Storing groceries at BCV before arrival?

So we have a late arrival in November. We don't land at MCO until 9:10 pm. We can take ME or rent a car. I was thinking about doing the grocery delivery service, and then we could take ME, but they would have to deliver to BCV before we arrive since I don't think they deliver that late? Last year, BCV had no means to store any of our frozen items. They have a refrigerator, but anything frozen would be ruined, and they might refrigerate things that don't really need refrigerating.

My question is, should I either 1) not order anything frozen or 2) try and do our own shopping via a rental car or car service w/1 free stop? Is anything open past 10pm in that area?

I find that pretty suprising.. A few years ago (when my DW was nursing our DD), we had to carry around a bunch of frozen milk... We stayed at three different Disney resorts, and each one had facilities to keep the the milk frozen (AKL, BWV, and VB)..

You may want to call the front desk at BCV again and talk to someone in bell services..

That being said, I am always one that goes for the grocery delivery service.. Vacation time is far too precious to spend it shopping in a grocery store with inflated prices... The two most recommended services at this site are wegoshop.com or gardengrocier.com . It has been said that both will take credit cards and will check your groceries with bell services without you being there... (We usually use wegoshop, and have never had any issues..)

Also, you mentioned ME... We used it a few weeks ago, and being able to use the service was great... You may want to have the groceries delivered just for that reason..

you don't need your groceries the night you arrive. just have them delivered the next morning.

now if you think that you will feel like cooking once you arrive at say 10:30 pm - think again.

you can eat (if you haven't) in the airport - just be sure to make the last DME bus. I think they stop at what midnight?

So last year, the kids ate dinner in the villa when we arrived. We used a car service and stopped at Publix to stock up. I made them hot dogs and frozen pizza. My DH and I ordered room service, we were so hungry. No meals on the airplanes anymore! I hadn't thought about eating at the airport. Usually we are so tired of being on the plane, we just want to relax and unpack. The kids probably won't be up for going out to dinner, and then nothing would be open anyhow within walking distance, and if we use ME, we wouldn't have a car. Hmm...I suppose room service for all of us, but that gets expensive too.

Darn these flights from the West Coast, getting us into MCO so late!

I think there is some place close that is 24 hours.

I know there are a couple in the MK resorts.

so I know there is one - at epcot resorts.

It might be the Dolphin. or it might be beaches/cream - not sure - will check and get back to you.

Picabu at the Dolphin is open 24 hours.

I sympathize with you on the west coast flights...I don't think it's possible to arrive before 4:30 or 5:00...we always feel like we waste the whole day flying!

Maybe we should rent a car, get our own bags, and find our own food ?!?!

Last year, our flight landed at 8pm, which left us some time for the car service to stop at Publix. I think the store closed at 9:30 or 10:00pm. This year, our flight was supposed to get in at 7:10 (yay!) but got changed to 9:10 (boo!).

I'm also wondering now if I am wasting my 61 points for that Saturday night when we will barely be needing the villa much. I should have booked something smaller for 11/18...I suppose I can still change that. Well, this thinking is driving me nuts!

Once you get checked in take a cab to the Winn Dixie up near Downtown Disney. They have pretty good prices. The round trip from BCV would be around $25. We stayed at the VWL last week and that's what I did. When I returned with the groceries the resort bellman loaded my goodies on a cart took them to the room and even put them in the kitchen for me.

she won't get to WDW until at least 10:00pm - the winnie dixie use to close at 10pm - is it now 24 hours?

I would just eat at the airport.

won't be great food - but enough to hold you until the next day.

or the 24 hour Dolphin place.

the Dolphin is not far at all - 15 minutes top - you can probably walk over in less than 10 minutes.

Yes, if I can find a 24-hour or open til midnight grocery store, I might try that approach.

And, if I can find a menu for that Dolphin place, that might work too. Otherwise, room service. I wonder if we should get the dining plan for room service? Hmm...

Still, I'm going to consider grocery delivery once I call BCV and verify that they can store my things. Did they find a freezer since last November? Perhaps. I also had a horrible time with them last year when it came to finding our groceries (our refrigerator was broken and all of our food was getting spoiled, so they came to get the food to store it and then couldn't find it the next day when the new refrigerator showed up, so I had to rent a a car and go shopping).

Well, at least I have a couple of months to figure it out! Thanks!

Just an update. I called the BC bell services yesterday and I was told that they have a small freezer (the size in the standard refrigerator there) that can be used to store frozen things. Also, we are now staying 4 nights at BCV and 2 at VWL. He also told me that when we move to VWL, they can move our perishables & food also. I was told previously that they would not do anything with our food and that we would have to move it ourselves via a rental car or taxi.

In addition, he told me that if it were him, he'd rent a car at MCO and stop at at 24-hour grocery store along the way...

Now I'm going to have to figure out if there is indeed something that opens 24 hours. We won't mind the stop, because we're on CA time anyhow and it will be 6pmish in our heads when we land.

I also have to verify that it is true that they will move our perishables, and is this a wise thing to rely on them for?
