story on VB

Thanks so much for sharing the link. I imagine they've got quite a mess to clean up.

I was wondering how dues will be affected by this. You think of it going up because of deductibles that have to be paid on the insurance. On the other hand, alot of resort services that are paid by dues are not being used. Housekeeping, front desk, utilities, etc. Were those cm's put on unemployment? Wondering if there is some kind of reimbursement by the power company for their employees staying there?

I actually spoke to a CM who works in the gift shop at VB. I had called to request a DVC watch before the last storm hit. She said they were evacuating, but took my number and promised to call me when they were allowed back. She called Friday to tell me that since they won't be opening until Nov. 8th, she couldn't sell me the watch before then(another long story). But she did say that she was helping with the cleanup-removing debris, shoveling sand out of the walkways around the pool, etc. I said , "Wow, I guess your job description has changed drastically." She said everyone was helping in whatever way they could. She described alot of the damage, and said the beach had been practically washed out. I wonder if housekeeping has changed their duties as well, and are assisting in the cleanup? Perhaps, since their traditional jobs are not able to be performed, they can still get paid if they show up and help out?

I thanked her for calling me, and said I wasn't concerned about the watch, but wished everyone there a speedy recovery. Even in the midst of a tragedy, she took the time to call me to let me know she still had my watch on hold. Amazing.
