minutes of doing this, Piglet will do something to annoy her, and she will set him down and sit next to him crying for a few minutes.

This happens about 3 times per week. It is the only time that she ever cries. No matter what time of the day (or night!) that we hear her crying and we go to check up on her, she is always sitting next to Piglet.

I wish I could figure out what Piglet is doing to annoy her!

Maybe she's hunting Piglet? My Moo kitty will hunt and shred paper - receipts, newspaper, regular white sheets, etc. When she's done so, she meows loudly and incessantly without coming to find us, like she wants us to come see what she killed.

my cat...oh my cat. He's only about a year and a half old. He's great. He's VERY talkative, and very lovey.

He's fascinated by water, and will play in the sink/jump up on the toilet seat to watch the water flush. i ALMOST got him to flush it himself one night - he had his paw on the flusher and everything, just couldn't pull it down!

He also likes to jump on our laps when we're going to the bathroom...he'll lie right down, even if it stinks. :confused3

My Chow will only poop in a leafy area, which she must dig back and "hold on" to the ground almost, as she's squatting to poop. It's wicked funny, it's like she needs the extra traction.

The Chow & the cat also like to play; they'll chase each other around the yard, it's so cute.

The Great Danes LOVE to lean on people, but that's a fairly common GD trait. The oldest loves to stick her face RIGHT in front of mine - instead of giving kisses, she just like, presents the side of her nose/face so i can give her kisses & whisper sweet nothings, hahaha.

My mutt will fart and then wake up and run away cause she scared herself...

oh, and the dogs at my mom's house (my Chow, the mutt and my mom's Chocolate Lab) will ONLY drink out of the left side water dish. They're exactly the same, but only the left side one. i'll remove it to refill it, and move the one that was on the right to the left, and then replace the other one on the right side (got all that?), and they still drink from the left...so weird.

My cat has a tall-ish cat tower (it's probably about 5 1/2 feet tall or so) and every single time he climbs up into it, he sits in the little basket at the top and starts howling at either the walls (it's in a corner) or ceiling. The only way to get him to stop is to say, "Hey, you don't have to yell at the walls!" and he stops immediately. But not till I tell him to.

:lmao:

Our dog is a Boykin Spaniel. She will bring her empty food/water bowls to us. After we fill the bowls and she eats/drinks she comes back in and finds the person who filled her bowl, then she licks them 3 times on the back of the hand and goes on to play. We like how she says thank you every time.

Our dwarf hamster is our male German Shepherd's pet...

THAT is hilarious!!!

The antenna topper post reminded me of something else...Rowan will punish me if he's REALLY upset (doesn't happen often, but it does happen.) I went to WDW once and left him with my parents for the week; they have cats and dogs and Rowan always goes with me out to their house when I housesit for them, so he's well familiar with the situation and everybody there.

On this trip, I'd gotten requests from people at work for various antenna toppers, all of which I had in a small WDW shopping bag that I set on the coffee table when I got home. I had to run out to go to the store for something shortly thereafter and was gone for about 15 minutes. When I got home, it looked like one of the patriotic Mickey toppers (this was in Nov. 2001) had EXPLODED all over the living room. Rowan had carefully selected that one out of the bag and absolutely decimated it--the biggest piece I could find was about 1 cm x 1 cm. And then he just sat there, looking defiantly at me like, "Ha! Teach YOU to leave me alone for a week!" smack in the middle of the pile of Mickey bits.

we had a turtle, thrust upon us. it started out at only about 2 inches in diameter. the tank had brown stones for most of the bottom, with about 20 decorative colored glass chunks. Everytime we would clean the tank, the next morning, all the colored glass would be in a pile. sometimes a few piles sorted by bright and dark colors etc...

Our dwarf hamster is our male German Shepherd's pet. It was not planned that way, but he adopted her. He follows her hamster ball around the house to make sure that she is safe and nudges her free when she gets trapped somewhere. If he loses interest and lies down, the hamster will come over and "nudge" his nose and paws until he gets up and starts following her again.

When we adopted our female German Shepherd, we waited a couple weeks before putting the hamster in its hamster ball to roam around the house. Predictably, the female thought it was a toy and pounced on it. Our male lunged at our female (and he is normally very gentle with her when they play), grabbed her neck, and threw her off. He then stood over the hamster ball for several minutes, growling whenever the female got too close. Over the next hour, he taught our female to play "appropriately" with the hamster - meaning, the ball is not touched! Our female is now also allowed to follow around the hamster. :rotfl:

It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Awwwww, this is SO sweet! :cloud9:

My cat has this obsessive tendency to brush things into piles. I love it. He is an oddball but he is very clean. He always does it after eating. When he finishes his meal he will try to brush anything on the floor into a pile next to his dish (quite convenient when I spill the dry food). I have found dryer sheets, papers and socks either on or next to the dish. It also comes in handy when he kicks litter outside of the box.

He also helped after he spilled all of the soil out of a planter, he spent a while cleaning up that one and the roomie and I just watched in amusement.

My beagle will do this crazy thing where she runs around the house like she's chasing a rabbit for a couple of minutes most evenings. She just suddenly does it, then she plops down on the couch and falls asleep. Every beagle I have ever had (this one is my fourth) does that. Just runs like crazy once or twice a day for no reason.

My old bealge had a thing about mushrooms. I gave him a bit of something one time that had mushroom in it, he ate the rest of it but spit the mushroom out and then rolled all over it! After that we tried many times to sneak him a mushroom, but he'd always find it and roll on it!

I have four rather quirky animals...

Eowyn is my hippy cat. She loves mardi gras beads. We always cut the loop and after everyone has gone to sleep you can hear her dragging them around the house. If you jangle them, she will come running. She also loves catnip and will roll around in it and then stare at all the pretty lights.

Jasper (catpire) is our newest addition. He is the friendliest cat ever. He loves to cuddle. He also loves the dogs. He was using Eragon as a pillow last night. Today when I was taking a nap he was chewing on Matthias's leg. Jasper has to join me when I take a bath and has actually fallen in many times.

Eragon is a big scaredy dog. He loves to share my pillow. When I take a bath he will lick the water off of me. He has no pain receptors in his body. I'm sure. I have seen him run head long into a wall, bounce off, and keep going.

Matthias is my burrow baby. When I am gettin ready for bed, I will come back to find out he has completely cocooned himself in my comforter. He loves to curl up under the covers. He also thinks you play with other animals by eating their heads.
