Stocking Stuffer Ideas

I usually start off with the dumb stuff like rocks, condoms, and gum wrappers in the adult stockings. It gives them something to wish for. I always like the idea of trial size perfume bottles. You can usually get five different kinds in a box for around twenty dollars and that IS a nice stuffer!! I also like doing things like tiny scented candles and flavored lipgloss for the gals. For the gents, I like chocolate covered almonds or most any kind of nut and a nice bikini girl of the internet.

Oranges in the toe, a book of lifesavers or sweettarts for the younger ones. DD8 is getting a charm bracelet, assorted charms, bracelet, initial necklace, earrings, and two of those tightly wrapped facecloths from TDS. Nothing big but all wrapped in Santa paper.

We have no kids, but rumor has it that my honey's stocking will have some Stitch PINS from Disney Auctions, some dark chocolate truffles and turtles, some Jelly Belly beans, some Tic Tacs, and a Santa Stitch antenna topper. I love having Santa's ear. :earboy2: Maggie

My kids always get a new pair of gloves & slippers in their stocking. this yr since we are going to WDW in Jan, I ordered pins & lanyards for all of them from the Disney outlet in FL. They don't have any so will be very excited about them. I also ordered Pal Mickey & haven't decided if Santa was going to leave him. I bought those Disney light up spinny toys and Disney PJs. I'm going to have to look for the Disney coke at Walmart. They would love that!! Everyone is getting a new CD too.

We always put socks, toothbrush (a fun one), and batteries. That way I know we have the right ones for what is under the tree! Candy, LOTS of candy, ya know to start the suger high early in the day! Then little stuff that is special for each of us. Even Dh and I get a stocking filled!

Has anyone forgotten about the old standby apples and oranges stocking stuffer tradition that I grew up with? (Ha! Ha! My kiddos would have words for me!!)

Ha, I always got an orange in the toe of my stocking as a kid, even as a young adult. Well, I have never ever like oranges, and never ate a single one!!!

Walmart has some cute Lisa Frank things to put in the stocking for 94cents. THey have mini clip boards, mini photo albums, stickers, pads and pens, kids tape, erasers with case. Tons of stuff. Also got some stuff at teh dollar spot in Target, mechanical magnetic fishing game, bubbles, high bounce balls, slinky's.

I went looking at Walmart today for the small disney coke bottles....could not find them. I even asked numerous clerks and they didn't know what I was talking about. Someone suggested that I call my local Coca-cola bottling company.....Has anybody ever done this?

BTW - there are several "disney" stocking stuffers that I found at Walmart. I found a cute little tin, filled with marshmellows, with Mickey and Pluto on it. I also found several princesses items, etc. I found them all in the "Speciality" isles right behind the jewelery counter.

Good Luck!!

Thanks to everybody for your suggestion on stockings!!

There are some great ideas here!

Our stockings are ENORMOUS. I bought them at TDS in 1995 when I was pregnant with DS. Mine is Minnie, DS is Mickey, and DH is Goofy (in more ways than one LOL). They are adorable but I could probably put a two liter of soda in them and still have room left over!!

For DS so far I have three Game Boy games, three cd's, socks, underwear. We always do an orange, a huge red apple, hard candy, chocolates, and nuts because that was what I grew up with. DS doesn't eat much candy but he likes Tootsie Rolls and Reese's. In the past I have done bath crayons, the fizzy bath snowball things, the wash cloths compressed into a little square, small books, yo-yo, finger puppets, toothbrush, toothpaste, flossers (dinosaur shaped from Target), little brush for scrubbing fingernails, fun little travel soaps, shampoos, lip balm.

One year there was a seasonal shop at the mall called "Stufferz" that was quite useful!

I will just have to keep looking because no matter how much I put in there the "bottomless" stocking is almost never full. And when it is full I have to prop it up on the floor against the fireplace because the loop it hangs from is very delicate! Definitely a design flaw! :D

When I was growing up, the rule was when you wake up on Christmas morning, you can have everything in your stocking, just don't wake up mom and dad! They always gave us fruit, candy and an Atari game to keep us busy until they got up. We do the same now, but of course it's a gameboy game! We sometimes put in a couple other things, like this year they're getting Belle and Cinderella electric toothbrushes and Princess toothpaste, but all the "real" presents that we want to see them open go under the tree. I work 2nd shift, so if they let me sleep til 9am on Christmas morning, that's present enough for me!

