Yesterday, I walked across the street from the office to take pictures of the river.
For those of you who remember, I posted a while ago that John and his brother, Mac, had come to the office to hang a political sign from our second story balcony. When they went upstairs, the turned around and saw a skeleton. Scared the bejeebers out of them. John told me that, after their hearts stopped racing and before they left, they turned the skeleton around to make it look like it was looking out the window. He keeps telling me to go across the street and look but I keep forgetting. Yesterday, I remembered. Here's our peeping skeleton:
Let's see if I can describe these pictures so you will know how high the river is. This is the picture that I posted last week when they were raising the flood wall a few sections at a time:
I am standing in one of the open sections where the flood wall would be raised when I took this picture looking to the left. You can see one of the flood wall panels raised in the left of the picture:
This is a zoomed in picture of the one above:
Right in front of me:
Looking to the right:
See how close it is to the top of the levee:
Looking right still. You can see one of the four bridges that cross the river. It's pretty darn close to the middle of the bridge. It's even closer to the ends of the bridge.
I went out back into my boss' garden/patio/sitting area and took a few pictures. The wind was starting to pick up but I got a couple of decent pictures.
This is a kumquat (spelling?) tree:
Can anybody tell me what kind of tree this is?
Flowers:
Lemon tree:
Since the boss is out of town, I went by his house on the way home and fed his cats. He lives on the bayou and I wanted to take pictures. I was only able to get one picture before my camera battery died. I haven't charged it since we came home from vacation in August.
When I got home, Hunter and I went outside and played with Oddball for a while before I started dinner. I tried to take a few pictures of the things I took pictures of last time I posted. Since it was dusk out, most didn't turn out. Still, just a few Fall colors.
Here's the "tree alley" picture:
Crabapple tree:
Because it's so wet, we have these things growing everywhere:
Okay, I really do need to get busy getting the last few things off my desk. Wouldn't want my boss to think I had done absolutely nothing since he left for Chicago.
