Storage of Lego instructions

All of these are GREAT ideas! I just want to throw an idea out there to all of you. I would definitely keep SETS together. And DON'T get rid of the original boxes! If possible, keep them someplace safe. My kids had a batman lego set (I think it was $10 new a couple of years ago), I was able to sell it on ebay last month....for $140!!!!! I think it helps to have original boxes if you ever want to resell.

Have fun!!

Make a photocopy of the instructions for your kids to use so if the copy gets torn or wet or lost you can make another.

Great idea, saving the box and putting the pieces in a Tupperware or similar container.

By the way, aren't the basic pieces interchangeable so if your kid runs out of a particular shape he could borrow a piece from another set?

For the instructions we use the binder with clear inserts. This stays in my sons room on a shelf so he can easily get to the directions he wants. He has multiple binders so we have categorized them(ie star wars,knex).......not expensive!

If we would of kept the original boxes :scared1:

I am thankful we have an attic because it is covered in lego boxes!! I even stick them inside others when they fit. I know I am in trouble though because DS is only 6! I know tons more are in the future.

(beware any posts that start "When I used to play with Legos...")

When I used to play with Legos there were some sets, but mostly packs with random bricks. They were all dumped into a central box, built into something, and torn apart for next time.

Nowadays, its mostly sets and DS7 loves to build and keep them all in tact. Star Wars, Bionicles, City, Indiana Jones... at times the house looks a bit like the Lego Store at DTD(wonder if I could re-create that sea monster out on the front lawn ?). The kits that have been broken down are in Rubbermade totes, with instructions basically being stored in the bottom-most drawer of his desk. Perhaps not the most elegant or organized solution, but functional.
