Stitch's Great Escape...A Mom and Me Birthday Celebration! *7/26 Link to new PTR*

Jay,
Glad to see you are getting back in the swing of thing. I totally enjoy your trip reports! One of my children is also a loyal follower of your stories.
Can't wait to hear more!

Beautiful pictures! All the ones of you and Stitch are great. :goodvibes What a wonderful day around Epcot and so many rides on TT! :thumbsup2 I bet it's like a dream come true to Stitch to pick whatever he wants to do, and it sounds like you guys were able to cover a lot because it was just two of you.

The lime green Mickey ears were awesome! I wish they would keep those!!

The room looks really beautiful, was the bedding soft? It doesn't look like the normal Disney comforters that are kinda stiff and very hotel-like, they look like nice soft comforters! If so, I hope they bring those into ALL the resorts and DVC!

Joining in for another one of your fabulous reports!!! Can't wait for more....the pictures of you and Stitch are fantastic! :goodvibes

I'm doing the happy dance - YAY - Jay is back!!! :cheer2: You are always so positive and move past the negative with such grace - it's inspiring.

I'm debating how long to keep the rental car when DS and stay at the Coronada. Could you please keeep posting the travel times ny bus to the various parks and other resorts? It's her first visit and I don't want to be waiting for buses or having to take lots of extra time to get places.

Great update - I am loving this trip! Great picture of you and Stitch at Epcot. :thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a nice day together and got lots of rides in! :cool1:

Jay I'm so sorry about your Dad

Your Epcot day sounds fantastic, you and Stitch got lots done and my girls can't wait to try out Kim Possible! Love the towel animal too, very cute!

I am glad to see you are back. I have really enjoyed reading all your tr's. We just got back from our trip and I want to thank you for taking your time and writing all about your trips. I was searching for a limo service when I read your report and I called and knew they were the ones I wanted to go with. I am so glad I did. My son was so surprised and loved every minute of it. It was a fun time. Can't wait to hear more.

just back from the world myself and glad to see i have your trip report to come home to. as always...enjoying your report. i haven't started mine yet but i took my que and suggestions from you and set up little surprises for mom. i'll post a link when i begn. thanks again for all of your advice.

It's good to have you back, Jay.

I LOVE this picture!

It sounds like you had a great day at Epcot! Stitch must have been in heaven getting to call most of the shots and do all his favorites over and over again. What a lucky boy!
It was, indeed, a very fine day for both of us! And he did have so much fun being able to say when it was time to stop for a snack, which ride was next (the low crowds made giving him more control of that possible) and when it was time to stop for the day. I tried to let him feel like he was leading our group (even if I did a lot of 'secret' filtering of choices I presented to him ;) ).

It's good to be back! :goodvibes

I'm happy to see you posted today.....and that you are hanging in there. You have such a wonderful outlook on life. I'm glad you are doing okay.

It sounds like you and Stitch had a great day at Epcot. That Kim Possible adventure sounds like so much fun. I definitely want to try that when we finally go back someday.

Oh I see you guys leave for DC soon. I would love to hear about it when you get back. I want to take my kids there someday.
Kim Possible was a lot of fun. The only part of it that got to be a little bit much for me was the volume level. I felt like the Kimmunicator was screaming at us. ;) And I hoped we weren't disturbing other people who were just trying to enjoy the WS.

I cannot wait to enjoy the Kim Possible Adventure with the other boys when we take their birthday trips as well. I know that they will love it too!

So glad you are back Jay. I'm still praying for you and your family.
 Thank you!

I"m glad your back! :grouphug:

Looks like a wonderful day in Epcot! Stitch must have been in heaven not having to share or consider anyone else's feelings in what he wanted to see and do during the day!! Talk about a dream come true! And for you! A whole day of no fighting over who's turn it was to use the Kimmunicator!! :rotfl: A mom/son trip like that sounds perfect!! :thumbsup2
It was great (even if I was in severe 'rest-of-the-family withdrawl' by the time we got back). Hee hee. I was really enjoying seeing Walt Disney World through his eyes. Who would have thought that he just wanted to walk around the World Showcase? Not even stopping most places (which is more my style to be honest) but he wanted to 'walk around the world' and so that it what we did. He had so many funny little moments like that where I saw WDW the way he was seeing it. I loved what I saw! :)

