I'm hoping some ppl on here can help me make a decision...Currently I have a contract with Sprint but am getting very poor reception and have been having issues with them for awhile now so they have decided if I want to cancel they will let me out of my contract based on only receiving fair reception where i live...I even have an Airrave device which is suppose to help but recently that is not doing it's job...

So because right now I really don't want to get into another contract I've been considering both Straight Talk and Verizon Prepaid plans...Currently with sprint I have the $69.99 contract that includes 450 anytime min, unlimited text, unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited data but when you add in all the tax my bill is roughly $92 a month

So i figure with Straight talk I get basically the same thing I have with sprint for $45 except they don't have a good selection of phones..some are rather expensive and don't have nearly the features that mine does..I'm just worried about the quality of their phones, quality of their service and how well their reception really is, granted I know it runs on tracfone towers

OR I can go with verzion prepaid and get 450 min, unlimited text and NO internet for $45 as well, and I have a friend who said she'd give me a phone of hers that she currently uses on verizon prepaid that's worth $80 for free..my boyfriend who lives in another state right now also has verizon but my family members have US Cellular so i'm confused if i'd have free mobile to mobile with them or not..

So do you have Straight Talk or Verizon Prepaid? How well do you like it, pros and cons? I've gotta figure something out soon because not getting reception is no longer cutting it for me and the longer i wait the more I'll incur for a bill with sprint..thanks for helping me out!

I have had StraightTalk for over a year. It is on the Verizon network so the quality is very good. I just switched to Walmart Family Mobile(TMobile network) yesterday because it would save us over $60 a month for a family of four and you get unlimited talk and text with not to expensive data. But StraightTalk is great and the customer service is better than most prepaid services. Good Luck navigating the cellular world.

If was getting Straight Talk I would get the E71x because it great phone to have.

If you have Metro PCS where you are, they have unlimited Talk,Text and web for 40.00 a month.

Let's debunk a couple of myths...

"Straight Talk" is owned/operated by Tracfone and sold exclusively at Walmart stores, around the U.S.

As with any cell phone handsets Tracfone sells, it's not going to be the latest and greatest offering - just a basic handset from well-known cell phone manufacturers. If you want the latest handset, you'll have to sign a contract, elsewhere.

As for the network, Tracfone does not own/operate their own towers. They are (in industry speak) a Mobile Virtual Network Operator, which means they lease usage of cell towers from well-known carriers. In the case of "Straight Talk", they exclusively use the Verizon Wireless network to carry all their calls. The long-time "Tracfone" brand makes use of a number of different carriers (depending on where in the U.S. you live).

Hope this clears things up.

I have Straight Talk and love it!! I had AT&T for about 10 years or more before I switched. My service has been great and my cell phone reception has been fantastic! I pay around $49 a month for unlimited everything, we saved about $130 dollars by switching which is why we switched but the service is alot better in my area. My DH even gave up his iphone and doesn't complain because because his calls are not dropped all the time now!!