DS is getting $10 Disney Dollars, a baby Mickey beanie (on sale at TDS), a small Star Wars Lego set and maybe a Blockbuster GC.

I am putting the Disney Guides for kids in my older kids stockings. They are ages 12, 10, & 9. I would say definately not for your 5 yr old. As far as your 7 yr old goes, you may want to check one out at your local bookstore to make the call. There are lots of pictures in the book and a place in the back to record all your memories of your trip, also places to put pictures and some pages for autographs. I guess it would depend on how much your 7 yr old likes to read.

The Dollar Spot at Target has some great stuff right now. Including--scented socks! My DD got some from a bday party she went to and just purchased some to give to another friend of her cause she thought they were so cool! Hers were tootsie roll, but they had sugar daddy and blow pop ones too.

I hope the undies aren't scented! I bought a pair for my 12yo DD becasue she was making fun of them one day and I thought she's get a laugh out of them but if they are scented the laugh will be on me. LOL

I went a little crazy in the stocking department this year for my boys, 2 and 4. I got them spinning tootbhbrushes, incredibles "magic" washclothes, Pez Santa, gummi bears, those water pellets that turn into animals, card games (old Maid and Go Fish) and Icredibles underwear. I know there is more because I can't fit it all in the stocking. Let's put it this way I have more fun buying stocking stuff then the "real" presents. :cool1:

When my DS (now 10) was 5, he bought a giant pickle from a street vendor at Disneyland. That's how we discovered his love of all things sour. Last year, Santa left him a small jar of pickles in his stocking (also a lemon in the bottom instead of the traditional orange). He still talks about it and amazingly, still believes!

I also want to hear more about Christmas traditions (not just about stockings).....I believe children remember more about the things we do each year, whether it be a funny or serious things. (Sorry, kinda off the Budget topic now)

My girls will probably never remember that I gave them a Polly Pocket for Christams, 2004!! But, they will remember that we always read the story of Jesus' birth out of our BIG family Bible before opening one present on Christmas Eve!!

As far as traditions I always leave a couple of presents unwrapped under the tree that the kids can play with before they get me up so I get a little sleeping in time. I would like to say I started this on purpose but these are usually those hard to wrap gifts that are just easier to leave unwrapped. :)

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm a over-worked Mom trying to finish up the wrapping, baking, have to bring this or that to this or that party and well forget the house cleaning. But I love the help with ideas on this thread.

I used to also get fruit and nuts but I had given up on that. I'll think I'll start that again, maybe only to make my kids more appreciative!

Our stockings also get so heavy I don't even hang them anymore, just prop them up on the fireplace. Plus if we start a fire the choc candy would all melt if they are too close. Did that once or twice!

I actually came up with an even number of stuff for each, a true miracle at Christmas!!

Love the Disney or Mickey coke bottles idea, my daughter bought a pack for her brother and they were not disney, I would have for sure noticed them if they had them! I'll keep my eyes peeled on my clearance rack shopping day (Dec 26)!!

God has already blessed us this Christmas. My heart aches for our military families who will not be spending the holidays together. Have a safe, happy, fun and sane Christmas!

I just love this thread! One thing we did when my kids were 3 and under was when we go to McDonalds, we all got happy meals. We would save the toys ( my kids didn't know there were toys in the meals, lol) . We always got the under 3 toys because they were really nice ones made by Fisher Price. They still have most of the little cars! lol

Now that the kids are 8 and 9 we put in one of those fun sized boxes of cereal of their favorite kind. They love it because I don't buy the sugar ones at home normally! I just love to come up with stuff for the stockings!

I have older stepkids that I still do stockings for . The girls like anything beauty wise. The guys I get manicure kits, shaving cream, deorderant. Even though they are young adults, I still get them a special stuffed animal. Even though they won't admit it, I still see their smile when they see it, so I know they still love it.

But my favorite thing I like to buy for everyone is novelity candy! I know it is expensive but it is so much fun! :flower1:
