Great reviews! We are trying boma breakfast in August for the first time!:goodvibes

Thank you! I hope you'll love it!

Thank you for the great review of Boma. We are going there in Sept for breakfast and it is nice to know they have " all white egg omelets" since my DH can't have yokes, they make him sick. Thanks for saying that in your review.

My mom is the same way with eggs. I saw the guy making the omelets, basically they have a bunch of eggs already whipped and they take a ladle to portion the eggs in the pan. I assume they have the same for egg-whites.

I'm in! I'm a total sucker (and drooler) for food porn! Good job on the descriptions and great pics. Can't wait for more!

Thank you! I am too!

great reviews...thanks for sharing!! im noticing on the f&w pics, they dont have the snack thingys on the menus for the dining plan...thats strange...i member them being on there during our trip...hmmm..

Yeah, I noticed that last year when I took all of the pictures, and I also heard some people asking CMs who worked the booths. I believe that anything 4 dollars and under was allowed as a snack during the F&W festival.

I'm loving your reviews, and now really looking forward to our first Boma breakfast on our next trip.

Yes, me too! I wish I had some pap right now!

No, thank you for reading!

Luvin' this thread, thanks for the awesome reviews! :worship:

Thanks! I will post again later today (hopefully, if homework doesn't pile up!).

I agree with your Boma 100%, it is hands down our favorite place to eat at. We went at 7:30 and 8 am and the place was empty. We went last month at 10 and the place was jammed!

We will be at AKL in 20 days and I booked Boma for dinner our first night but now I think I am going to book breakfast for the morning we leave. That food looks so good.

I just booked. I was able to get in at 8:00 am. I can't wait!! Aug. is never going to get here.

NO, really, great reviews!

I know how you feel. Sometimes seeing the food pics has a negative impact.

In Disney World, it is often SO much to do, but NEVER enough time!

We will be at AKL in 20 days and I booked Boma for dinner our first night but now I think I am going to book breakfast for the morning we leave. That food looks so good.

A morning away breakfast at Boma sounds good. its relatively cheap for 16.99 per adult. Perhaps you can spare the expense? :goodvibes

I know that there are many traditions being held at Disney World. Whether its a certain order you have to use while touring the park or a restaurant that you have to go to--traditions are abound.

For example, Dustin and I love Tony's Town Square for lunch on our first Magic Kingdom days. We also like playing checkers on Main Street right before we eat.

And many others will agree that it is a tradition to have something from Aloha Isle, either a dole whip float or soft serve (maybe even a big juicy pineapple spear).

It is not the most gourmet thing you will ever eat. Nor is it exquisitely special or delicious. And it is not something that tells me "I am at Disney World." But... it gives you a slice of paradise.

IMG_0981.jpg

I order the dole whip float whenever I am hungry, and the plain pineapple soft serve when I do not want something big. But perhaps just standing in that long line makes ya hungry, no? I mean, what is it with Aloha Isle's line?! It is ALWAYS long and takes at least 10 minutes to get to the front counter. IDK something about dis'ers spilling the secrets out to everyone? Hah! This has to be the only negative thing about getting a dole whip pineapple float/soft serve.

It has to be pineapple. Where else but Disney World can I get pineapple dole whip? No where. That right there explains my reasoning.

Here it is in the cup:

IMG_0652.jpg

Blurry pineapple whip! :3dglasses

And Dustin does not like pineapple flavored things, so he gets plain old vanilla and chocolate swirl.

IMG_0653.jpg

Boring to me, but he loves that it is denser than regular soft serve.

But not me, I enjoy pineapple flavored things... see?

IMG_0380.jpg

Want some?:thumbsup2

Now why do I believe that it does live up to it's name if I do not think it is the most delicious thing? Well, it is very good, but picture this:

It is hot. Or humid. Maybe even both. You have just spent some wonderful time with your loved ones (or even just enjoying it by yourself!), in a fun-filled dare I say, "magical", place, but now you are slightly parched, sweaty, and perhaps slightly annoyed with the heat and/or bright sun.

You get a dole whip pineapple soft serve/float, then backtrack some steps to the sitting area (beware though if you are sensitive to smoke, it is a smoking area--some dis'ers like to call it the "smoker's den"), or perhaps a bench and sit down. Look around you. You are right near some trees, the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, or perhaps a little farther down where the Aladdin's Carpets are. There are birds chirping. Or if it is during summer, cicadas or churring. Kids are screaming with laughter, parents are running after them or even scolding. Just listen. Then smell. You might smell popcorn, or the nut stand from the Jungle Cruise somehow wafted itself to your senses.

Close your eyes, breathe. Then take a spoonful of the dole whip pineapple soft serve, eat it, and close your eyes again. The combination of the sounds, smells, and the taste of the pineapple just refreshes everything. It really does give you a little slice of paradise, doesn't it?

And that, everyone, is why I believe that the dole whip lives up to its name.

Up next--Pop Century Food Court for breakfast. It is good on most occasions, but their eggs can be... well... ;)

Why is it that when you order something, and you like it, it often becomes THE thing that you order at that place?

