We has a wonderful trip to WDW March 11-16, 2006. Stayed at CSR and loved it. On the way home my DH came down with a stomach bug, then DS two days later, then DM! Took DS to the Doctor and she said she has seen a lot of kids back from WDW with a stomach bug or strep throat. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar bug from WDW. The good news is it only last 3-4 days and we had a great trip!

Uh-huh, yeah sure.
Its the dreaded "WDW stomach bug of aught-six".

AKA: "The Mouse flu of aught-six."
"Patient One" was a rouge Pal Mickey!!

Not necessarily from WDW, but I know there is a stomach bug going around here, as well as strep throat. (We are in New Hampshire). I'm glad you had a good trip other than the illnesses!!!

Lots of flu, vomiting and strep still making the rounds. When people take their sick kids to WDW, somebody's gotta take it home; sorry it had to be you . Hope everyobdy is better now.

What does "ought-six" mean?

Hi, there.

Its me again.

"ought-six" really doesn't mean MUCH...

I SHOULD have typed "AUGHT-six".

(Which DOES mean '06 or 2006.)

I edited my first post for the misspelling.

BTW, if you have to EXPLAIN 'em (jokes) they're not that GOOD.

If you have to RE-SPELL 'em... well, they're a BUST.

;)

Regardless of what Aught Six means - the stomach flu has been making its rounds and its not just at WDW... We are in NH and I work in the local school system.... Its crazy to see just how many kids have been out at each elementary school lately with the bug and it seems to be lasting a good 3 days or so. There is nothing you can do for it - just drink lots of hydrating fluids and clear broths. If you eat anysort of solid- it WILL come back up/out! :teacher:

It is pretty aggressive and comes on w/o warning. Stomach and intensitnal - lots of fun - if its not coming out of one end its coming out the other... a nasty thought for sure but will debilitate the most healthiest person. DFIL was t he carrier for us and then DBIL and his family got it last week and they were all out of commission for 3+ days... Wash wash wash those hands and steer clear of anyone who has the symptoms - its very catchy! :sad2: I wouldn't wish it one anyone! Just goes to show that germs are everywhere - even in the happiest place on earth! Be thankful it didn't ruin the time while you were there... :wave2:

DH stayed at the CSR 3/2-3/9 for business classses/conference and came home sick with the stomach bug.

He told me that one morning at breakfast in the Pepper Market he watched a kid drop the tongs for the waffles on the floor, step on them and put them back. He mentioned it to one of the workers there and she asked him if she should remove the tongs and waffles! He told her that, yeah, he thought she should. He watched her go over, pick up the tongs and look at them, then put them back. She then went back to what she was doing. :sad2:

This is one of the cleanliness (or lack of) issues that he had with CSR. There were some housekeeping issues too.

Unfortunately, people do bring their sick kids to WDW. Also unfortunately, WDW does not always clean as well as they should and this adds to the germs floating around.

Eww! From the restroom floors, to shoes, to the Pepper Market floors, to the tongs, to your Mickey waffle!! That's one ride at WDW I DON't want to be on!!

Very good!

Go back and re-read my first post (#2) with a new re-edit. :thumbsup2

robo thanks for my 15 mins. of fame :rotfl2:

My wife got a serious case of vomiting while at WDW. she was "with child" (thats the old fashion way of saying it) We had to go to Celebration Hospital. She had a fever so it was a virus and not food poisoning. At least that was what the doctor said. Baby was fine.

Just remember me in your acceptance speech when you thank the "little people".

FWIW, my daughter got violently ill (vomiting) at WDW on Wed. 3/7 and SIL on Thurs. 3/8, the opposite end in his case. They were both better within 24 hrs and neither grandchild nor my wife and I had any symptoms. Of course, while on vacation my wife and I avoid solid food and water religiously.

We were at CSR the end of January. Our bathroom smelled so bad we had to request a new room (vomit smell). The mousekeeping people actually got into a verbal fight in front of us about who's responsibility it was to clean that room! Always remember mousekeeping is just making the beds and a quick vacuum and wipe down. This is not heavyduty cleaning and germs are not dealt with. If you haven't gotten sick from staying at Disney in your 200 trips it is just because you are lucky, not because they are clean. BTW my son got the bug the day after we came home.

Oh, I forgot. One time we were eating at the sit down resturant at POR. At another table there was this kid about 5-6 drinking from the syrup bottle like it was a water bottle! The parents didn't bat an eye! I pointed it out to one of the waitresses and told her she should throw that bottle away after they left. She didn't seem real conserned.
