I made the albums before but it was my first try at a Diaper Cake.

It took about 80 diapers and it was fun to make. It was the hit of the Shower.

If anyone near Shediac/Moncton want to ever make one, I have a new craft room I like to use and you are welcome to come over. I look for any excuse to craft...:flower3:

Very cute! I'll have to remember this the next time I get invited to a baby shower. Was it hard to keep everything together when you were carrying it?

Actually it was pretty stable.I put elastic around 5 to 10 at a time, then tied them all together with curly ribbon, then the decorative ribbon. You can also put a wooden dowl down the center to keep it steady.

It was super easy once I had the layers tied together.

How fantastic! My sister's baby shower is next month, I'll have to clear some time to make something like that!

You found all the info on how on the community board?

Excellent! We're gonna swipt this idea for our work collegues baby shower next month. Thanks for posting!

If anyone need directions, let me know. It was super easy.

Sam I would love to have the directions to this....it's absolutely beautiful...especially in the mauve colour!:thumbsup2 :)

PM me when you want to make one and I can give you a call and answer any questions you have.

Wow that is so cute. Can I get you to pm me with the directions.
Having had six children I find one of the most used and practical gifts are diapers. I usually give a box of diapers and some bath essentials so this is wonderful.

I hope I can explain how I did it.

i used size2 diapers as a friend of mine said that size2 and size3 are the most needed.

I used Walmart Brand because a snobby (she's nice but wants the best in her products) said it works better than the premium brands out there.

I used 79 diapers but if I was more carefull I could have kept it to a bag of 72 (live and learn)

I got some curly ribbon to hold the layers together. I used white. To secure each diaper i used 2 invisible hair elastics from a pack of 500 from the Dollar store and I got the wide ribbon from there too as well as the flowers.

I rolled each diaper so thar the coloured band was facing in. I put each layer together with a large elastic then once the ribbon was on, I cut out the elastics.

For the flowers, keep them on the stems and just put them between diapers or just place them on top loose once you get to the shower. Do NOT use hot glue or tape because that ripped the diapers and you do want the mother to be able to use them.

To keep the layers from falling over, you can put a wodden dowel down the center and place the whole cake on the boards bakers use to make real cakes.

Then choose a colour and a topper...that's it.

If I did not explain it well, let me know.

Great direction:thumbsup2. Thanks, my cousin is due in a month I think this will make a great gift.

Oh, the diapers themselves have a little wave of blueish purple on them so it worked for me but if you use other diapers it will be different. Ask any friends you have to take a look at the ones they use to see the different looks. I tried to find all white diapers but could not find any...:confused3

You did a wonderful job with it! I've seen them before, but never one as dainty and pretty.
:cheer2:

I dont think they actually make white diapers anymore. DS wears pampers and they are teal stripes unless DH buys the wrong ones then they are purple. Not sure about Huggies. The cake us great, my baby shower someone made a very creepy baby out of diapers for us. I think that I will be making this cake for my best friend who is due in Oct.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing the photo & the instructions.
I am SO inspired. It is beautiful!

Great job - now you just need a life size one with Brad Pitt hiding in it so he can pop out and announce he will be on diaper duty for the next 3 years :rotfl2:

Brad Pitt....Make it Mark Harmon and we have a deal...:lmao:

I can't seem to resist an older man right now...

How much approximately did it cost to make these? My DD6's Spark leader is about to have a baby and I thought it might be cool to give one of these from the girls to her, especially if they could make flowers or some thing to help decorate it. I'd like to have an idea of the cost before I approach the other parents.

What a great idea! I have a baby shower to go to in June and I might consider making this. I was wondering how many diapers are in each layer?
