I believe I read in another thread or somewhere on the net that the depth is 8 feet. 8 feet?!? Can someone please confirm the actual depth? Thanks!

It's not 8 feet all the way around, but it is 8 feet at its deepest point.

Yes, I think about half way around just by that bridge it gets 8 feet deep. It's a little scary. Well for me anyway as I can't swim. Man was I holding onto my two funanoddles and my DH. My DS13 just kept laughing at me. I only went around once and let my DH and DS go by themselves after that. I said I was going to do it, I did it and that was enough for me.:scared:

8ft. I know because I'm one of those who went to get in and did not expect it to be this deep and sunk straight to the bottom. I'm glad it's this deep as it does keep the "horse playing" out of this area. I find it relaxing just floating around it.

bummer. My 10yo lazy/quiet boy could float in a river all day. But I'm definitely not comfortable with that depth - for the kids or myself. That takes Beach Club out of the running for us, at least for another several years. Thanks for the info!

The great thing about the BC pool is that this is just one section. You can be in other sections and not be anywhere near the lazy river. My DD last May spent most of her time in the section with the sand. Parts of that section only came up to my calf! We also spent time in the swirling water/whirlpool area and she loved that-she was 6 last May. She and I did spend a little time in the lazy river when my sons were there, but she stayed on the steps.

I totally agree! There are plenty of parts of the pool that are not affected by depth issues.

Because the swimming area at the BC/YC is so large, there is plenty of area to swim in where the water is not deep. Plus, there is always a lifeguard in the area where the water is deep. Please don't let this discourage you from swimming in probably the best pool that Disney has to offer.

In addition, it is possible to get life jackets at all Disney pools if that would make you feel better.
