This morning I was watching the Today Show while getting ready for work. There was a reporter interviewing a guy from LA when they noticed a strange noise. Apparently a dolphin came in with the storm surge and was trapped in a marshy area near the road. They said something about getting the Coast Guard to help but I haven't heard anything else about it. Did they successfully rescue the dolphin? Does anyone know?

I believe that it was a porpoise and not a dolphin and I also thought that I heard that they did successfully rescue the trapped animal. I tried a search of the web, but couldn't find a concrete answer to your question.

the reporter's name was Kerry Sanders -- he's been with NBCX news for years -- and it was most definitely a dolphin. I saw the promo.


a few weeks ago they ran a story about some dolphin in an aquarium in Mississippi, that were washed out to sea. they formed a pod. some of them were rescued and temoprarily housed in hotel swimming pool. the rest were supposed to be resuced. I didn't see the Kerry Sanders story, but I suspect the dolphin he rescued (the promo said he rescued the animal) was one of the aqwuarium dolphins.
