This one is a special triple post! I know I am going to be swamped with homework this weekend, plus I have a big test to study for... so why not?
First up is Goofy's Candy Company. If you ever have a chance to go to DTD, first eat at Earl of Sandwich, then mosey on over to Goofy's Candy Company for some delicious make your own treats.
You can choose from marshmellows, pretzel rods, gingerbread cookie, fudge cream filled cookie, and an apple. Then, it can me dipped, drenched, and covered in any amount that you want from the list provided. And it is a relatively low price (or one snack credit!) Except for the apples, those are more expensive than the others.
You fill out what you want, then hand it to the CM who makes your creation (you can watch them too) and then sets it in their fridge for about 5 minutes. The whole process is fun, but a little lengthy, so if you are in a hurry, pick out one of their already made treats.
Here is Dustin's creation:
Isn't it huge?? Marshmellows dipped in milk chocolate, dipped in butterfinger on one side, then dipped in oreo cookie, sprinkles, AND drizzled with white chocolate.... AND caramel!
This bad boy must of had a thousand grams of sugar. And Dustin ate the WHOLE thing... in ONE sitting!
Mine was a little more reserved:
Pretzel rods dipped in dark chocolate, then peanuts, and drizzled with caramel. It was sooo good. Sugary, but fresh and sinfully sweet.
Next is Old Port Royale food court.
We just got breakfast and some snacks here.
Our first time there we just wanted some snacks for breakfast, nothing too big. Okay, thats fine, so I go over to the counter where you can pick your own snacks, and I pick a nice respectable bagel.
Yes, its just a bagel, but Dustin insisted! All I can say was that it was fresh. Soft and chewey. But they make you pay for the packets of cream cheese! And i cannot have a bagel without cream cheese! Urgh, so i forked over more money... I'm still not over that!
Dustin got this... THING. I thought he was going to get just a croissant or something, but no a chocolate sugary muffin was his poison of choice.
It was good, but not great. Dustin liked it enough, but it was very dry and didn't have anything inside to make it moister like some chocolate chips or whatnot. It was also excessively sugary from the extra sugar piled ontop.
Anyway, another day we each got a mickey waffle.
This was Dustin's with sausage. Look at what the CM did!
He liked it enough. I think the one he got wasn't as well done as mine, which made it a little mushy on the middle. He loved the sausage patties, though.
Mine was with strawberry sauce and it was de-lish. The waffle was perfectly cooked, and unlike Dustin's, the middle was fluffy and the outside was crispy. A perfect waffle.
One afternoon we shared a croissant too.
Buttery, but COLD! I wish it were warm! Plus, I don't think it was all that fresh either. So all in all, we rank Old Port Royale from the Caribbean Beach Resort under and sub-par to Pop Century's food court.
Next is Sci-Fi. This was a lunch that we had on our leaving day. The night before I was itching to go here but they were booked solid, so they managed to make an ADR here for lunch the next day. It turned out great since it was FREEZING (it was early February) and we needed somewhere to turn to so we can get out of the cold.
I believe the time was at 1:30. We arrived early and checked in. I asked for us to have the first row in a car since I did NOT want to stare at the back of another family. Sorry, to the family that had to look at us!
We waited for about 10 minutes and stared at the hostess stand.
It kind of looks like the restaurant itself is a backdrop, don't it? Thats 'cuz it is! The illusion was wonderful! The clips were hilariously corny and embarrassing, the seats were very cool, and I just loved the overall atmosphere.
We both ordered diet cokes, and Dustin wanted a cheeseburger, so he got his with cheddar and bacon.
He loveeeed his burger. Probably because he doesn't have many beef burgers unless its a special occasion or if he is at Disney. Also, it was plump! He hates flat little patties (aka the normal disney burger) but said that it was very juicy and smokey from the bacon.
I orderd the seared tofu with rice pilaf and mango sauce.
First of all, it was room temperature! Like it was sitting at the servers' station for a little while! Also, the rice was bland! I almost asked for some salt and pepper to season it, because it tasted like boiled white rice and mush vegetables. Blegh. I didn't eat most of the rice, but what I did enjoy was the tofu and mango sauce itself. The tofu was seasoned nicely, seared to make it somewhat crispy, but still chewey. I am not a fan of tofu. In fact, I only eat it if it is firm and has a meaty texture. This had that and the mango sauce just topped it off so it actually tasted something other than... soft water.
We also shared a classic hot fudge sundae. It had vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. It was good, but nothing special because I have had that version a thousand times before. Plus, I regretted eating it after going into the cold again! But, it redeemed itself because it was such an old-fashioned classic thing to eat while in a drive-inn!
The server was very good as well, even though I don't remember his name. He played with us more than our server at '50s Prime Time (later)! I also saw a server on roller skates. Another thing, the place was quiet... almost too quiet. When there is a huge screen in front of you, barely anyone talks. In fact, Dustin and I barely talked the whole meal because we were too enthralled with the funny scenes!
So all in all, I would rate Goofy's Candy Company's experience a 9/10. Old Port Royale Food Court gets a 6/10, and Sci-Fi gets a 7/10 (something I am glad I did, but will not do anytime sooner... but we just might because of the limited table service options at DHS).
Up next, Rose and Crown lunch x2, aka, Are you gonna finish all of that sticky toffee pudding??
