Storybook Dining Portion Sizes?

I'm considering Storybook Dining as one of our ADRs for our September trip, but I'm noticing that it's described as "family style" and I'm wondering if it will simply be too much food for just my fiancee and myself?

I haven't done a family style meal at Disney in probably 10 years and have never done Storybook Dining so sorry if this is a stupid question, haha

I'm mainly wondering if they look at the party size and adjust the portion sizes accordingly for appetizers/desserts? I know entrees are singular so that's not the potential issue I'm having

The individual appetizers and desserts are tiny, and you’re served one per person. I felt like they “added up” to one normal size appetizer and one dessert apiece. It’s not like some meals where they bring platters of food for your party to divide up themselves. So no worries!

Sorry to jump in, but now I have a question! I am booked to go in August. I didnt read this was "family style". Can you explain how this works? Do we all have to get the same entree/app/dessert

We just dined there last week. Appetizer portions are mini, but they brought us more servings without us asking. We had more shrimp than we could eat! Entree portions were generous. We really enjoyed our experience!!!

No, it's really not family style. Everyone picks their own entree and you get it on a plate for just you. They bring one of all the desserts and one of all the appetizers for each person. You don't have to choose one. I suppose it's family style in the sense that they put the apps and desserts in the middle of the table on one plate, but they are already divided up so no need to do that yourself.

I understood the entree part I was just confused/concerned about apps/desserts
I guess it's just "misleading" descriptions on the WDW website then!
Thank you :)

Thanks everyone for your swift and helpful responses, I'm glad I'm not the only one who was confused about this!

So "family style" now means different things at different restaurants at WDW. Normally, this means that everyone at the table is served the same large bowl/plate of appetizers (typically bread and a salad), dinner (normally a platter of meat, vegetables, and other sides), and dessert that you all share.

At Storybook Dining, the appetizers and desserts are family style, but you order your entrees individually. So, no, you don't have to get the same entree, but you all get the same appetizers and desserts. Hope that helps!

Where did you see it described as "family style"? I have not seen that anywhere. Are you confusing it with Whispering Canyon Cafe?
If it is too much food, you don/t have to eat it.
I think you must really have confused it with another restaurant.

I don't understand what confused you. Try reading these reviews and looking at the pictures. It is not "family style".
You have must have mixed this up with Whispering Canyon Cafe or another restaurant.

Okay I just posted twice about how it says on the WDW website that it's family-style lol
I'm not pulling this from thin air or confusing it with anything else, it's described that way by WDW

I agree with you. It is there, and certainly should not be.
Now I understand your confusion.
Thank you, I'm glad we're on the same page haha
I had seen reviews/posts by others on this forum but the fact that WDW themselves describe it as family-style on the site makes absolutely no sense
All good, no hard feelings lol

I love that it's tagged as both "A la carte" AND "family style" by WDW

Super confusing ordeal, it's definitely one of the most unique dining situations at WDW. No, it definitely will not be too much food for you guys. If you're going to be on the DDP, it's a fantastic use of one credit. As others have mentioned, it's a three course "prix fixe" menu where you'll have the option to choose your own entrees, but you'll be served the same appetizers and desserts, so it's not really family style in the way restaurants like 'Ohana and Hoop Dee Doo are.

Tiny portions, they say the soup is 3-4 spoons. It is the charming and unique presentation that is the special aspect.

Basically, you all get all of the appetizers and desserts. (BTW, they will bring you more of any appetizer or dessert if you ask nicely) and you each pick an entree and a soft drink. If you are on the DDP, you can get an alcoholic or non-alcoholic specialty drink as well.
