El Nino suppresses hurricane activity in the atlantic. It brings more rain and activity to the pacific. We need rain so that's a good thing.

I agree, in my lifetime only Andrew was in a strong El Nino year. So, more rain for the west and less storm chance for Florida - bring on El Nino!

You will be fine, do not worry. Hurricanes follow me, this year is not predicted to be active, next year 2016 will be active.

Does that mean Next year may will be more active than normal? I'm nervous now I booked May because I thought that was plenty of time before hurricane season.

I wouldn't worry about. It's way to early to predict anything. They have been predicting El Nino's out west the last couple of years, but all we have gotten was a weak one and hardly any rain this year. Hopefully it happens next year which generally means less hurricane activity in the Atlantic. We really need the rain out here on the west coast so hopefully the predictions are right. It just needs to wait until after my Hawaii cruise this September.
