Long story short...our family summer home in Myrtle Beach was broken into. Nothing was taken thank God, ADT scared them away but we need to make an emergency trip down for about 6 days to straighten things out. This was NOT in the budget nor were the repairs this person (and I use that term loosely) cost us.

The oven doesn't work at the house and we can only use the stove top. We don't want to eat out too much so what are your best economical stove top meals OTHER than pasta please...lol;)

Any and all ideas welcome. Thanks so much!!

I'm sorry about your house. How about beef stew, tacos, fajitas?

Tacos and fajitas are all table top. Do you have a crock pot either there or that you could take with you? That would help give you more options.

First off, sorry to hear about the break in and the hassle you have to go through in dealing with it. Here are some ideas :
soup,
stew,
chicken& dumplings,
hot wings ( you can deep fry or boil then add hot sauce)
steak sandwiches & chips or fries,
burgers,
steamed or boiled hot dogs ( gag),
pancakes,
eggs ( omelets) n bacon & potatoes
, meatball sandwiches,
sloppy joes,
steak and fried potatoes,
quesadillas ( spell that right?). I'd gladly tell you how i cook these things on the stove if you haven't before : )

Breakfast for dinner (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes)
Tacos
Fajitas
Beef stew
soups
burgers
hotdogs
I use a grill pan and make indoor grilled chicken
mashed potatoes
you can bake a potato in the microwave

SOUP!
Real easy one:
-on medium, in stock pot brown 4 pieces of bacon, remove the bacon
-in the drippings cook a finely chopped sweet onion until translucent, remove
-up the heat, add 6 cups of chicken broth and 1.5 pounds of peeled and cubed potatoes. bring to a simmer, lower to low medium, cover and cook until potatoes are soft, about 15 minutes.
-take 2 cups of potatoes and 1 cup of broth and smooth in a food processor or blender
-return onions and serve with bacon crumbled on top and cheddar cheese.

Wow that sounds good except for me I would eliminate the cheese because I'm one of the few people who hates cheese.

Sorry for the break in!!! FYI - it is supposed to be kinda cool down here (for this time of year!) for the next few days, so take that into acct w/ whatever clothes you are packing. Highs low-mid 60's, lows low-mid 40s, rain a couple of days.

I was thinking crockpot too. Then the OP could make the super-simple boneless skinless chicken breasts with a jar of salsa and a can of black beans.

Is there a grill at the house? If so I'd use that for a least a few meals.

Take your crock pot and electric fry pan and you can cook most anything! Micowavable steam veggies are great. Meat in Crock=pot or stir-fried in electric fry pan. Baked potato is great in a crock pot. I have even done rice though that's a little tricky. If you are a dessert family, do puddings or ready made desserts and buy bread!

Glad nothing was taken. Enjoy a week at the beach. This is our favorite time to go to Myrtle Beach!!!!
