Seems like the PPs go both ways.
Riverdance and Stomp are quite different shows. While some really like one and couldn't care less about the other, most people who love music enjoy both.
Riverdance is basically Irish music, with some foreign elements. It mixes dancing (obviously) with singing and instrumental numbers. There seems to be a vague story line about Irish history, but no need to pay that any mind. The performers are top-of-the line. The worst you can say about it is that it can be rather schmalzy at times (but the few who think so tend to keep it quiet).
Stomp, on the other hand, is pure percussion music, made with ordinary household objects - brooms, pots and pans, trashcans and so on. There is basically no dialogue at all, and the performance consists more or less of a number of sketches / musical numbers, some of them humorous. I've seen Stomp a couple of times here in New York, and the theater is rather small. As a result, I would say that the only down side is that, towards the end, when the trashcan lids and bigger objects are being banged away, it can get pretty darn deafening.
