Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

Great update! You really cracked me up with "flintstoning". :lmao:

After turning in our surrey bike rental, Hunter wanted to use his arcade minutes that came with our package. We were right beside Old Port Royale so we said "why not".

When I first booked our vacation, I booked it for just John, Hunter and I. I received the Mickey mail with our reservation information and vouchers. About a month before we were to leave, Lacey found out that she could go with us. I called Disney and they sent me another package and it had another set of vouchers. I took both sets to Disney with me not knowing whether or not I could use them. Now was the time to find out.

I swiped the first voucher and Hunter was able to start playing a game. I gave Lacey the other voucher and she swiped it and the games started. Cool! We were going to be able to use both of them.

A few pictures I took while they were playing. They didn't turn out very well.

Once the vouchers were used up, Hunter wanted to play some more so we bought a card and let him play a little while longer. We couldn't linger too much longer because we had a Chef Mickey's dinner to go to and Cirque de Soliel later that night.

***Gosh darn it! Gotta stop a minute, lost some of my pictures on photobucket.

I tell you what.....while photobucket and I work out our "issues", I'll tell ya'll a bit more about our Branson trip. I think I remember the last thing I posted was us eating our lunch and going to find Fire In The Hole. If that's not it, then tough 'cause that's where I am starting from.:rotfl2: I had told Hunter before we went that I though Fire in the Hole would be something like Big Thunder Mountain. I watched some really bad videos on You Tube and you couldn't see a thing but it looked pretty tame. Anyway, we got in line for Fire in the Hole while Mama went into one of the nearby shops to order a wooden sign for her house.

I took a few pictures while we waited in line:

I think Hunter was trying to get a picture of a squirrel in this one but I don't see a squirrel:

The train came by while we were waiting:

We were admitted into the main building and the way you got in the various lines was absolutely positively the stupidest thing I had ever seen. You just walk into this room and spread out. Then, you move forward and towards what you guess are little line/turnstiles in front of the crowd. It was just dumb because there was nobody telling you where to go or what to do. Not at all like Disney where they ask how many is in your party and point you in the right direction. Luckily, we were able to sit in the same train when it pulled in.

There were warning signs saying you had to take off all hats and backpacks and couldn't hold a camera. You had to walk through the seat and over to the other side to a little cubby hole shelf and put your stuff in there which I didn't like because anybody could just get off the next train and get your stuff and walk off.

The train thing started off and it was just plain boring. You went through what was supposed to be like a mine I guess and there were scenes to look at but it was dark and the lighting was dim and the train was going a little fast. Not fast like a roller coaster fast but not slow enough to see anything really. There were a couple of times that they yelled "fire in the hole" and you'd do little drops and turns which I guess is where the name of the ride came from.

Anyway, the ride was short and we all thought it wasn't worth waiting in line for again....if ever. We went back to the store where Mama had ordered her sign and she said it wouldn't be ready for at least an hour. Since we had seen the train go by, we figured we might as well find the train station and take a ride. I had to ask directions and it was a lot farther than we thought it would be. Still, we had time to kill. We had to wait about 15 minutes before we were able to get on the train and boy did they smush the people on it.

The train took us through the woods part of the park. There were Christmas scenes set up but it wasn't dark enough to see the light really. I wish we had of known this because we would have waited a little while before hopping on. When we got to a certain part, the train stopped and there was an older man sitting there in a rocking chair. He started telling the real story of Christmas and the lights behind him would light up as he told it. It was pretty neat. The rest was boring as heck.

During the train ride, I remembered that there was a laser gun shooting attraction nearby and it was decided that we should do it before going back over to get Mama's sign. Mama didn't want to shoot any lasers so she sat down on a bench and waited for us. Here are a few pictures I took while we waited to go in the building:

**Continued in next post

When we got in the building, there was a castmember (Disney speak 'cause I don't know Silver Dollar City speak ;)) asking us how many were in our party and he pointed us to the right line. A boat pulled up and we were drifting along with our laser guns.

I know that it takes a little bit of skill to master hitting a target with a laser gun. But, we're all fairly good at those kinds of things. We didn't hit squat! I pretty much gave up....I shot a few times and then took pictures, then shot again and took more pictures.

All of us had extremely bad scores. We could hear the people behind us complaining too. It just wasn't Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin or Toy Story Mania. Here are John and Lacey with their "stupidest guns in the world":

***Okay, let me stop and see how my search for my Disney pictures is going.

OK! first I love the reference to the flintstones...I bet ya'll had the whole bus rolling! Doesn't it do your heart good to know you made the bus ride exciting for a bunch of people! It does sound like fun riding the surrey bike. :yay: on getting to use both sets of vouchers!!! The stop and go and what do you mean the bike is moving is something Danny and Dayne would do!!!

next, on to Branson...I know its not disney but the laser game/ride looked kinda neat...I'm not good at the ones at Disney so I would have just had to enjoy the ride!
the story teller sounds neat!

:wave2: Connie
BTW: happy to hear the tape w/the hours on it was not as bad as it could have been!

Can I please take up a minute of your time? There is a band, Julian Drive, that often travels with Lacey's Mission group to the various conferences. I just found out that the lead singer (who is Lacey's pastor's wife's brother) and several others were in Haiti when the earthquake hit yesterday. From what I understand, they were able to get word to their family that they are okay but they have heard nothing else. I ask that you please keep them in your prayers.

wow..I have been praying for those there but will def. send up specific prayers for that goup!!!

