We are staying at Yacht Club for the first time in June. Can someone explain Storm Along Bay's entrance policies to me? Do you have to have a magic band to get in? My nephew won't have one due to eczema and emotional issues that cause him not to like to wear things like bracelets for long periods of time. I am assuming they scan the magic bands. Can we just use our room keys to get in? How does that work?

Everyone has to show their Magic Band to get scanned. Then each person in your party will get a paper band/bracelet to wear to show you were checked. Maybe things have changed but our last 2 stays at BC/YC everyone had to have a band/bracelet, no exceptions. CMs were walking around and found some kids without them, they had fallen off, so they had to go get their Magic Bands scanned again and got new ones.

He won't have a magic band. Any reason why his room key won't work?

Oh okay. They will scan his room key then. They really try to discourage people getting the old style room keys any more, so I didn't realize he would have one. I thought you just meant he wouldn't be wearing a MB, but would have one.

you could also just carry his magic band in case there is any issue. he does't have to wear it. they will give you both that and a room key.

When we were there in November 2014, they scanned only one person's magic band in our party. Then they gave us the paper bracelets.

while they are trying to enforce pool usage to hotel guests, they won't risk coming afoul of ADA policies- Room key should be fine

It is worth noting that wearing a MB is not required. Not at any point during the trip. He could have one and keep it on his belt loop, pocket, bag strap, etc; or another member of the party can keep up with it for him. Just mentioning that in case you weren't aware. He won't be limited to a KTTW card.

He doesn't have to wear his Magic Band on his wrist. I have seen people wearing them on lanyards around their necks and on bag straps. I saw one mother that had all of her kids' bands on a lanyard and she just scanned everyone in, one at a time. A regular KTTW card will work also, but I would think it would be easier to keep track of a MB that could be clipped on to something than a card. JMHO. Anyway, cheers and have a great trip!!!

Thank you guys! I had been told that they no longer issue room keys, but I'm assuming that's not necessarily true?

They don't issue them automatically, no. They do still have them around but as said, wearing a MB on the wrist is not required. Is there a reason you don't even want a band at all?

I don't have any issues but I have never worn my MagicBand. I just carry it with me in my bag or pocket. MagicBands do not have to be worn at all.

My DS usually takes his band off within an hour of putting it on, so I just wear it along with my own. It is much easier to swim with (it's waterproof) than having to keep track of a plastic card. At SAB, they will scan whatever you have - room key or band- but each person has to have at least one if those. They've become very strict at SAB. We were just there in April and were only giving the paper bands to those who wanted to go back and forth between the slide and pool. Just know, if he goes to the slide, he will need to have that paper wrist bracelet or they will ask to scan the key or band again. Apparently people were sneaking into SAB by going down the slide, so they check to make sure you are a hotel guest at the slide as well.
