stormalong bay entrance requirement?

We stayed at the BC during the last weekend in August of 2002. No one ever checked anything, when we went to Stormalong Bay. I had all of our key cards (family of four) with me just in case, but no one ever checked or asked.
From reading this board, I had expected to be asked for ID. We were not, however.

Wow!
We stayed at YC, last August, and every day we went to SAB,
and every day we were checked.
Once you show them your roomcard, they put a colored wristband on you for the day.
So, you don't have to wait back in line to get in.

They had several CMs at every entrance, which I think is 3 entrances.
One on each side of SAB, and one in the middle, by the Healthclub, spa, and bathrooms.

There may be more entrances, but these were the ones I noticed that were open.

Perhaps we weren't "carded", because we went late in the evenings, after our park time? I don't know, but we never were carded or given wristbands.

I've never been "carded" at any WDW resort, though.

That's probably the reason, dandave.
And SAB is the only pool we've ever been
"carded".

LOL! I just started thinking.....

Don't want this thread to turn into a "pool hopper"!!!!

I have had to show my Resort I.D. (room key) everytime I have visted Stormalong Bay. We where then given a wristband for the rest of the day. I have also been requested to show I.D. at Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian, the CM's checked everyones.

dandave,
That could have been why you where not required to show your I.D. After park hours pools may have been closed ie no lifeguard/slide closed.

I understand what you're saying BT! ;) As a non-DVC member, if I weren't staying at a particular resort I'd never attempt to swim in that resort's pool.
(It was a real hassle trying to round up my very young boys' room key cards, however, just to get ready to go to the pool. Thank goodness I never give them charging privilidges, because they always misplace their cards. ;) )

MAGICinMYHEART, Nope. The lifeguards were there. I spoke with a couple, while waiting for my dear sons to come down the slide. I also spoke with a lifeguard at the top of the slide on my one and only time down it. That slide was too much for me... :D

edited to add: MAGICinMYHEART, I have stayed at the the WL twice in '02. We were never, ever asked to show our room key there, either.

They weren't asking for ID's a couple weeks ago, of course it was only 63 degrees out, and there were exactly two people and four ducks in the entire pool complex :teeth:

Last August they were requiring ID's from everyone except the one year old when we went swimming. That seems to be the norm rather than the exception these days.

ducklite - nice to see an update pic of your vacation home - it's beautiful - if you ever need a house sitter.... **grin**

Last October they were checking ID's on some days and other days they were not.

All I had to show was my room key and they did not ask to see one for each member of our party.

floridafam - this was our experience also during our Dec. 8-13 '03 stay.

The first day, DD(14) went to SAB to swim while I finished unpacking. They asked for her room key, but she had left it with me - she told them her room #, and they told her she would need her key "next time." It was cool for a couple of days, then the next time it was warm, DD and I went to SAB and only took one room key - they did not ask for one for each of us.

I mentioned to the attendant that it was very inconvenient to have to bring the key - just an observation, not a rant - and he said "It's always a good idea to have your room key with you at all times." I just agreed and walked away, but what I really meant was, when my teens go to the pool while I am doing laundry, etc. I hate to send their room key - what do they do with it while swimming!? I don't usually swim, so I become the "holder of all things" at the pool!!!:teeth:

k&a&c'smom--

If you have teen boys, look for the bathing suits with the pockets which close with velcro--solves your problem :)

ducklite -

Thanks for the tip!! I do have teen boys, but unfortunately the only one to go with me to WDW for the last 3 trips was DD(14)!!! So usually she is the only one swimming!!! But we have a lot of fun, just us girls, so these little problems are no biggie!! We pretty much go with the flow!::yes::

Have only been asked to show Resort ID once at Wilderness Lodge...and it was very crowded...But on my trip in September as we where waiting to board the launch to MK I noticed that guests getting off the launch had bathing suits and coolers with them. This was about 8:00am so don't be surprised if in the future you are asked.:earsboy:
