We are staying at the Disneyland hotel in July and was wondering if anyone knows of a CLOSE store in which we can buy bottled water. Last time we went, my husband walked about 2 miles (we aren't getting a rental car). Thanks!::earsgirl:

Right by the Candy Cane Inn (I think), there is a convenience/tourist store. I remember they had glass coolers with drinks, so I would guess they have bottled water also.

Here is a map: http://www.beachcalifornia.com/dlmp.html
The Candy Cane Inn isn't labeled, but it's that one hotel that's on the same block as California Adventure.

That's the only store that I know of, but there might be something closer that I don't know about.

Thanks firefly and em! I always ask for a fridge in my room and we go through so much water I hate paying $2.50 a bottle in the park. (or maybe it's more now, it's been two years since we've been! ) I am new to these boards and I'm so glad to see there are more Disneymaniacs out there. Also, I see you're a fellow Washingtonian Firefly!

Thanks again!

Yes there is a 7-11 next to the Candy Cane on the corner of Harbor and Katella. Also just accross the street (Harbor) from Disneyland Resort there is a "Minni Mart" (I belive this is at the Tropicanna Hotel). This is the closest of the two.

if you take rt 5 north two exits to Euclid, there is a walmart there. It is probably less than two miles. it was one of the first things we did when we got there too!

This was great when we needed to pick up a few things (like I lost my sunglasses at a stop and left my watch at home) but the OP won't have car.

Firefly, I'm north of Seattle, the Stanwood area. Was also wondering, since this visit we are without a car, what is the best way to get to the hotel from the airport. Taxi? last trip we had a car the first part of the trip and then turned it in, and took a taxi to the airport. We have AAA-are there any deals you are aware of on shuttles?

Also, being a newbie, how you get that little bar with the count down to special days, and all the other goodies on your thread?
Thanks::wave2:

We go to Food 4 Less down on Katella. You turn right if you're going down harbor (on the corner of CA) sorry I live on an island so don't know if it's east, west, south, or north..had to learn those things when traveling on the mainland. There's also a pretty good Hometown Buffet. The food is not fantastic but it tastes a little closer to home cooked than take out. Of course you would have to take a taxi or a car to get there.

Mommytotwo-What is Albertson's a grocery store? Do you know if it's cheaper than the Food 4 Less. That was just the only grocery store we found around there.

Food 4 Less is west on Katella in a shopping center with a Sav-On, Taco Bell, Burger King, Arby's, Baskin Robbins, and the aforementioned Hometown Buffet. FFL is a no-frills bag-yourself grocery store that is the low budget entry in the Ralphs grocery chain. That being said, it's where we usually shop because the prices are lower.

Albertson's is another grocery store chain that has a few locations in the area. I believe there is one south of DL on Harbor, but the two I'm familiar with are further west from FFL on Katella at Brookhurst and then even further on Katella at Beach Blvd. This last one is especially large and nicer and is combined with a Sav-On and a decent deli section and a small food court. But it's more distant, probably about 5 miles west of DL.

To answer the original poster, FFL is the only grocery store that I'd say was in walking distance, but it's a healthy walk, probably 30-45 minutes from the DL Hotel. There is a liquor store at Katella and Walnut, due south of the DL Hotel, but I'm not sure what they carry besides the obvious. That store is not too far out of the way to the 7-11 at Harbor and Katella, so might be worth checking out.