Glad you are feeling a bit better :goodvibes. Loved the update and pictures. You and Stitch got so much done in Epcot this day. The towel clown is cute too.
We did get a L-O-T done! I think that is why we were both so wiped out by the time we were done. ;) I also think my feet are hoping to never have such a productive day at EPCOT again. HA HA. Stitch loved skimming through the World Showcase which I have never done before (I get side tracked and either end up there for the rest of the day trying to see it all or I end up only hitting a few countries because I run out of time;) ). That towel clown is not even half as awesome looking in the picture as it is in person! I cannot imagine the time it must have taken our mousekeeper to make that! It's really awesome!

Glad to see you back! You have such a positive attitude, it will help you through anything, even a time as difficult as this.:flower3: Loved the Epcot installment!
I figure I have two choices, I can sit and wallow or I can stand up and keep going. Sitting and wallowing wouldn't do anything but cause more grief, so I didn't really have any other choice. ;) Life is too amazing to waste it huddled up in sorrow.

EPCOT is always a fun park day!

Hi Jay! It was good to see your latest post... I know these past weeks have been a very hard time.
I love that you and Stitch just wandered and enjoyed doing whatever he wanted to do. I didn't know about the sandwiches at Norway, I will remember this... and the school bread! :)
I had to laugh when you said that by the end of the the day you stopped at the hot tub and soaked your feet! We did the same thing on our last day and it was wonderful! I remember my feet felt like I had encased them in cement, they were so worn out.
T.C. is so cute and Stitch playing with him on his bed is sweet. :goodvibes Love those CM's and their towel creations!
Those sandwiches...YUM! I have now put that little bakery on my 'must visit' list for each and every trip!

My feet really needed the hot tub time that night! You are right, the soaking really does help!

T.C. is proudly displayed in one of our bathrooms. Ha. We love that little brightly stickered hand towel. ;) He is such a cool towel creation!

And thanks for the hug!

Hi Jay,
Glad to see you're back. I absolutely loved the photo of you and Stitch at Epcot, it has love written all over it. Looks like you had a wonderful day together. I would love to take a trip with each of my daughters as well, It would be amazing. Your opinions on the resort are so helpful as we are considering it for our next stay. I too am an AKL lover.:lovestruc As always, I am enjoying your tr, can't wait for more. My prayers are with you and your family.

Patti
I really enjoyed staying at the CSR. While I wouldn't say it has replaced any of my 'very favorite' resorts (AKL or the CR), it was a great place to stay! Both Stitch and I had a lot of fun there!

Being able to focus on totally enjoying one of your children was a treat for me. I hope you are able to enjoy the same sort of fun one day with your girls! :)

wow...you rode a lot of rides!! You mentioned St Patricks Day...was your trip around then and how were the crowds. We are thinking about going in early Feb before the value season ends but my parents might want to go in March instead if they go to Jamaica in Feb (i know rough life right??)

We are hoping for lower crowds and a little better temps (better than 20 degress in Ohio at that time anyways ;))
We were there 3/6-3/13 and we were told that it was usually very crowded that time of year but due to Easter falling so late in the year combined with economic factors it was very slow.

Yeah, really rough. :rotfl: The Caribbean or Walt Disney World. What a fun chioce to make! I will have to say, the weather was picture perfect. Very little rain, lower 80s during the day (down to about 60* at night) and not very humid. It was great weather wise!

What a fun trip! As my family is contuing to grow I treasure any one on one time I have with my kids. To have that time at Disney to boot... AWESOME!

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I know this has been a pretty long battle for him. I send prayers and peace to you and your family.

That looks like an awesome day at Epcot. I can't wait til my kids are a little older and we can do Kim Possible missions too.
It was a really unique sort of fun to be able to enjoy the one on one time with Stitch. It reminded me (not that I needed very much reminding at all) what a great little guy he is and just how much I adore him!!

Kim Possible is most definately fun!

And thank you for your prayers and kind words. I truly appreciate them!

I am so glad to see you back in action. That chicken salad looks delish. I'll be looking for it when we go.

