Just getting back to posting after a long dry "no WDW" spell.

I have been tentatively planning a trip next year. I was trying to decide between spring or fall, but now that I have heard about Stitch's Great Escape opening late next year, I am going to wait until it opens. I hope it's not too late in the year!

Stitch's Great Escape! will debut in 2004, replacing ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter (which has now closed). The new Tomorrowland attraction will showcase the "fun mayhem" caused by "Experiment 626" when first discovered by the Galactic Federation. The Grand Councilwoman will recruit members of the audience to provide additional security for the captured alien.

But is it still a FAST ride ? Scarey ?
My kids refused to go on the Alien Encouter because of the speed of the ride - they hate roler costers.

So is Stitch still a roller coaster ?

 AE is not a roller coaster. You sit still in chairs and listen, see, and feel the alien.

Alien Encounter was scary, but it was more a show than a ride. The chairs you were strapped in didn'y even move. I bet Stitch is kind of similar. I think it should be fun. I love Stitch!

I think Stitch's Great Escape is a terrific idea! Good move!

AE was a dark, mean-spirited attraction that didn't appeal to a lot of people. While it certainly had its supporters, I was not one of them.

Rest in pieces, AE.

Last Thursday my 2 DD's were picked to help w/ the new Stitch attraction.
We were in line for EMH about 7:30 and they asked for kids w/ heights between 35 and 44 inches to help w/ a ride. They did not give any information but I had read here about the re-work of AE so I wanted to see how much I could find out.
They walked about 10 kids and parents back to AE where there were about 10 Imagineers and staff waiting for them. They measured each kid and they put the harnesses down on them. They took video and a ton of pictures documenting the info. About 30 mins later they thanked us and gave us all 4 passes to basically go to Fast Pass line for any 4 rides.
We got out same time as EMH started so we did not miss any park time and still got the passes for later.
On a side note we used them on Buzz, Splash Mountain, Tomorrow speedway (the CM could not believe we were using the passes on that ride. He said "Do you know you can use these passes on ANY ride?. We looked at the huge line and said "This will do"), and Dumbo when there was a HUGE line. We got several nasty comments and looks but it was great!

I'm going to miss the Alien Encounter ride, but my 9 year old boy has become a big Stich fan. He's looking forward to the new attraction.
Is there any place in Disney world where you get to meet Stich?

:wave2:

Yeah, I will miss AE too, but I really really really LOVE Stitch. The only thing I didn't like was when I saw a little girl get "picked", and she was so frightened. I felt so bad.

Lilo and Stitch have been hanging out over at Disney Studios, near the Animation Studios

We saw Lilo and Stitch about a 2 months ago greeting people after the Cinderella show at the Castle Forecourt in MK.
