I cannot speak highly enough of the private dining CMs at the GF, the chefs, the pastry team or the butlers we have enjoyed in the past. Every single time we have set something special up there or even just ordered hamburgers/hot dogs at a poolside cabana there it has been a 'grand' experience. I guess I am a sucker for being pampered.I am utterly AMAZED by your entire dinner!!! It was the perfect personalized menu, the perfect location..just WOW. It is SO amazing at what the people who work at Disney can do and how they can make you feel so special. I never dreamed you could have a meal like that! Sounds you you two had a perfect mother son evening![]()
The details always amaze me. I couldn't even dream up half of what they do and even if I could dream it up there is no way I could execute it. The pastry team at the GF is second to none (in my opinion). I love the edible works of art that they create!WOW WOW WOW.....what a delicious looking tray of Toy Story "goodness" for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love how they add the smallest of details. Everything looked so yummy!!! I wanna eat some of that right now...hahahaha. I want a birthday treat like that someday!!!!! Just amazing Jay...again, you outdid yourself. I can't wait to see what the other boys get on their special trips...as far as dessert goes!!!![]()
Ha ha ha, Stitch and I tried to make a dent in the tray for the rest of our stay and still ended up bringing most of the chocolate and fondant pieces home to be frozen for future use (I couldn't bear to throw those cute little LGMs away). I should have posted a warning to have a sweet snack available while looking at those pictures...they really do get your sweet tooth to make your mouth water.wow...your meal and that dessert tray looked awesome! Now I am hungry for chocolate! LOL!
Sure, let's plan a trip!SPECTACULAR! is all I can say. From your meal, to your service, to that amazing dessert tray - it was just so perfect!
(Jay, my birthday is this month (and it's a big one!) will you take me to Disney World to celebrate, please?)
I know I way over did the pictures, but I couldn't help myself. The detail on the tray was so intricate. I was floored looking at it in person (and still am sitting here at home thinking back on it). That truly was an amazing dinner. The dessert tray was awesome ! You described it so well I felt like I was right there at the table with you and Stitch.
The main person I worked with told me that the head pastry chef took my projects as mini challenges.Jay scores again!!!!So perfect, so amazing, so awesome! I love having one on one time with each child and this is certainly the way to do it! Fabulous!

Ha ha ha, I can do it from a box BUT, I am lazy about even that. A friend once told me to dump a single can of Coke, Sprite or whatever kind of soda would work well with the flavor of cake you have in with one bag of boxed mix. Stir until mixed and then cook according to the directions on the box. No eggs, no water, no oil. Just one can of soda, mix and pour in the pan. It works great. Tastes much more moist, has fewer calories (if you use diet soda) and is impossible to mess up.That dessert tray is awesome! I always am envious of people that are so creative. I have a hard time making a plain cake from a mix.
How neat that you two were able to view Wishes from your spot. That is a special night you two will always remember.
I am pretty sure I gasped when I saw it. It was beyond what I had been hoping for! How is your sweet dd doing? Is she getting into everything yet?I am...oh...I...speechless. That dessert tray was...WOW. I can't even imagine what you must have felt when you saw that!!!!!!
I know, I keep thinking, there is NO way they can top the Pluto cake or the Indiana Jones dessert tray but I was still in awe when the Toy Story one came out. I am looking forward to working with them again (sooner than later would be much more funWOW that's such a cool cake!! Hard to top that one......
BUT THEY DID!!!!OMG that Toy Story dessert tray is awesome!! OMG the little traffic cones! And the chocolate boot, and the universe behind Buzz!!
Totally amazing!! What a great evening you and Stitch had!!

It was even better in person (it looked even more amazing, smelled so good and tasted even better).Wow! I'm speechless over that tray and I didn't see it in real life!
I had heard of 'intimate dinners' before at the GF but I had forgotten all about them. I was beyond excited when I called and they suggested it to me!I had no idea that anyone could arrange to have a private dinner like that at the GF. That was such a great birthday dinner for Stitch. That Toy Story dessert was just incredible!
I so want to take my kids on Mommy & Me trips after reading this TR! What a blast to be able to spend the one on one time with each child.
Thanks for that. Sorry to hear that you lost your dad as well. It's not an easy thing to go through for anyone, I imagine. I think of him up there being a joker and having fun doing it. I hope your dad has a sense of humor.Just read the whole thing. Great TR. I'm so sorry for your loss. He's hangin out with my dad!! And my daddy is a fun guy!