You are such a good person. You know where your priorities lie and where you are needed and when. Kudo's to you.
Ginny
Thanks, Ginny. I am just a normal person trying to be worthy of the many blessings I have in my life. I hope that I can always keep my eyes on what is important in life, it would be very sad to loose track of that! Thanks for being so kind.

That chicken salad was great! Every part of it was (down to the tasty bread it was served on).
Glad to you see that you are back Jay I missed you.
:hug:It's good to be back! Thanks for sticking around.

I am so glad your'e back. We all missed you!:grouphug: I will continue to pray for you and your family.

I can't believe how much you accomplished in one day at Epcot! It takes us a whole day just to get through Future World. I guess it makes a difference when there are only 2 people. Great update!
It usually takes our family a full day to 'do' Future World as well. We just skimmed over most things this time (by Stitch's choice) and kept going back again and again to his favorite things. I guess having the mindset of being on a mission (which is how I would describe his style of park touring) gets you moving! ;)

Glad your back! Great update. I cannot remember the date you were there w/Stitch, but the crowds look low. I cannot wait to go back in the off season!! I remember riding splash mtn several times in a row back in Sept. 03. Yesterday, I got a post card with a pin for kids stay free w/free dining as well as a bridal magazine supplement to a mag I subscribe to. I joked and told DH that we were going to renew our wedding vows for our 20th (in 2 years) at the WP at the GF!!:bride: He told me I better loose some weight:eek: - which I need to! Maybe he'll consider the offer???? The updated CSR rooms look very nice. I like new the sliders to the bathrooms. Looking forward to more.
20 years? That's great! I love touring WDW in the off season! There were definatly more people in the parks later in the day (when we were leaving it was starting to fill up a bit) and I know that there were a few more people were there than we usually encounter during the fall BUT...it was a great treat for us with how uncrowded it truly ended up being. I am glad that Easter fell so late this year, that pushed most spring breaks back and gave us a wonderfully uncrowded WDW to enjoy! :)

Welcome back, Jay!! We missed you!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that first picture of you & Stitch. How sweet is that!

What a busy day at EPCOT. I was exhausted just reading about it.

Can't wait to hear more.

Hugs to you all.

Barb
Ha ha ha, I get tired again just thinking about all we did that day. ;) It's good to have you here, Barb!

What a great day! Great photo too-loved all your photos!

In less than 2 weeks I'll be at WDW with my DS(8) leaving his sisters (9 & 6) at home so I can relate to the day of possibilities you describe. I love our family trips-watching my children make memories together but my one on one trips with my children are really special too.
Both sorts of trips have such great advantages. I think any (any at all) time I get with my family (in whole or part) where we can just focus on each other (at WDW or anywhere else) is very special too! :cloud9:

Enjoy your time with your ds! Soak up the magic of WDW and the very special time with your son! :)

glad you're back Jay!

how fun your whole vacation must have been for Stitch. He must have felt like a prince! :cloud9: i asked for a Disney vacation from my parents for my graduation present, and it looks like it will be a rather large group of us going...but part of me wishes it was just my mother and i. And yes, i am 22 years old, .
 How fun, a Disney graduation celebration! What a cool idea! I hope you have tons of fun!!

This is so great! That picture of the two of you with his head on yours is just adorable -- you both look great and just in love with the day. :lovestruc

I'm really enjoying this Mom and Me and the relaxation that you two are feeling is bleeding right through the screen to me!! :cloud9:

Can't wait for more!!!!!! popcorn::
It was a truly amazing day! We had so much fun together! I wish we could have worked in a visit with my dear friend and her daughter too (hint, hint Skygirl/Figment) and also with another dear friend (hint, hint Barb) and her family. I will be looking forward to both of those in the future! :)

Fabulous pictures! You got so much done. You can tell that Stitch was having such a great time.

