Stock Holder Perks?

Just the ones you seem to be aware of.....

aka nothing but thrill of knowing you are an owner.

They did away with the discount about 12 years ago to the best of my recollection.

Yep, Sandy, you are correct. None, nada, zip. But the stock cert. is really nice.

Owning Disney stock is like it's own personal roller coaster ride!

That is not a slam at Disney, but it has seen it's ups and DOWNS in recent years!!!

Wait, I forgot.....my dividend check is usually enough to buy a bucket of popcorn in MK:p

Does anyone know if there are any perks or discounts to be had for Disney Stockholders?

At one time, they were offering $10.00 off the price of a Disney Club membership. That was during the time when most club memberships were free, but the upgraded club membership included a 1800 number and a free luggage tag and the membership was good for 2yrs. (That was a while ago :) ) .
I have also seen discounts for the Stage Productions (such as Beauty and the Beast) at various times.
I think one year, Disney had some sort of partnership with a computer manufactuer and they were offering a discount on PC's--but, by the time I received the information, they were all sold out (I think that offer was about 12 years ago).

Most of the perks I have seen were available from other sources, too, so they were not really very exclusive...

I don't recall seeing any offers lately.

I've heard that if you head right into Town Hall at MK and let them know you are a Disney stockholder, they will give you free . . .

sympathy  :teeth:

Don't need any sympathy, free or otherwise. The stock has doubled since we bought it.

I have 12x's the amount I purchased in 1990. I am content.

One other perk that no one mentioned. Filling out additional paper work with the IRS each year!

I do it online, no biggie.

My wife used to be an accountant and does the paperwork for our taxes each year. She refuses to do them on-line or to use software to prepare them. She has her own spread sheet that does all the calculations. The accountant in her didn't think it was worth purchasing the software when she gets the same results with her spread sheet.

I fianally talked her into using one of the tax preparer software this past year and you would have thought she had found gold. She liked it so much because next year she just has to run the update, enter our W-2 figures, etc. and its done. She still insist on submitting via paper, though. She doesn't want to spend money to file electronically when we get so little back. But, all of the forms are generated by the software so she doesn't have to run to the post office, etc, trying to locate the proper forms. I know she has printed the forms off the web, but she still had to fill them out manually. She just thinks the time she will save next year will be worth the cost of the upgrade.

I file online with Intuit. The cost is minimal, less expensive than the software (I only do it for me anyway) and it includes electronic filing for both Fed. and State. It also will hold the info from year to year. This was my second year using it and, like your wife, I thought I had found gold!!!! The refund from the state was in my bank account in 3 days and the Fed refund in my bank in 10 days. Worked for me!!!!! :)
