Stormalong Bay Question

Can anyone give me accurate information on exactly how much of stormalong bay is going to be closed during the next two weeks?

I've googled it and looked here on the boards and am finding conflicting information. Most places say the slide area only is being closed but then I found images of the proposed closure and it looks like 50% of stormalong bay.

Any educated guesses about how crowded the open pool area will be?

Trying to way our options and trying to decide whether or not to change resorts at the last minute.

per a very knowledgable cast member there - the entire area that is the slide, sinking sands, whirlpool is down. the areas that ARE open are the lazy river and kiddie pool. that entire other area is down.

There are photos on the Yacht/Beach Club FAQ page around page 37-39 showing the area being closed. It is about 50%. However, the remaining pool is still great, and they will have golf carts bringing people who want a slide over to the BWI. Only you can decide whether or not that's enough to stay... As Feckless says, the discussion about the pool closure on the FAQ thread starts around page 37. The part shaded in red in this picture will be closed. The kiddie slide and pool area behind the Jib Slide, the lazy river and the sandy play area close to the Yacht Club side will be open. The 3 quiet pools (BC, YC and BCV) will be open and pool activities will take place in one of those locations. Additionally, as mentioned, guests of the YC/BC/BCV will be able to use the Luna pool and slide at Boardwalk Inn and transportation via golf carts will be continuously provided between the two resorts.

Thanks everyone! I switched to the Poly. Wanted the GF, it was showing as available but by the time I got off hold with reservations it wasn't available anymore so the Poly it is. Feeling much better about the pool and about being on the monorail line.

I can't believe I'm just finding this out now and I have only 5 days left before arriving at the Yacht Club, our favorite resort because of so many reasons, most of all the pool and location! I feel sick now

I know how you feel but I'm on the other side...staying at the Boardwalk. That pool will most likely be mobbed. I'm very upset as well.

We got a letter in the mail about 2 weeks ago from Disney letting us know about the closure. Did you not get this? We booked direct with Disney. Maybe yours went to a your travel agent if you used one??

I don't blame you at all. I've been actually thinking of switching to the BW to still be in the Epcot area but realize the pool will be crazy due to this. Plus there won't be any availability at the Deluxe resorts at this point. So we are stuck! I have planned my itinerary for the week according to our location and planned dining reservations also at the YC and BC. We opted to not get waterpark tickets because we were soooooooooooooo looking forward to spending an entire day at the BC pool and totally relaxing and enjoying the resort, that's what we paid for a year ago! This is my older daughter's graduation present and she has been wanting to stay at this resort since our last stay 8 years ago. What a disappointment!!!

I am not even excited anymore and me and my family have been so excited to go back to the YC and have been counting down for an entire year cuz we're crazy that way. But now our feelings are completely different. It won't be the same.

Wow. We were At the Beach Club but I thought the letters went to everyone at both resorts.

When someone calls Disney they may be speaking to someone who isn't even in Florida. If the letters were sent out by one location then the right hand won't know what the left hand is doing anyway. Still, if they sent out letters, everyone should have received one. I remember when the DVC work was being done at AKL and there was a jack hammer being used during the day. Not everyone got a letter about that either and had a surprise instead when checking in.