I love that clown towel too!
T.C. (or towel clown as he is otherwise known) lives happily in our home now. HA HA HA. We loved him. He was so perfect down to his paper cup hat.:thumbsup2

Jay,
Glad to see you are getting back in the swing of thing. I totally enjoy your trip reports! One of my children is also a loyal follower of your stories.
Can't wait to hear more!
Awww, a family of trip report readers...I hope one day soon I will get to sit and talk about the trip reports we have read together with my boys. :thumbsup2

Yes, the bedding was very comfortable and very soft. Both of us slept very well there (in our comfy beds). :)

I am interested in seeing of those ears are still there come September (when I get the chance to celebrate with Goofy). :)

Joining in for another one of your fabulous reports!!! Can't wait for more....the pictures of you and Stitch are fantastic! :goodvibes
:thumbsup2 Thanks! It's good to see you!

 Thank you for those words. I think most of the time, it's just a matter of making up your mind to focus on the positive and telling yourself that you can do it with the help of God and your family and friends. And that not only can you...but you have to for your family. :grouphug:

As far as the rental car, if it were me, I would keep it the entire time. I should admit, I am not a bus fan (anywhere, not just WDW). So, that does color my opinion, but it was the one thing I wished I would have been able to change about our vacation (I would have been happier had a rented a car). Overall, the bus service to the CSR is very good. Since you don't share with another resort, you know that you won't have any other stops along the way (unless you have a quick drop off scheduled at one of the water parks).

This is only the second trip that I have used bus transportation at WDW. Most of the time, we drive ourselves to the park, take the monorail or boat or even walk. The other resort we used the bus transport at was at AKL. And I would have to rate that higher than the CSR's bus services. Although neither of them share with another resort, AKL is so much smaller that you only had the one stop so once the bus arrived it was straight to the park (without three other stops before you left the resort).

If you just make sure to plan for the extra time it takes to get through the resort pick ups (about 10-20 minutes depending on how many people, if anyone with a wheelchair or ECV is waiting to get on, and how prepared others are to board when the bus gets to the stop **strollers folded, kids wrangled, knowing which park they want to go to that day**) it's not bad at all. Unless you are me and you just simply don't enjoy buses to begin with. ;)

Hope that helps.

Great update - I am loving this trip! Great picture of you and Stitch at Epcot. :thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a nice day together and got lots of rides in! :cool1:
Lots of rides equals lots of fun! :woohoo:

Jay I'm so sorry about your Dad

Your Epcot day sounds fantastic, you and Stitch got lots done and my girls can't wait to try out Kim Possible! Love the towel animal too, very cute!
Thanks, Jo. You and your girls are going to have a great time! :)

That's great! I am so happy you enjoyed their services as well. I thought that Sir Randolph's was so professional, kind and that they really went the extra mile. I am glad your son enjoyed it too!

I am working on the next update and will make sure to have it posted by tomorrow night. Thanks for sticking around! I look forward to sharing the rest of our fun with you all! :)

:mickeybarDay 3...We're Off to See the Yeti!

This day started with us heading to the Casitas bus stop once again and hoping for a quick pick up. And we were in luck, by chance, we just happened to sit down on a bus stop bench about a full fifteen seconds before the bus pulled up. Once again, it was good to be able to hop on the bus at the first stop. This time there was room for almost everyone to sit on the way to DAK but by the time we got to the last stop before leaving the CSR, families were having to split up to take single seats and pairs of seats scattered throughout the now full bus bus and a few people (I think it was just one couple) was left standing for the ride. By the time we rolled up to DAK, it was 8:57 AM. Perfect timing!

Our first stop once we got to Disney's Animal Kingdom was my favorite ride ever. Expedition Everest had very stiff competition from Splash Mountain but in the end, it just noses it out as my very favorite amusement park ride/Walt World Attraction/thrill ride ever. I was very happy to start the day off on such a fun note. And Stitch (a thrill ride addict himself) was happy to begin there as well. We were very happy to walk on three times in a row! How I love this sight! Once you see this...the real fun is mere seconds away!
wdwmarch09050.jpg

