Stomachs Sufficiently Stretched, DxDDP in Dec! 3/27 - Flying Fish Cafe

Well, it's already Day 5 of our trip---and Day 5 is scheduled to take place in Animal Kingdom. I've only been to Animal Kingdom once (in 2007) and wasn't a huge fan. I don't really think we gave it a fair shot, so we are going back to spend an entire day there this trip, rather than a half-day. If I still think it's a dud, we can go back to half-days from now on.

After a long night out at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party the night before, I'm guessing that my party might be looking for a sleep-in day. Luckily for them, I think that's fine. Sure, we'll probably have to Fast Pass Expedition Everest and the Safari ride, but other those and Dinosaur, all we really want to do for the day is walk around and soak in all the detail of the park. I know that the lens I rented for this trip will definitely come in handy.

So---here is what the food plans for the day look like:

Breakfast: Probably not much of anything, maybe grab something to tide us over from the Boardwalk Bakery or eat any leftover dessert/snacks we may have stored up in the fridge of our room at this point.

Lunch: Yak & Yeti. Our lunch ADR is for 12:30, so this will probably be one of the first things we do after entering the park, depending on when we arrive. This is somewhere that I am really excited to try. We don't have any other specifically "asian" type of restaurants planned this trip, so I'm looking forward to some sweet & sour or crispy honey chicken. I also can't wait to try some of those pineapple cream cheese wontons that I have seen so many pictures of. Mmmmmmm!

Dinner: Dinner will be at Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This is one of my most anticipated ADRs. After seeing the ostrich, the filet with mac n' cheese---just all of it looks great. I'm excited to try something that's a little new and different than I would usually eat and Jiko gets pretty much nothing but rave reviews, so I'm sure it'll be a great meal.

Snacks: Icecream cookie sandwich from DinoBites.

Today is an update for our dining plans on Day 3. Day 3 will be spent in my favorite of all four parks---the Magic Kingdom. No matter what they add, the Magic Kingdom for me, like so many others, will always be the park. No trip would ever feel complete without it.

Today is extra magic hours in the evening, which we plan on attending to see Spectro and Wishes, and we're also going to tour a resort or two in the Magic Kingdom area this day.

Breakfast: Crystal Palace for a pre-park opening ADR. I've been to the Crystal Palace once as a kid, so it's basically new to me. I'm so excited to have a pre-park ADR---I'm really really looking forward to getting some shots of a basically empty Main Street. I'll be honest, I couldn't care less about the characters and if it was an after park opening ADR, I would even go. :rolleyes1

Lunch: ???? Because we're eating a buffet breakfast, I'm not sure what we'll do for lunch. We have a VERY late dinner ADR---so we'll definitely grab something, just not sure what yet. In my "plans," I have that we'll return to the hotel and split some stuff at the ESPN Club, but we'll see. If we are having too good a time, we may just grab a CS meal in the Magic Kingdom.

Dinner: California Grill. This is an ADR I am really looking forward to. Originally I had it planned for around 8:00 the next day so we could catch Holiday Wishes from the observation deck, but then I booked MVMCP and the only ressie time I could get for this day was 9:20pm. Not a huge deal since we're adults and hopefully the restaurant will be quiet, but since this is a credit guarantee reservation it means no matter how tired we are, we still have to go! My plan is to get the Yoshi's Sushi Platter as my meal, but who knows how I'll feel once we arrive.

Up Next: Day 4 already!? A lazy morning and MVMCP.

My DH and I will be in WDW from the 13-18, and also will be spending our evening at MK that day! :) I  that park and I am soooo jealous that you have an ADR for Crystal Palace, but we booked a "last-minute" trip, so what can you do? :-) I am SO in for this review. popcorn:: I plan on doing a DR for our trip and it will be my first one and I am very excited to do it! :santa: Christmas is the best and WDW at Christmas time = :cloud9:

Welcome! I still haven't subbed to my own thread---so when people comment I've been slacking with the responses.

Hope you guys have a great trip and you never know, keep trying to get a CP reservation, there are cancellations all the time! :wizard:

I'm feeling depressed already as I go over our plans for Day 6 in my mind. Where did the time go?! I hate endoftripitis and it happens every time.

Day 6 will be spent in EPCOT. Our original plan was to spend two days in EPCOT---one day in Future World and one in the World Showcase. Ultimately, we decided to add MVMCP to our plans and as a result, decided to condense our EPCOT plans into one day. I'm fully anticipating that this day will be exhausting, but hopefully not too bad since the majority of our time will be spent wandering around the World Showcase.

Now, onto the food. :goodvibes

Breakfast: Sunshine Seasons, or leftover snacks/dessert in our room. I have seen one too many pictures of the awesome strawberry shortcake at Sunshine Seasons and one way or another, I'm going to eat it!

Lunch: San Angel Inn. This is a favorite of ours and although I have an ADR for this, I may end up cancelling in lieu of "snacking around the World" until our dinner reservation. If we cancel SAI we will most definitely stop into La Cava and have a margarita and some tostados though.

Dinner: Le Cellier. I must admit, I have no real desire to eat at Le Cellier other than to see what all the DIS hype is about---and oh yeah, because of the Chocolate Moose. ;) I was up at 3:00am to make my ADRs and had no intention of booking dinner here, but when I saw it was available I decided we would be foolish if we didn't book and so, I did. I'm planning to have the cheddar soup, filet and chocolate moose since those are the most commonly discussed items on the menu, but who knows!

Snacks: My DM will definitely want a school bread in Norway, she's a coconut-aholic. My DH will need to have a funnel cake and I reeeeally want to try something, anything, fom the bakery in France as well as a Grey Goose slushie. Mmmmmmmm.

