Storytellers Breakfast

Who has been to Storytellers for the character breakfast??? what did you think?? how was the food??? What characaters did you see while there?? Any tips??

It's my favorite character breakfast because it is a bit tamer and more laid back than the others. I like that you can order off the menu instead of doing the all-you-can-eat (make sure you stuff yourself to get your money's worth) buffet. Banana stuffed french toast is YUMMY. I've always had exceptional service here as well.

Characters are woodsy themed characters such as: Chip, Dale, Baloo, Brer Bear, Brer Fox, Meeko, Timon, Koda, Kenai, and I have seen Pinocchio there as well (I guess because he's made of wood??)

Ever since Danger Mouse said in a post a while back that she had seen Pinocchio there once, I have been thinking of how DLR could tie him into the woodsy/jungly character theme and have come up empty! The ONLY correlation I can think of is what Danger Mouse said - maybe because he's made wood? Because he certainly didn't live in a jungle, forest or the woods! Was Gepetto's shop/cottage in the woods? I also have a picture with Pluto at Storytellers, and Pluto seems out of place in comparison to who's there now, but that was taken in 2001, so I figured back then they were just sticking any old characters in there to attract guests. However, AmericanItGirl said she saw Pluto there not long ago...so there goes my theory!!

So let's just say that the characters are mostly woodsy and jungly Disney characters, with occasional guest appearances from characters of questionable backgrounds!! In addition to Pluto, the two times I have done the Storytellers character meal, obviously Chip and Dale have been there, I've seen Baloo, Rafiki, Timon, Meeko, Koda and Kenai. There have also been rumors that a couple of Br'er characters from Song of the South have shown up in the past.

One time I ordered off the menu and one time I did the buffet. I thought the buffet was okay, but not enough choices for my liking and what I ate I wasn't that thrilled with. It was good enough to recommend to someone to try, but not anything I needed to go back there for again. Now the one time I ordered off the menu for the character meal, in 2007, the breakfast I had was literally only a few dollars cheaper than the buffet at that time, and it was about the size of a Denny's Grand Slam - or smaller. So I could justify spending $$$ on a buffet much more than I could justify spending $17-$18 one that size of breakfast from the menu.

Also, I was not thrilled with the characters. I love Chip, Dale and Baloo, but I can see all of them over at Goofy's. I could take or leave Koda, Kenai and Terk; and Rafiki and Meeko and are not enough of a draw for me to go back. At this rate, I like eating at Storytellers better for regular, non-character meals. The lunch and dinner menu prices seem to make more sense to me than the outrageous breakfast menu price. But it was not a 'bad' buffet or a bad character meal, by any means. I would probably eat there again only if I were with someone who insisted upon it, but I would most likely skip it otherwise. It's just a personal preference. There is not anything there that lures me back, and I've done it twice. That's enough for now - unless they add in some other characters. I'll stick with my tried and true favorite (Goofy's) and also try the Minnie and Friends and Lilo & Stitch meals at some point. Those characters are more appealing to me.

We had breakfast at Storyteller's in December with my parents-my dad is very picky about food, and we were all very happy. We didn't have any kids with us and we liked the low key atmosphere. We saw about 4 characters while we were there-Chip and Dale and Baloo and another bear-Koda or Kenai? We wanted pictures with Chip and Dale and they were very accommodating...we kind of waved at the other guys and they waved at us and moved along...no pressure for character interaction we didn't need.

We really enjoyed the food-not the largest spread in the world, but plenty...we loved the Mickey waffles they bring to your table. In fact, when we got home and I showed my 5 year old niece (who has never been to DL, but is going with us in December this year!) the pictures she saw the waffles and said that's what she wanted to go to Disneyland for. Ahh, a girl after my own heart.

The best part was that we had 8:30 reservations and when we were done with brunch were able to walk right into DCA...my dad is a bit mobility challenged and this was a big help. We'll probably do the same thing this December. (We DID have to show our receipt from the restaurant to get in through the entrance from the GCH, I've heard different things from different people about that, so it probably just depends on who is at the turnstile that morning.)

I love Storyteller's Cafe. High quality food. Nice atmosphere. Character interaction is personal. Can order off the menu. Not crowded.