They do, don't they! It's amazing that one company can have so many talented employees. Lucky for all of us, I guess. The entire dinner and dessert tray were simply amazing. Disney must employ some of the most talented and creative people in the world. Again, great planning Mom!
Oh yes, and that picture of the boys is wonderful!

It is so much fun to watch them changing and growing. It's just all happening so fast. I still think of him as the LP myself. But, Buzz also seems to fit him...at least as he gets more active and into just about everything.Jay ............ Thank you for the info. I have started seting up my private dining with the grand floridian. This is going to be wonderful!
I love the new picture of your boys...It is wonderful, Little Prince is getting so big! I know that isn't his name any more, but I fell in love with your trip reports during the cruise, and this is how I always think of him.
How did you make your cool countdown things? I love how it flashes and has 'real' pictures! The dinner turned out wonderfully! The food looked veryyyy yummy and the dessert tray was amazing! It's making my stomach growl.
The pic of the boys is very sweet, I love the brown shirts/brown background/jeans/hardwood floor/barefeet combo.![]()
If you are interested, I can PM you the email address for private dining at the GF. Just let me know. You could also call the cake hotline and once you make all of the choices through on that, you eventually have a choice to pick 'private dining' at the Grand Floridian and they are the ones who arrange 'intimate dinners' at the GF. To have a personalized cake or dessert tray you have to be staying at or dining at the GF. They won't deliver to another resort or even allow you to pick it up. That's just fine by me though, I love to dine there (and it's also one of my favorite resorts to stay at). I think you can get cakes at almost any other resort too (although the cakes I have gotten at other resorts are not the works of art like the ones I have gotten at the GF....they were however ADORABLE and great in their own rights).your son looks super happy in these pictures! How special that you got the chance to spend those moments with him!
p.s-wow...i knew disney did specialized cakes and such, but i didnt realize they did all of that! my parents and i are going in october for my 25th birthday...the private dinning sounds like sooooo much fun. how/where did you get the information to call?
I have REALLY missed you, Linda. Don't be such a stranger! In fact, if you have the chance, we should catch up soon. I have some more dates to run by you for a hopeful time to meet up at WDW!WHAT a great dinner! Love the new photo of the boys, Jay. It's amazing how much they've grown in just a year.
I am glad you are good at changing the subject, I totally fumble around looking for something else to say. Dh says I get a 'guilty look'. Thankfully the boys don't think they might be getting a surprise each time (although I am guessing they might start to since I am becoming a bit addicted to arranging them) so they don't really ask anything about them. I once tried to make a trip a surprise, but I ended up spilling the beans because they brought me their piggy banks and asked me if they could help pay their own way to WDW that year. Talk about melting my heart (and the seal on my mouth).Well Jay, you have really outdone yourself this time. What a childs dream. All those sweets following that great meal. I'm certain he felt so special (as he should) with that wonderful evening you planned for him. I bet he has a great day following that evening. Can't wait to read.
I absolute loved the picture of the boys. They are so good looking. I know how proud you must feel.
Yes, as we get closer it is hard not to talk. But we are good and anytime one of the one's who doesn't know starts asking what we are doing on vacation we change the subject. School gets out the day before we leave so the grandkids are busy with end of school activity for now. Good thing.
Ginny
I know, the little nugget still has such sweetly chubby legs/feet/cheeks. I will surely miss that when he gets bigger. What a fabulous cake! Disney never fails to amaze me!
I loved the picture of the boys! They are all getting so big, even my little nugget!! Love those chubby legs of his!!![]()
Sure, let's plan a trip! What's better than a WDW birthday celebration? Are you going to work on a treat for your family? If so and you are ever interested in 'talking' about it, PM me. I love surprise details!
**Forgive me if I am confused about this, I plead that the boys use up a few of my brain cells each day. Ha ha.**
