Need ideas for stocking stuffers. I have a 5 month old, 4 year old and 10 year old. What is everyone else doing for their children?

DS 6 new water bottle for school, small magic trick, flashlight, candy, silly putty, movie ticket gift card

DD 22 mo. New drinking cup, Disney princess socks, small bath toys, Disney spinning light

Both always get new toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, bubble bath

Since we are only doing one present each this year my stocking stuffers are off limits to the one present rule so Im trying to be creative of what I can fit in this year.

DD12- Monsters University dvd, girl pop karaoke cd and a rainbow dash equestrian doll that was in a skinny enough box to fit.

I need to look in my closet I dont think I have anything else hiding that I forgot about

Those are great items!!

I was thinking about getting a sippy cup specific for 6+ months age and those plastic links for the 5 month old but I'm not really sure what else to get. I don't want her stocking to be skimpy even though she won't know the difference.

My 4 year old I was thinking a couple hot wheels, bath soap but not sure what else

My 10 year old I got 2 necklaces, 2 bracelets, thinking of shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, nail polish?

Ok. Maybe I am missing something, but why would you give your DD shampoo, conditioner and deodorant in a Christmas stocking? To me, that is equivalent to putting coal in the stocking.

Nail polish hits the fun list, perhaps some polish remover too!

For the same reason, I personally do not like the bath soap idea either.

For the 6 mo old-two sippy cups will fill the stocking more than 1 cup will. And you've got a toy too!

Sorry about my opinion, I am struggling with what to put in DD's stocking too. I considered getting some laundry soap (1-load packets) as she is going to Europe for a class in January, and I gave myself the coal-chat too.

Candy (since its a rare treat), Barnes and Noble gift cards, colorful socks, rainbow loom elastics. That's all I have for now.

I just did my stocking stuffer shopping trip this afternoon. I bought socks, underwear, bubble bath, shampoo and body wash, lip gloss, earrings, gloves, christmas candy. I like to check out the international food section for some cool candy/snacks that we don't normally buy.

How big are y'alls stockings that you can fit all that stuff into a stocking?

I also agree that buying shampoo, conditioner, body wash and deodorant as stocking stuffers is way off base from cool fun stuff that kids want in stockings. Buying personal hygiene items should be a daily given item that you provide to your kids, not as a gift.

My kids stockings are normal size custom stockings with their name embroidered on them. And I only ever fill them with candy items. We don't buy or keep candy in our house much except for candy holidays like Halloween and Easter. So I get them a bunch of Christmas type items like the Life Saver books and the big plastic candy cane shaped things full of candy. I spent $60 on 3 kids stocking stuffers but got a few too many items to fit.

Why because you say so?
My kids actually like getting that stuff, my dses have requested a couple different Axe sets and my dd has asked for some expensive hair products. They think that stuff is cool. I don't keep my shower stocked on a daily basis with a bottle of shampoo and a bottle of conditioner, and body wash for each person in the house, they actually like getting their own stuff so they don't have to share the big bottle of shampoo we all use. To each their own though.

Totally agree! I am a couponer and have a small stash of 'acceptable' hair care products but for my birthday I asked for a nicer brand that has never been on sale. Love using it!

OP - I have a little one also. Some ideas I read about for his stocking were sippy cups, finger puppets, small book, baby socks or booties.

As someone who always got toothbrush tooth paste and hygiene products from santa along with the fun stuff, I always enjoyed it and the products were generally a bit nicer or special then the everyday stuff.

Its a tradition that I'll be sure Santa continues in my family.

As for DD, since this is her first christmas old enough to start to appreciate santa we are going light on her stocking this year. Tooth brush and Training tooth paste a doll and some candy.

Yes because I say so. My thoughts my opinion. I let my kids pick their own personal hygiene items.

Axe body spray is a little bit different than deodorant and shampoo.

I also don't agree with giving kids socks and underwear as gifts. i think those are things parents should provide their kids as needed not as a gift.

I always put body wash with the stockings. My step mom always did so I do too.
My kids always get a new movie, holiday chapsticks, mini flashlights, some kind of small card or board game and candy. My oldest will also get iTunes gift card and earbuds. I'm thinking to add car chargers for the younger ones Kindles.

Oh, for the baby they make these little character towel things with chew ends on them. I got those for my two when they were little and they hauled them around forever.

What you do is fine for you kids, but your post comes off a little holier than thou.

I don't give them Axe body spray, I give them Axe shampoo and body wash.

And yes, I even give my kids boxers and socks for Christmas. I mean its not like I don't provide them when they are needed, they just get some extras at Christmas time.

I kind of agree.

I think that when my kids are older and want more expensive personal care items I will gift them. I get the biggest bottles of Philosophy body wash/lotion for Christmas. Do I need soap? Yeah... Does it need to be the "good stuff"? No... So it's gifted.

I can also see giving a kid cool socks as a "filler" gift.

I totally get what you're saying about not giving kids things that you, as a caregiver, are responsible for providing though. :)

Oh man you should see the stuff I give as "gifts" here!:rotfl:

I give socks, underwear, personal hygiene items in stockings as well as candy and "fun items". They take up space and I buy the more expensive or nicer stuff then I normally would just pick up on sale.

My 14 year old son loves Kraft dinner and Ramen noodles but I refuse to buy them normally as I think they are "junk". For Christmas though he gets a Costco sized case of each and LOVES it. It's the only time he gets them and it's a fun/joke gift.

Also he is always running out of socks, can't find them ect. so I bought him a 20 pair pack and will wrap it up. I love buying my kids "joke gifts" like this. It's funny!

When you have a "my thought my opinion" kind of moment, refrain!! that is rude and insulting to others! I don't give my kids shampoo, conditioner etc as gifts but who am I to say what others do. Too bad that sentiment isn't shared across the Internet. Of course the parents provide them as needed, but getting them extra is not a big deal. When I was a kid my mom gave me new Christmas socks and underwear. I liked getting that stuff along with all my other gifts.

Back to topic: I stuff the kids stockings with crayons, coloring books, the Disney infinity power disc for DS, a new Frozen cup for DD, candy because its a treat, and still looking for some other things! :)

Maybe Santa should put a sock in your stocking so you can shove it in your mouth when you have a "my thought my opinion" kind of moment that is rude and insulting to others! Refrain! Way to spread that holiday cheer!