Up Next: Day 7---our last day in The World. :sad2:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I can't believe you didn't sub to your own thread. That is priceless. ;)

:rolleyes1

The honest truth is that I've never subbed to my own threads---I guess I just figured that they're usually linked in my Signature, so why bother? Although this one isn't linked---so my thought process is obviously flawed. :rotfl:

Well everyone, it's now Day 7---the final day of our trip. How depressing!

For our last day in WDW, we have planned to go to the Magic Kingdom one last time. There is a very remote possibility that we'll end up going to Epcot instead, but MK is what we have planned so that's what I'm going to list here.

Breakfast: Kouzzina. I have heard so many mixed reviews about Kouzzina that I'm hesitant to eat here. It seems most of the bad reviews are for meals other than breakfast, but still, it makes me nervous. I'm looking forward to trying the waffle or french toast, but if we decide to ditch this ressie, we'll probably just eat at the Main Street bakery.

Lunch: The Plaza Restaurant. This will be our final meal in WDW. I picked The Plaza because it's right on Main Street, which would allow us to spend every last minute of our park time enjoying the park, rather than having to travel to another resort for our last meal. The plan is to eat lunch here and then wander down Main Street until it's time to leave.

And so this entry wraps up all of my dining plans. Writing everything out makes it seem to go by so quickly. I'm very much looking forward to the trip, only 13 more days and I hope that the Deluxe Dining Plan is a decision we won't regret.

Anne, you have a great line up. And The Plaza is ALWAYS our last meal of our trip for the same reason -- more time to spend at the MK, plus we really LOVE the food there and the quaintness of the restaurant. Can't wait for the food porn/trip report to begin. :)

Now that all of the dining plans have been outlined, it's only right that I post my rating system for this trip. :)

For our trip in October, I used images from one of my two all-time favorite movies, the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. This time, I'm going to use a rating system taken straight from another of my two all-time favorites----National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. :santa: It seems appropriate, given my PTR is appropriately titled "Christmas Vacation (The Trip, Not the Movie).

Soooooo, on with the ratings!!

First, we have the rating for gastronomic heaven. The best of the best of the food that we have tried during this trip. Put me to bed, I can die happy.

Next, we have the rating for an excellent dining experience. Not quite up to par with the best rating because of maybe a not so great server, etc. but definitely good food and we'd return again for sure. Stuffed and happier than a pig in the mud.

726718864_qeNxK-S.jpg

Next up, we have the mediocre. This rating will be given for meals that are just "meh." Okay food, okay service---nothing horrible, but nothing outstanding either. A decent meal, possibly a little incoherent like Aunt Bethany.

726718873_zEwEa-Th.jpg

Next is a bad meal. Anything can contribute to this, bad good, poor service, horrible atmosphere. Generally speaking, this is a meal that we would have preferred to rewind time and skip. We probably wouldn't go back. The dining equivalent of a squirrel attacking you from within your Christmas tree. Not good, not good at all.

Lastly we have the Cousin Eddie. If you've seen the movie you know this is going nowhere good. Absolutely disgusting. Wouldn't eat at this restaurant (or this particular food item) again. Groooooooooss. A culinary gift from Hell. This rating deserves two images.

Alright everyone, we're getting down to the wire here. With only 12 days left until we head to The World for our Christmas vacation, I'm in need of snack suggestions!

Throughout the past few months, I've been compiling a "To-Eat & To-Drink" list. Since we will be on the Deluxe DDP, I figure we need a good list to choose from in order to maximize our snack credits and so, after checking our numerous dining reviews and food porn threads, the list was born. Here is what I have come up with that I would like to try:

SNACKS
- Icecream cookie sandwich in MK or AK (wanted to try one in October but didn't)
- Dole Whip (not sure I'm interested now that they're "tinted" for the holidays)
- Lefse from the bakery in Norway
- Peanut butter chocolate cake from the Boardwalk Bakery
- Something from Goofy's Candy Co.
- No Way Jose from Beaches & Cream
- Butterfinger cupcake from Starring Rolls Cafe
- Chocolate croissant from the bakery in France
- Cinnamon bun from Main Street Bakery

DRINKS
- Lapu lapu
- Grey Goose or Grand Marnier slushie
- Margarita from La Cava del Tequila
- Yak Attack
- Glowtini
- Adult milkshake from Sci-Fi Dine In Theater

Sooooo, my DIS friends---thoughts on things to add or even things to take away that just don't live up to the hype?

Anne, I don't see school bread on your list. Although I did not like it (I don't like coconut), my husband really enjoyed it. My favorite snack at Disney is the POPCORN!!!! popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

OMIGOD I love the ratings, that is our favorite movie of all time! We watched it three times this weekend!

Sooooo, my DIS friends---thoughts on things to add or even things to take away that just don't live up to the hype?

All you have to do is read any of my reviews and you will see the snacks and drinks we love :rotfl:

The dole whips are tinted for the Holidays? What?! I know my DH is going to love the Dole Whip, so even if it's tinted we have to try it. He's a pineapple-aholic. :lmao:

What about ......

Mickey Bar
Disney Popcorn
Magic Cookie Bar
Ghirardelli Waffle Cone
Carrot Cake
Make your own Pretzel Rods
Raspberry Lemonade Slush

to add a few? ;)

How unfair .......... now I crave them ALL!!!! :lmao:

Where can I get that said Raspberry Lemonade slush?! I'm drooling just thinking about it. I can't WAIT to have a Mickey Bar either!

Joining in late but I'm here now :) - how about a Carrot Cake cookie from the Writers Stop at the Studios ?
Also I saw a post earlier for a drink at the bar at T Rex where they actually pour your Martini over Cotton Candy