The third time we 'walked on' we had about a five minute wait. We took this as a hint to leave EE and head over to another thrilling favorite of Stitch's, Dinosaur! Along the way, we sort of got sidetracked by one very friendly dog...Pluto! I have to admit, seeing Pluto was bittersweet for me. He is my 9 year old son, Goofy's, very favorite character and both Stitch and I were wishing that he could take part in this character visit with us. But, being as he wasn't there ( ;) ) we just took a few pictures to share with him. Hee hee hee.
wdwmarch09056.jpg

wdwmarch09057.jpg

Since we had walked over near Primeval Whirl to say hello to Pluto, we decided to just take a 'spin' on that before heading on to Dinosaur. We had less than a five minute wait (yes!). Stitch very proudly informed the CM who was directing us to our seat's that it was his very first time to ever ride this ride. Once started to climb the first incline he looked a little bit anxious (I think he had spooked himself out over this one) but as soon as we started to zip around corners and spin our way over the ups and downs he was nothing but smiles and laughter. When we finally made it back to the future, Stitch happily gave the CM on the loading platform two big thumbs up and one his his hundred watt smiles when she asked him if he had liked his first time on Primeval Whirl. Someday some girl is going to really have her hands full with him. That smile charmed the CM who offered him the chance to stay on for a second ride. Stitch gladly accepted and we were off on another spin through prehistoric times.

Once we were done there, we walked over to Triceratops Spin (known in this family as the Dumbo Dinos) and took a quick whirl (no wait and less than ten other people on the ride with us). And then finally, we made our way over to where we had been heading in the first place, Dinosaur.

Once here we had no wait and joined the pre-show just as it was starting. Stitch loves this pre-show and was laughing out loud during a few parts of it. The second we stepped off of the ride, he asked if we could go again! Being as this was his birthday trip and we didn't have other family members who were either too scared, too prone to motion sickness or too small to ride it waiting for us, I was able to say yes. So, after a quick walk around, we hopped right back into the line (which did not exist) and joined the pre-show (which was about half way through by the time we got back in there). On our second walk out through the lobby, we stopped to do a bit of shopping (Stitch has a thing for dinosaurs). Here are some pictures of my happy little dino loving guy.
wdwmarch09053.jpg

He had great sound effects to go along with the poses. I wish I could have captured the sounds along with the images.
wdwmarch09054.jpg

Once he had put a dent in his spending money, he was ready to leave. On the way out, he stopped to pose with yet another dinosaur.
wdwmarch09055.jpg

The fast pass that we had grabbed for Expedition Everest was already well into it's window of opportunity, so we figured we would take trek to find a yeti. Did I mention how much both of us love this ride? EE ride number FOUR (and it wasn't even 11:00 AM!). On our way over, we stopped and had another photopass CM snap some more pictures of us. He was really nice and took a ton of them. Here are some of my favorites.
Image028.jpg

Yes, I am wearing socks with my Crocs (tisk tisk). It may be the ultimate fashion no no, but my feet were screaming yes yes to the cushiony comfort of Crocs and wicking socks. Please ignore the ultimate in non-fashiony statements. Ha ha.

Image037.jpg

Image041.jpg

Notice how the lines of Mt. Everest are mimicked in the silhouette of the shrine. Two thumbs up to the imagineers for perfecting that detail.
Image044.jpg

After EE, we made our way over to Kali River Rapids.

**An aside about what Stitch is wearing: I have no idea why he was still in his jacket, the day had gotten very warm (although it had started out in the lower 70s it was already in the lower 80s by the time this next picture was taken). I asked him over and over again if he wanted to take it off, but he insisted he wasn't too warm. Myself, I was already starting to 'glisten' (like a pig). **
wdwmarch09058.jpg

We didn't see anyone else (in front of or behind us) in line. Even when we made it to the loading platform, there was not another guest in sight (getting on or off of the ride). It was almost eerie. But it was also way cool. The CM who checked to make sure we were strapped in even had the time to offer to snap a picture of us (my camera is luckily waterproof and has a snug wrist strap so I was able to keep it out for the ride). I swear the poncho adds at least 20 pounds.
wdwmarch09059.jpg

Being as we were the only ones in our raft, I took full advantage of my picture snapping opportunity. Thus, I bring you my pictorial review of KRR. ;)

Our attempted self portrait.
wdwmarch09073.jpg

One very happy but v-e-r-y soaked Stitch.
wdwmarch09078.jpg

When it was over, I asked the loading CM if we could go again. This time we saw a few other guests (less than ten total) getting ready to load. We ended up going alone again though. Riding KRR alone is a lot of fun, it does however lead to an unbalanced raft and almost guarantee that you will go down backward over the big drop and get soaked. I should mention that Stitch is not in a poncho because he refused the one I had carried into the park for him. He said he wanted to get wet. :rolleyes1 As you can see in this next picture, he totally accomplished his goal!
wdwmarch09079.jpg

In fact, he was so stinking wet that I had to stop and buy him a shirt at one of the strategically located t-shirt carts at KRR's exit. I knew from previous experience that a wet Stitch and an air conditioned restaurant did not make for a good combination. And our next destination was Anandapur Yak and Yeti Restaurant.

