Stop & Shop deal on gift cards...sort of

Hi all,

I just received my Stop & Shop circular for 6/8/12 - 6/14/12. On the front page there is a little section about Father's Day. Buy $50.00 worth of gift cards in a single transaction and receive $10.00 off your next shopping visit via checkout coupon.

I called my local store to see if you could do more than one offer (i.e. buy $100 in gift cards and get $20.00 in coupons on your next shopping visit). They did not have the circular yet, but I read it to them and it doesn't state limit one offer or anything like that, so they said that I should be able to make multiple purchases and get multiple coupons in return.

I am going to try this tomorrow and I will let you all know.

Hooray! Last year I went nuts with this offer.

Disney gift cards, I bought about $700 worth. (had a trip coming up). Also got for Home Depot, Lowes, etc for purchases we were going to make anyway. SOME of the gift cards don't trigger the $10 coupon, and the store has NO idea which ones don't. Frustrating. I think iTunes did not work, and maybe Amazon. I knew in advance the Visa type gift cards would not work.

Yes, I bought many at once, and got all the coupons. When you redeem them, you need to split your order. I spend $300 a week on groceries (6 adults live here). So it was easy to redeem them.

I did this last year when Shaw's had this deal. I bought $800 in gift cards, and got $160 in coupons. My store let me use those to buy another $150 in gift cards.

The only pain was not being able to use them over the phone to buy tickets. I ended up driving a ways o a Disney Store to buy the tickets.

Great deal! Hope it helps a lot of you out. Unfortunately, here in Missouri the best I can do is the 5% Target Red Card discount.

Just make sure Disney is included. One of our stores here is running a promo like that but Disney was not included. Seriously bummed me out.

thanks for posting! I'm going to check it out today since I'm going to S&S anyway. My plan is to buy Disney cards for our trip in AUgust. I'll post back how it goes.

the only card the ad says is excluded is Stop and Shop gift cards, so hopefully that means Disney cards are okay.

SWEET! Chase Freedom has 5% cash back at the grocery store through the end of the month too, so I'll be sure to double dip on this action!

I saw this in my local ad last night also. I am going to check to see if they have Disney GC. I kept trying to make it work with the discounted Target gift cards but no luck. This is an almost better idea. We need to pay off our cruise ($3,000) so I am going to check this out this weekend.

I didn't see this till you posted,thanks! It says no S&S gift cards,and it also says Lowes is not a sponsor....does that mean no Lowes for this? I'd assume this also counts toward gas discounts too.....

Great tip about purchasing more gift cards. I'll have to see if my store will let us do that also.

The Stop & Shop ad says the promo begins Sunday.

Last time, they stopped letting you use the Catalina coupons on more gift cards in my store. For me, that was ok, since I spend so much $$ on food, they will get used either way.

They ran out of many of the gift cards by the end of the promotion. The first ones to go, were the movie ones. (PS It is possible that the Fandango was another one that did not trigger the Catalina last time, I wish I made a note of the ones that did not "work". But I think Amazon, iTunes, and Fandango MIGHT have been an issue).

I THINK you could buy 5 $10 GC, or 2 $25 ones to trigger the coupon. BUT! If you buy one $100 GC, you only get one catalina (?). It is tricky to know what to expect, because they don't print out until the order is completed. I have a mind like a sieve, because now I can't remember if I had to BUY them in separate transactions to get all the coupons. Like when I bought 4 $50 Disney GC, did I pay for them separately? I am drawing a blank.

I felt BAD tying up the cashiers for so long buying them, and they do not let you buy them at the self scanning registers, and also get them at the guest service desk. I would tell customers behind me, to try another line, Iw ould be awhile. Which leads me to believe that I may have had to purchase them in separate transactions?

We are doing bathroom renovations, and DH wants me to get $2000 in GC for Lowes. Oh boy. Will save us $400 though. I may have to go to to a few stores to find enough GC for that.

I can't answer all the questions, but I just got back from Stop & Shop and bought 1 $50 Disney gift card and got a $10 coupon off next purchase no problem.

And, from what I could tell, gift cards do not count toward gas points (for the poster that asked).

Thanks for the info about Disney. I need to call Disney Cruise Line to make sure I can pay off my cruise with Gift Cards.

Our Stop and Shop sale starts today also. We went to Stop and Shop last night to catch the end of last weeks sale and when we got home we had gotten the new ad in the mail. I hate going the last night of the sale because they had already taken off most of the shelf tags listing what was on sale and I had to keep checking the ad.

Anyway, hope to stock up on some tonight.
