OK, we are doing the "other" way to and back from Michigan, being I-77 to I-95. We have settled on Brunswick GA on the way down to stay as we are leaving at 1am and that would be a good stopping spot.

On the way home we wont be leaving as early so are looking for around 11-12 hours of driving at most. I am looking at Beckly, WV, Princeton, WV or Charleston WV. Anyone familiar with these areas and is my timing about right?

Or any other suggestions?
thanks!

OK there HAS to be someone out there who has driven this route or knows the area.. Please.....help!

Wish I could help but I've only driven to Florida once...it's a llloonngg drive from here. But I just wanted to say HI...I grew up in Redford - 6 and Beech!

Hi Penny!
Thanks for the hi! We are at Plymouth & Beech, small world!

Gee, I wish I could help a fellow Michigander. But I've always taken I-75 when driving to and from Florida.

This will at least bump you back up so that maybe someone will answer with some help for you. Good luck! :D

Thanks travelbug, thats ok. We have driven 2 times before and took I-75 both times so we are familiar with that route but someone did tell us to try this way this time so we are but I am so unfamiliar with these sides of these states!

DianeV - We have stopped at Beckley WV while driving north. It would be a good stop for your drive.
I can't really remember much about it - other than it was your standard stop interchange. Lots of hotels, restaurants, etc right off the highway. We stayed at a Marriott, which was new and fine. One thing about driving that way - there are far greater distances between places to stop than on I-75. Through WV you can drive at least 1/2 hr or so with not much in between. It is a much prettier drive than I-75. You didn't say when you are driving.
I wouldn't recommend that route during winter however. It's a much harder driver in inclement weather. We did it last Christmas and freezing rain in the dark through those mountains wasn't much fun!
I hope this helps.

Yzma and Kronk:
Thanks for the help! We are going next month and will be leaving on 7/4 and coming back on 7/13 so hopefully the weather should be good. Of course the way our weather has been in Michigan so far this Spring (Fall?) who knows.

I figure it has to be nicer scenery then the usual on I-75 which can get a bit boring at times but will remember the distances for bathroom breaks :-)

Do you know offhand how long it takes to get to Beckley from WDW area?