As far as what filled our plates, we were both happy with our choices. We started out by sharing the wok fried green beans (each one is like a little crunchy piece of heaven...YUM). Since we were not on a dining plan that covered TS meals, Stitch was able to order off of the adult menu. He chose chicken lo mein. His plate was full of lo mein noodles, carrots, cabbage, green onions and bean sprouts. He said it was as good as the lo mein back home (high praise coming from him, he loves our local Chinese place).

I chose to go a bit lighter for lunch since I knew we had a big dinner planned later that evening. I chose the appetizer of lettuce cups for my lunch. They were just as good as I remembered them from last time. Minced chicken breast, chopped veggies, maple tamarind sauce, and crisp lettuce cups garnished with cilantro. Triple yum! I was very happy with my choice!

Neither of us had dessert because we were simply stuffed from our lunch. *Oink, oink*:cutie::rotfl:

After lunch we took advantage of a few more photopass stops. I had pre-purchased the photopass cd and memory book before we left. I wasn't going to let any opportunity (for more pictures to be added to our card) to slip past us. We stopped to say cheese a lot this vacation (and I am glad that we did). Here are some more Photopass pictures. We stopped to take this round on our way to It's Tough to be a Bug.

Showing off our love of the yeti.

As we were taking that last picture a small black snack slithered past just inches from our feet. We both jumped in surprise but quickly became so interested in the snake and where it may have gone that we cut our photo session short. Ha ha.Stitch showed his all boy nature and was fascinated by our chance encounter. He staked out the immediate area for another five minutes before giving up (I was hoping to snap a picture but it all happened so quickly and once he disappeared into the bushes, we never did see him again). Once he did, we made our way to the Tree of Life and our ant friend, Flik.

After buggin' out with our six legged friends, we both thought it was time to head back to the CSR and rest before our dinner that night. Along the way, Stitch wanted a Mickey bar...and he got one.

He devoured it while we strolled our way out of the park. We were happily surprised to find a whole host of characters just outside the gates of the park. Even better, no lines to visit them! It was very fitting (since we had just seen his show) that the first character we came across was Flik. He was very playful and just a tiny bit naughty.

Next up, time with Timon!

After a short wait at the stop and bus ride, we were back at the CSR.

We made our way up to our room and collapsed on our beds for a power nap.

Stitch was in for a surprise this night. More on that in the next installment. :wizard:

To be continued...

It is just so nice that you got to ride EE so many times and alone on KRR! It looked like Stitch got dried off quickly. Yak and Yeti sounds good. I really enjoy the lettuce cups at PF Chang's. I'm sure I'd like them at Y&Y.
You've got some great photos again. I especially like the ones with the characters.

Oh what fun you were having. Absolutely great pics. Stitch appears to have thouroughly enjoyed the day. What wonderful treat do you have in store for him tonite? I know it will be amazing.

I know there are those of us who being a parent is the most important job we have in this life and then you get grandkids and get to make up for any imperfection you might have had the first time around. Lucky me. I got that chance and it has just brought me that much closer to my 2 DD's.

We are now just 25 days out from our surprise trip. It is getting harder to keep the secret from the grandsons. My younger daughter and I have made all the plans and booked all our meals and are thinking of ways to tell her husband and her older sis on the big day. We (older daughter, younger daughter and me) talk/text every Saturday morning and we'll be flying so we will have to come up with a good excuse why we can't have our morning chat. Of course by that time older daughter's husband will have told her they are going to Disney (she just won't know we'll be joining her) and she will want to talk. A lot.... It's going to be interesting.

I am sure you deep in planning Goofy's big birthday. I know you will come up with a really fun time for him as well.