Well, that is kind of what I am like at Pop Century's Food Court. We never go there for lunch or dinner--we just don't bother for that time of day having to deal with CS (especially at the resort). We always go to the food courts for breakfast since we never miss rope drop (no flames! its a gift.... and a curse....) therefore, we are always there early!

Pop Century food court is spaced out nicely. Even when it is crowded, you do not feel claustophobic and cramped into a tight space. There are several stations that sell different items (and some that sell the same! so look before you go in line!) and right before you go in line to the stations you pick up a tray and then order. I love Pop Century food court for the ambiance! I know--its a food court! But they ALWAYS have late 80's and 90's era songs playing that I recognize... there is ALWAYS seating available and Dustin is ALWAYS in awe of whichever morning cartoon is playing on the big screen. Yeah yeah, he loves cartoons... even if it is something extremely kiddish and for toddlers... like Dora the Explorer or whatever.

And sometimes, if you get there at the right time, you might see the Pop CMs doing the twist!

IMG_2319.jpg

I don't think they do this during crowded times, as they wouldn't have any room to do it!

On to the food. I almost always order the vegetable frittatta.

IMG_0434.jpg

IMG_0430.jpg

It is basically a bunch of roasted and sauteed veggies, potatoes and eggs baked into a round casserole dish with swiss/tangy cheese melted on top. Then, it is sliced into portions and put on a plate for you. It also comes with a side of breakfast potatoes. The reason why I love this is number one, it is cheap at $4.99. Number two, it is loaded with veggies and it is never overcooked! You see, I hate overcooked eggs. Now, I don't like eggs runny either... they have to be fluffy and just right. It is also the reason why I never allow Dustin to make eggs for us... he always overcooks them and I just can't have that!

Sometimes the cheese is not melted all the way, but that is fine since it is swiss and it doesn't get too hard when it sits for a little while.

Now Dustin, well he always gets the adult breakfast platter.

IMG_0435.jpg

Whoa baby! Lots of food for 6 bucks!

It is eggs with breakfast potatoes, a biscuit, sausage patty, and bacon. The basics. Just what Dustin loves about breakfast. Meat, more meat, carbs, and starch. I have to agree, the size for the price is nice, and he always enjoys it and never complains about the temperature or taste.

Here is the bad. It might be a curse. But whatever. Every time we decide to share something, whether its the adult breakfast platter (sans meat for me) or even these pancakes with a side of eggs (pictured below), the eggs are always overcooked! Uggh!

IMG_2320.jpg

And I don't mean just overcooked. I mean rubbery, cold, measly little pieces of egg. No thank you. They have to get their eggs right because everytime we just have eggs, it tastes like provisions from WWII.

But Pop Century food court redeems itself with free cups of maple syrup that we like to dip our breakfast potatoes in (are we the only ones who do this??) and Mott's Apple Juice on their vending machines (which we gladly put into our refillable mugs). I know that is special, since the Caribbean Beach food court and Roaring Forks over at WL never have juice on the machines nor breakfast syrup readily available (you would have to ask a CM at those locations).

Yeah yeah, i like to type.

Next up: Earl of Sandwich.

Hello? Is anyone there? ;)

Earl of Sandwich is wonderful! Even though there is always a line, it moves quickly. Thank goodness, because their sandwiches rock!

The inside is dark and rustic-looking:
IMG_0821.jpg

With of course, a long line!

IMG_0820.jpg

But the sandwiches? Well, they are good being eaten inside and outside!

IMG_0822.jpg

My ultimate grilled cheese sandwich with no bacon but substituted for tomatoes (on the side :confused3 )

IMG_0823.jpg

Dustin's Hawaiian with no pinapple.

IMG_0462.jpg

A caprese with delicious fresh mozzarella.

IMG_0464.jpg

And dustin's scudetto.

All of these sandwiches are so fresh and filled with fillings... but shhh, its the bread that makes them great! Apparantly they are finished baking per order, meaning those puppies are hot, crispy, chewy, and mouth-wateringly good.
And at 5.75 per sandwich, it is a pretty good deal. They also have salads, brownies, cupcake tops, chips, and others I am sure. If you have time to make it to downtown disney, don't worry about waiting in line because in 10 minutes you will have one of the best sandwiches you have ever had.

Next, Goofy's Candy Company....

I love the tomato mozzarella from EOS...it is awesome!

We may have to sneak this place in on our upcoming trip, maybe swap out Wolfgang Puck Express for it?

This one is a special triple post! I know I am going to be swamped with homework this weekend, plus I have a big test to study for... so why not?

First up is Goofy's Candy Company. If you ever have a chance to go to DTD, first eat at Earl of Sandwich, then mosey on over to Goofy's Candy Company for some delicious make your own treats.

You can choose from marshmellows, pretzel rods, gingerbread cookie, fudge cream filled cookie, and an apple. Then, it can me dipped, drenched, and covered in any amount that you want from the list provided. And it is a relatively low price (or one snack credit!) Except for the apples, those are more expensive than the others.

