It won't be in writing anywhere, but I always believed pool hopping was an added "perk" because DVD somehow suspected from the very start that some members wouldn't be satisfied with the OKW pool.
OK--NOW back to the restaurant Boards!

OK, maybe we should do away with PH except for OKW members, LOL.

would hate to see a lot of complaints hasten it's demise.
Agreed. Given the crowding currently at SAB, its limitation makes very reasonable sense, regardless if emotionally some disagree.

But there is still a very wonderful perk of pool hopping available, and I really liked the idea one member shared of taking a break from the MK and heading over to the Poly or Contemporary pool to cool off. Sounds like a wonderful idea and is still very much available. I guess the same thing goes for Epcot and MGM at Luna Park Pool.

But to the point quoted above, I think what your saying makes great sense, too much unecessary complaining regarding reasonable limitations may hasten the demise of this perk. SAB is crowded now, adding BCV will make it worse.
If you want to use SAB, stay at BCV, it's available to ALL members in the 7 month window. BCV won't have the views, the space, lower point standard views, walk to a petting zoo, and several of the other advantages that other DVC resorts have. So they have SAB with a little less crowding, why not.

With all due respect, I think we're reaching a stage where it's time to "get over it" already. This has been known on this board for a long time. Each resort has it's advantages. Stay in all of them and enjoy the variety. Use your points to stay at BCV and enjoy SAB, we're all members.

Actually, there was a survey mailed out to a representative sample of OKW members. The pool enhancement question was voted down handily.

The thing that gets under my skin about this topic is the impression that it's all about money. Maybe it's hard to believe, but people like OKW the way it is.

We are owners and we certainly like OKW the way it is. Our kids are 8,8, and 5 and it is easier to keep track of them at the quiet pools at OKW. When we stay at BWV, they like the keister coaster, but many times the pool is like "human soup' it is so crowded. I am afraid that closing SAB to pool hopping may increase the crowds at Luna Park as BWV residents stay at their home pool more.

AKL was never a PH location,(some bogus excuse about pool hoppers stressing out the animals), but if the opening of VWL didn't eliminate WL from PH inventory then what is their logic behind BCV knocking out SAB ?

Let's see, no one PH to OKW so OKW guests have four pools to themselves plus BWV and WL.
BCV owners get SAB all to themselves plus all other DCV pools.

Sounds like BWV and VWL are getting shortchanged.

Captain Midnight, you said it best!! I LIKE my OKW quiet pools and have never considered hopping to ANY of the others because it is difficult for clothes changing etc. Besides, I do NOT go to WDW to take in the pools! I can do that right here in town without flying down to Florida! If pool hopping to SAB makes it too crowded for the folks registered there, that would be just plain WRONG. Get over it and if you HAVE to do SAB...stay at BCV!

While I am sure this is true for many members, I would bet there are many that don't want their dues raised, since they can reap the benefits (at no cost to them) at other DVC resorts.
Well, those many OKW members must not post on this board, because I have yet to see a single person object to this on monetary terms. Maybe we're all part of some vast OKW conspiracy to cover up our true agenda.

I'll say it again... pool-hopping from OKW is a hassle. No one in their right mind would do it just to save a few cents per point in dues. As I said (and someone else seconded), my few pool hopping experiences were to check out another resort, and definitely not for financial reasons, or because I was unhappy with OKW's facilities.

Apparently this is really hard to believe for some reason, but it's the truth.

There are those that have posted in the past that they didn't want to pay extra fees for this. I'm certain the percent of pool hopping members is fairly small so the benefits would be paid by many for few. Personally, I'm not a pool person so I could care less. The family doesn't really like SAB that much .

LOL KNWVIKING! :D

Hey, I'm just happy that when we went to VWL the quiet pool wasn't "under maintainance"! :)

I definately do not want my dues raised. We never pool hop. Never even tried it, don't understand what the whole fascination is with pool hopping. Just don't get it. To me, it's more of a pain to go all the way to a different hotel just to use a different pool. I'm perfectly happy using the pool at whichever DVC resort we are staying at. What's the big deal? Like there's a big difference? A pool's a pool! Someone please explain this phenomenon to me!

I guess that those of us who will continue to poolhop over to SAB from BWV will henceforth be known as the :

DVC SCUM OF THE EARTH!!!!!!

I'm scared:( :( . I'm very scared:( :( :( . I wonder if they'll start putting up WANTED POSTERS for any DVCers who are caught in the act but escape:rolleyes:    .......

We have never pool hopped:o ........don't undertstand the attraction of it like Diane says(we have pools in Ohio also)
If we want to go to a water park, we go to Blizzard Beach;)
Now that is a pool worth hopping to!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

DITTO! (except we have pools in Connecticut) ;)

We are pool hoppers from way back. We stayed at the Polynesian Village ( as it used to be called) and would go to the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness to have lunch and swim. It had nothing to do with the pool or beach ( where you used to be able to swim) at the Poly. We just like to eat at and spend time at other resorts.
We stayed at OKW and pool hopped to the Polynesian and SAB. We enjoy this "perc" of DVC and hope that it is never totally taken away. As stated before, we enjoy going to the other resorts and eating lunch and spending time (and usually money) This has nothing to do with dissatisfaction with the pools at OKW. We really don't care about slides and find the pools relaxing. We like to experience all that "the World" has to offer.
I understand about the "chair thing". However, if people did not abuse saving chairs or would put their towels in the towel bin when they leave the pool, there would be more chairs available. i think that Disney is tired of dealing with this issue at SAB and are limiting the pool use to hotel and villa guest because it will be easier to control.