Prayers are going out! There are several churches here waiting for word from Mission teams that are there, too....

absoluteley..many prayers for all of them...

wow..I have been praying for those there but will def. send up specific prayers for that goup!!!

Thank you so very much!

Lacey's pastor received an email yesterday from one of the people on the mission trip and he forwarded it to Lacey. I was going to copy and paste it here but AOL is down right now.

I'll try and remember what it said...apparently, they were working at an orphanage as part of their mission trip. The orphanage wasn't in the town that was hit the worst. A few people on the trip are from California and are used to earthquakes. They were out on the beach when the earthquake hit. The waves started coming in and just as they were commenting on it, the tremors started. Their car and the buildings started shaking extremely bad and they could see rock slides on the nearby mountains.

Everyone there was okay but some of the volunteers at the orphanage lived in the town hit the worst and lost family members.

The last bad shake they felt was around 12:15 a.m. yesterday morning.

They were supposed to try and fly home tomorrow but they aren't sure if they will be able to do so.

Of course, communication is limited. They have heard nothing else from the group since yesterday's communication.

For some reason, I didn't have all of my Disney pictures on my office computer for some reason. I burned them on a CD and brought them with me 'cause my office computer uploads to photubucket faster than my home computer does. Once I get them uploaded, I'll post another update.

***Coming up Chef Mickey's.

Lisa, I have a lot of catching up to do, but just wanted you to know I'm still around -- just very busy. I'll catch up and comment later. Hope all is well with the family.

i'll be sure to check out the arcade if we stay a cbr in may:)

It's a fun place to hang out for a while. Hunter loves the Jurassic Park game and wanted to play it over and over again.

First of all prayers sent to everyone in that poor country:sad2:
Waiting for my dinner at Chef Mickeys

Thank you so much! I uploaded over 300 more pictures to photobucket and now I can't find the pictures of where we walked from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary. Oh well, I'm going to post an update without those pictures and hope I find them later.

After having played games in the arcade and looked around the store for a while, we decided we better go to the room and start getting ready for our dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's. We also had tickets to go see Cirque de Soliel that night and were super excited about that.

It didn't take us long to shower and change. We didn't want to go to Cirque in just plain old shorts and t-shirts so we dressed in a little something nicer.....khaki shorts and button up shirts. :lmao: Man, are we fancy or what? Wait, I take that back, Lacey had a sun dress that she wore. Yep, place us up on that fancy dressing list alright. :thumbsup2

We walked to the Old Port Royale bus stop and waited on a Magic Kingdom bus to arrive which wasn't long at all. Once we got to the Magic Kingdom, we found the walkway to the Contemporary. I took several pictures of our walk over but for some reason, I am not finding them on photobucket right now. Ticking me off!

As we walked over, Hunter looks at Lacey in her dress and he whispers in my ear "don't you think Lacey's a little overdressed?". I told him no and maybe he should even compliment her on how nice she looks. He just looked at me crazy but I did notice when we were eating that he said something to her.

I hope I don't offend any Contemporary Resort lovers out there but I've got to say that it didn't impress me one little bit. I know it's supposed to look modern but to us it just looked outdated. We had to ask the way to Chef Mickey's and the resort castmember was just plain rude and pointed up the stairs.

We checked in and were given a buzzer. We found a place to sit and waited and waited and waited. After about 25 minutes our buzzer went off and we went to the desk. They took our picture with Mickey and the giant plate and then we were seated. One of the things that I noticed right away was that the floors were dirty. There was food everywhere. Now, I know that this is a family oriented restaurant and there are lots of little kids everywhere but this was bad.

I can't remember what order the characters came around but I do remember that they kidded around with us a little and then moved on to other tables pretty quickly. I thought the interaction was supposed to be phenomenal at Chef Mickey's. Maybe it was because we didn't have any really little kids in our party. :confused3

Gosh darn it all! I had some pictures of our food but I can't find it. I can tell you that it was all just plain old yucky. We didn't like much of anything. The rolls and salad were the only things that we ate much of. The meat was bloody. The pasta stuffing was just bland. The pizza must not have tasted very good either because Hunter ate two pieces and that was it.

The buffet area was dirty....I almost slipped on something on the floor. Yes, I did tell somebody. I just didn't like the place at all!

Here are a couple of pictures that I found of our desserts:

We were ready to just cut out losses and get out of the restaurant but we couldn't' find our waitress. After about 10 minutes, she finally came out of a back room but didn't come to our table. John had to finally flag her down.

****Need to stop here. I have to run something to the courthouse since they'll be closed Monday. I'll be back to tell you about Cirque.

Hi Lisa! Great update! I use to be a pretty big fan of Chef Mickey, but I think it went downhill for some reason. The last time I was there was a few years ago with DH. The characters didn't really interact with us much either. I actually notice that alot in Disney. If you don't have little kids, they don't pay attention to you as much. That is the only think I do not like about Disney! Hope the rest of this night was better for you!!!

can't wait to hear about the Cirque. my kids use to go to all the ones that were put on at the Beau Rivage before Katrinia. the nice thing about all the shows are each one is very different for the other.

I love the dessert pics of Hunter and Lacey...the Mickey ear truffles just have to make you smile...I hope they tasted good

BTW you are not to first to report Chef Mickey the same exact way you just did!