You fill out what you want, then hand it to the CM who makes your creation (you can watch them too) and then sets it in their fridge for about 5 minutes. The whole process is fun, but a little lengthy, so if you are in a hurry, pick out one of their already made treats.

Here is Dustin's creation:

IMG_0472.jpg

:worship:

Isn't it huge?? Marshmellows dipped in milk chocolate, dipped in butterfinger on one side, then dipped in oreo cookie, sprinkles, AND drizzled with white chocolate.... AND caramel!

This bad boy must of had a thousand grams of sugar. And Dustin ate the WHOLE thing... in ONE sitting!

IMG_0473.jpg

Mine was a little more reserved:

IMG_0474.jpg

Pretzel rods dipped in dark chocolate, then peanuts, and drizzled with caramel. It was sooo good. Sugary, but fresh and sinfully sweet.

Next is Old Port Royale food court.

We just got breakfast and some snacks here.

Our first time there we just wanted some snacks for breakfast, nothing too big. Okay, thats fine, so I go over to the counter where you can pick your own snacks, and I pick a nice respectable bagel.

IMG_0630.jpg

Yes, its just a bagel, but Dustin insisted! All I can say was that it was fresh. Soft and chewey. But they make you pay for the packets of cream cheese! And i cannot have a bagel without cream cheese! Urgh, so i forked over more money... I'm still not over that!

Dustin got this... THING. I thought he was going to get just a croissant or something, but no a chocolate sugary muffin was his poison of choice.

IMG_0551.jpg

IMG_0552.jpg

It was good, but not great. Dustin liked it enough, but it was very dry and didn't have anything inside to make it moister like some chocolate chips or whatnot. It was also excessively sugary from the extra sugar piled ontop.

Anyway, another day we each got a mickey waffle.

Disney12-06-2006002.jpg

This was Dustin's with sausage. Look at what the CM did!

He liked it enough. I think the one he got wasn't as well done as mine, which made it a little mushy on the middle. He loved the sausage patties, though.

Disney12-06-2006003.jpg

Mine was with strawberry sauce and it was de-lish. The waffle was perfectly cooked, and unlike Dustin's, the middle was fluffy and the outside was crispy. A perfect waffle.

One afternoon we shared a croissant too.

IMG_0553.jpg

Buttery, but COLD! I wish it were warm! Plus, I don't think it was all that fresh either. So all in all, we rank Old Port Royale from the Caribbean Beach Resort under and sub-par to Pop Century's food court.

Next is Sci-Fi. This was a lunch that we had on our leaving day. The night before I was itching to go here but they were booked solid, so they managed to make an ADR here for lunch the next day. It turned out great since it was FREEZING (it was early February) and we needed somewhere to turn to so we can get out of the cold.

I believe the time was at 1:30. We arrived early and checked in. I asked for us to have the first row in a car since I did NOT want to stare at the back of another family. Sorry, to the family that had to look at us!

We waited for about 10 minutes and stared at the hostess stand.

Disney12-06-2006010.jpg

It kind of looks like the restaurant itself is a backdrop, don't it? Thats 'cuz it is! The illusion was wonderful! The clips were hilariously corny and embarrassing, the seats were very cool, and I just loved the overall atmosphere.

We both ordered diet cokes, and Dustin wanted a cheeseburger, so he got his with cheddar and bacon.

Disney12-06-2006017.jpg

He loveeeed his burger. Probably because he doesn't have many beef burgers unless its a special occasion or if he is at Disney. Also, it was plump! He hates flat little patties (aka the normal disney burger) but said that it was very juicy and smokey from the bacon.

I orderd the seared tofu with rice pilaf and mango sauce.

Disney12-06-2006016.jpg

First of all, it was room temperature! Like it was sitting at the servers' station for a little while! Also, the rice was bland! I almost asked for some salt and pepper to season it, because it tasted like boiled white rice and mush vegetables. Blegh. I didn't eat most of the rice, but what I did enjoy was the tofu and mango sauce itself. The tofu was seasoned nicely, seared to make it somewhat crispy, but still chewey. I am not a fan of tofu. In fact, I only eat it if it is firm and has a meaty texture. This had that and the mango sauce just topped it off so it actually tasted something other than... soft water.

We also shared a classic hot fudge sundae. It had vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. It was good, but nothing special because I have had that version a thousand times before. Plus, I regretted eating it after going into the cold again! But, it redeemed itself because it was such an old-fashioned classic thing to eat while in a drive-inn!

The server was very good as well, even though I don't remember his name. He played with us more than our server at '50s Prime Time (later)! I also saw a server on roller skates. Another thing, the place was quiet... almost too quiet. When there is a huge screen in front of you, barely anyone talks. In fact, Dustin and I barely talked the whole meal because we were too enthralled with the funny scenes!

So all in all, I would rate Goofy's Candy Company's experience a 9/10. Old Port Royale Food Court gets a 6/10, and Sci-Fi gets a 7/10 (something I am glad I did, but will not do anytime sooner... but we just might because of the limited table service options at DHS).

Up next, Rose and Crown lunch x2, aka, Are you gonna finish all of that sticky toffee pudding??
