Stormalong Bay - what do I need?

We are going to the Beach Club in 2 weeks and are flying down so I'm trying to minimize what we take. What do they provide at Stormalong Bay? Towels? Or do I need to bring beach towels? Anything else I need?

I'm trying to pack and this is hard! I was so organized a few months ago and now that the day is nearing I feel overwhelmed!

I'm not 100% postively sure about the towels question. I know they have a towel drop-off so you don't have to take wet towels back to your room, and that would obviously be for resort-provided towels. I would suggest, if you didn't want to pack beach towels (or buy them - I'm a sucker for Dis beach towels...) then just use the bath towels in your room. I seem to remember reading about people standing in line for towels at SAB, so while I'm pretty sure you can get them there, I'm not going to tell you that you can and then be wrong.

At Stormalong Bay you can rent inner tubes and floats, and they have a little stand that sells sunscreen, sunglasses, etc, though I'm sure it's expensive. You can rent the floats by the hour or for the day. They also rent those floaties for little kids to wear on their arms, if your kids are that age.

Basically, I'd say bring your bathing suits and some sunscreen and you'll be set.

They do provide towels at SAB, but if you want something more substantial you should probably bring a beach towel just in case. You never know depending on the crowd whether they will run short of towels.

This is a deluxe resort -- towels are provided. Some chairs are in the shade and some not; don't forget the sunscreen. Careful of the edge of the pool. It is surrounded by rocks to look natural and eats the bottom of your bathing suit. If you have children (or if you are young at heart), head to a Walmart and buy a $2 inflatable tube. The darn things rent for $10! We take ours and blow it up when we get there. Don't forget your room key -- they check!

We usually stay all day and I bring soft drinks and pretels. Hurricane Hannah's is right there but the lines can be extremely long. If you are lucky, the "pool waitress" will come by and take a drink order. This is your cue to order a tropical drink without even having to leave your seat. HEAVEN!

Have fun. This is a truly wonderful pool.

Absolutely. They also rent "noodles" and some folks brought their own. One section of the pool is donut-shaped and there is a current. It's nice to have a float here and some folks (cheapskates like me!) obviously brought their own. $10 for a tube is a bit excessive, I think! Bring your own and use the $10 for the pina colada!

I didn't know that you could bring your own tube!!! Is it that you can't bring your own raft? What exactly can you bring into SAB? What about the quiet pools? I didn't know about pool waitresses!!!!!!!!!! Worth the tip for sure! Is that only for drinks? Works for me. Tell me more!

I believe that any float is OK as long as it isn't really obtrusive. Since they rent large tubes and noodles, your own are obviously OK. My son is 5 and wears a lifevest we bring; that's never been a problem either. Perhaps if you try to take the float out of the area meant for floats, they might fuss. I think it would depend on how crowded the pool is. There are also often large beachballs being bounced around. I have seen a WDW guy gathering up kids and organizing a "volleyball" game in the middle of the pool, with a huge beachball. Lots of kids joined in.

Pool waitress seems to depend on the day. We were there last summer near July 4th and the place was hopping. Even the line to get "drinks only" at the snack bar was busy and a young woman was making the rounds. I think she was "drinks only," but I am not sure. She'd take cash or your room key and bring you back a receipt. Maybe it's only on weekends or at peak times? The pina coladas here are delicious and since I saved all that money on the floats I HAD to have one!

They provide towels--you show your room card to the attendent and they will give as many as you want.

As far as tubes, I don't think they will allow you to bring your own anymore. Two reasons--they switched over to all clear ones so the life guards can see the water underneathe the tube, and also they only have so many to avoid overcrowding.
