Stitch vs. ITTBAB question

Hey everyone,
I'm going to the World in June, and I haven't been since March of 2004. I like Stitch and would like to try SGE, but I have some major concerns about it. Back in 2001, I went in ITTBAB at AK for the first (and last) time, and during the show I had a full-blown panic attack. I'm not sure if it was the sound of the doors slamming, the sound effects, the flashing lights, or all of it combined, but I have NEVER had a panic attack that bad before (and haven't since). I couldn't breathe, felt like my heart was going to explode, and almost passed out. I don't have them often (maybe 2x a year), and they're always associated with the situation, so it was indeed caused by that show. If I obviously can't go to that show again, would SGE be something I should avoid as well? I was 18 at the time and I'm 22 now, but my taste in rides and reaction to them hasn't really changed. I wouldn't say I'm claustrophobic; only time I get slightly nervous (but not having a panic attack) is situations such as what seems like 5 million people heading out of MK after either fireworks or Spectro (whichever's last); jam-packed and tight-quarter queue lines and the like never bother me.

For reference, the only rides and shows at WDW I haven't been on or to are Haunted Mansion (I just dislike the concept; too creepy for me, LOL), Dinosaur (my dad went on it years ago and said the noises and everything would freak me out), Space Mountain (hate the idea of being in the dark like that), Spaceship Earth (heard the descent back down is in the dark, so never went on it), Honey I Shrunk the Audience (afraid of similar experience to ITTBAB), Mission: Space (don't want to risk getting sick), Tower of Terror (I plan to try that this time), Rock n Roller Coaster (I get nauseous on inverted coasters), and Great Movie Ride (also plan to try that). I never went on Alien, btw. All other rides and shows at WDW don't bother me. Not Star Tours, Body Wars, Big Thunder Mountain, POTC, etc.

Any advice would be very much appreciated! :goodvibes

I have a step-daughter who is prone to panic attacks so I know what you are going through! I'm so sorry. My suggestion would be to skip SGE. Part of that show is in the dark, you are "pinned" down with the shoulder harness, there are some loud noises, and the seats are packed next to each other. If you are prone to claustrophia at all, it could bring on a panic attack.

My personal opinion is you are not missing much by not seeing SGE. I don't thing the Great Movie Ride will bother you, you should enjoy that one. Best of luck! :grouphug:

I agree with the other post. Based on what you said about other rides that bother you, I would say that Stitch would not be a good idea for you. You are held in your seat in the dark for almost the whole ride. Doesn't sound like it would be fun for you.
