My husband & I were in line in Walmart last night and I noticed this thin, blonde woman a few checkout lines over from us looking towards us. We waited in line a while and as I was putting my items on the belt, I felt an arm on my shoulder and she was there saying " Mam, you have beautiful eyes, I just have to tell you", as she continued to walk on and never stopped for a second. She ran her hand across my back as she was walking away. It was just strange! I watched her as she walked right on out the door so she never checked out with anything. My husband said he thought she was with a family when he saw her earlier, but I don't know. As I thought about it, it crossed my mind she might have been a pick pocket, but nothing was missing from my purse (that I can find). Then my husband said, maybe she planted something on me! That was freaking me out!! Anyway, I know there is a chance she was just being nice, but they say go with your gut and I think it was odd. I can't imagine going several aisles over in a store to tell another woman something about her was beautiful! Am I overreacting? What do you think?

Wow, that's weird. I HAVE heard of people going up to others (same sex- like in your situation) telling them they have pretty eyes, but going several check out lines over?? That is unusual. And she stroked your arm too?! Freaky. I don't know what to say... as long as you said you checked that nothing was missing on you and nothing was planted on you.

There are weird people like that out there, harmless, but just weird.... I'm sure she was just one of those- hopefully. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

First of all I probably would have thought that to be strange but I can't help but think that it is a sad commentary on the state of the world when we begin to feel nervous and suspicious because we were paid a compliment. I'm not saying I wouldn't have felt the same way it's just very sad how jaded and cynical people have become.

I've had similar stuff like that happen to me, but I don't think I was touched. There are just some very extroverted people out there and that's what it seems like to me.

I think I would not have thought a thing of it if she had stopped and made some other conversation with us. Maybe just say she had noticed my eyes from the other line and had I had time to respond with a Thank You, we might have made small talk walking out together. Like I said, it was odd the way she breezed by and never slowed down one second. And Yes, it is sad I am suspicious, but unfortunately, I have a hard time trusting any strange situation these days. I try not to watch much of the criminal type shows on TV, just listening to the news is enough to make me think about my surroundings all the time!

Certainly the person may have been an odd duck and I would have felt uncomfortable having my personal space violated ...but I think you going overboard worrying about someone planting something on you.

I would say don't give it another thought - there are many strange folks among us.

She could have been me!!!! I do that all the time! I can't help but tell someone when I think something about them is so beautiful. I usually just hope it makes them happy to hear it :confused3

Although, I don't usually touch the person unless its a tap on the shoulder to get their attention.

I was shopping in Wal-Mart on a humid summer morning. My wavy hair was even wavier than usual due to the humidity.

A little girl was shopping with her mother.

The little girl pointed at me and said, "There's the witch!"

Needless to say, I was shocked.

I hadn't said or done anything to them; I just happened to be in the same aisle.

The mother said that the girl loves "The Wizard of Oz," and thought I looked like Glenda the Good Witch.

I don't think I look like her at all, but I suppose that's better than any other explanation the mother might have given me.

Perhaps you have beautiful eyes. Have you ever been told that before? I would just take it as a compliment, more than likely the way it was intended. :)

Ok I have actually done this to someone (not the touching part though)

I once saw this beautiful older woman in a drug store. She was one of those classically beautiful people you know?

I kept seeing her through the store and I finally stopped her as I passed by and said "ma'am, I just have to tell you I think you are one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen" her eyes welled up with tears and she said "honey you will never know how much that means to me. My husband died last year and no one has said that to me since then" Then she hugged me and went on her way.

maybe she just thought you were pretty? maybe she thought you needed a lift that day?

best aunt: I don't think most kids pay attention to details when saying some one looks like an actress. She probably just thought of the poofy hair. I think I'd take that as a compliment.

When I was in elemenatry and again high school i attended a private school in a mostly black area. Of course I'm white with straight long brown hair. And all the little kids loved playing with my hair because it was so different from thier own.

I'd think the incident was a big creepy as well, but I find a lot of people at wal-mart to be creepy.

I think it was creepy she came over and complimented your eyes and then touched you. Just glad if she was a pickpocket she got nothing :sad2:

Not comfortable with the "touching".

I would think it was very odd.....

I wouldn't give it another thought. She thought your eyes were beautiful and she was a touchy feely, type person.

Some folks are just more forward than others. OP, I wouldn't worry about it.

The other day, a lady at the grocery store asked my DD if she was Dakota Fanning. It took all I had not to break out laughing at the expression on my daughter's face. It was priceless.
