Is this a renamed attraction that used to be ET?? I remember doing this (last visit was 12 years ago!) and the bars come down over your shoulders and you feel the breathing and it "explodes" at the end and you feel the spray of it?? Do you think this would be too scary for my 5 year old daughter?

It used to be Alien Encounter. Instead of an evil alien there is now an evil Stitch. It is still a bit scary, but it is really disgusting when he burps near the end and it smells like chili dogs. Couldn't get that smell out of my nose for the rest of the day. Almost made me sick.

As for a 5 year old, I personally wouldn't. DS was 10 when we went on Alien Encounter and he crushed my hand and was white as a sheet when we came out. Stitch is dumbed down a little, but I still feel is pretty scary for little kids. Most of the show is in the dark, too.

I don't remember the exact name, but you sat in the seats and looked at a screen that was in the middle of the floor (this was in 1991 - it may have been renamed/rehabed a couple of times since then) - it was like you were blasting off and looking out the bottom of the space ship during launch, etc....and the seats made you feel like there were G-forces on you.....

Depends on your daughter - Stitches great escape is dark, with the sounds of things running above and behind you, breathing, etc.....DH and I thought it was neat....but it might be too intense for someone 5 yrs old....

That sounds like the old Mission/Journey to Mars, w/the inflatable seat cushions. Hadn't thought of that ride in years.

My DD6 cried the whole time. She was terrified. No one in our family liked it. And if you are clausterphobic, you will be really freaked out !!! And we were mad that we waited over 45 min. (during Spring Break) for a ride we didn't like. Never again !!! :sad2:

We thought it was the worst attraction we have ever been on anywhere. My DD5 was terrified through the whole thing. My other DD5 was just irriated  One of them said, I don't even know why they call it a ride. It was horrible. Not the least bit entertaining.

When we did Stitch two years ago, we walked right on with no wait, but it totally wasn't worth it. It's pitch black and IMMEDIATELY after the lights went out, about 10 kids started screaming and crying. You're locked into your seat. The chili dog burp smell stays with you all day long. I would only recommend it to my worst enemy. (Can you tell I hated it?)

My family and I are Stitch fans. We find it cute and funny. (yes even the chili dog smell). :confused3

We wouldn't wait long for it, but it is often 10 minutes or less. And it is a good place to get a break from the heat.

It does go completely pitch dark for a few moments so that is what would potentially scare your DD. Only you know for sure.

And I wouldn't call Stitch evil, more mischievious.

Complete waste of time. Scarry for little kids and just irritating for adults.

My 7 & 10 year olds went to it for the 1st time last week and liked it and werent scared at all.

Really I’m about 15 years older and I find the ride to be terrifying. Terrifyingly bad that is.

It is a shame that such a great AA is wasted. The Stitch AA is actually a very advanced and impressive AA.

I would not take my 5 year old (or 8 year old) on it b/c it can be scary to some and I don't want to deal with nighmares the rest of the week and scaring him of other non threatening rides that may be in the dark (like IASW or POC).

So much hating on this one. Definitley agree it is not suitable for younger kids because it gets dark and they get scared.

On the positive side, the animatronics and effects are really good. The story actually is pretty good, if you know it is a prequel to the movie.

The chilidog smell certainly didn't "stay with me all day". It was disgusting for about 5 seconds, which is what it was supposed to be. You'll see similar comments about other attractions like ITTBAB.

I kind of like it, but I think due to ratings it will probably get replaced and go the way of something like Sounds Dangerous or Body Wars and be open only some of the time (that is the kiss of death for an attraction).

Yey, we liked it too. Until reading this thread, I didnt realise so many people dont like it which is a shame :(

I think it's kind of fun - something different :) It is a good story like a PP said, and I think it's quite clever.

There was lot's of screaming when we went on it, but it was "good" screaming with everyone laughing. The kids that rode with us loved it! But for a 5y.o....I could see how it would be a tad frightening.

For a young kid it can be very scary but it depends on the kid. My youngest who was about 5 or 6 when she saw it liked the "ride" but my oldest will not see it. If in doubt skip the attraction.

I think it is pretty well done. A few puffs of air, sounds, vibrations, and smells mixed with the dark can scare the heck out of people. :lmao: But I have seen it once or twice and it is not an attraction I need to see again.

Later,
Dan

Did you ever ride Alien Encounter?

LOl. I rode Alien Encounter as a teen and it was TERRIFYING....

Stitch is not too bad, though :) My kids rode it the first time at 5 and 7 and they liked it..of course, my kids are pretty brave too. There's not much we do that really fazes them :)

Stitch is my little girl's favorite character and she would rather do this ride than most of the others just to "live in the moment" with Stitch. I think far too many people complain about this ride when there are others in the parks that are just plain silly and a waste of time IMO. I will vote for Stitch each and every time because he brings joy to my daughter, chili dog burps and all:eek:
