Stitch ride

Stitch's Great Escape!
5 October 2004: Official Opening date

November 16 is now confirmed by Disney as being the official full opening date.

Soft opening previews are taking place between Tuesday 5th October and the full opening date.

4 October 2004: Guest testing

There is a good possibility that there may be some limited guest testing on Tuesday 5th October. Note that this is not guaranteed, and previews may be very limited, so don't expect to go there and be certain to see the attraction.

they also said that the construction wall has been taken down!
(they showed a photo!)

I so hope this is correct, and we can catch a soft opening. My dd wants to do this soooooooooooo bad.

Do you think they will have testing for guests on other dates besides 10/5?:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I was there last night and the permanent wall around it has been replaced by hedges on carts that can easily be moved. I would guess this is so they can easily open whenever they want to. I hope so anyway.

Oh, I hope they change their minds and open a few days early! Our last day in the park is November 13.......just a few days before their scheduled opening. Maybe they will change their minds and open the park as a special surprise for the Veteran's Day weekend crowds?!?!?! Do you think that is possible at all? Have they ever moved the opening date before for other attractions? Or have they always stuck with the announced dates?
:wave2:

I was wondering what type of ride this might be. I have no sense of balance and avoid any ride that requires a restraint. LOL

BTW, I was in Charlotte just a couple of weeks ago. I am sure I saw you as I got hopelessly lost and circled the town at least a dozen times. LOL

I will be on vacation at WDW that week. Would be nice to check-out the new Stitch ride. I bet the Lines will be horrible though ! YIKES ! :sunny:

SlightlyGoofy, this ride will not be very different from Alien Encounter (sitting down with an adjustable harness on your shoulders) just a little more kid friendly meaning that there won't be (such) scary sounds and motions. I always thought that AE didn't fit very well in the Disney scheme. I think they were trying to compete with attractions such as Terminator, etc.

gottaluvdis, was COP open when you were there? It is supposed to remain open until Stitch opens. We'll be there 11/4-11/6 and would really like to see it since it is usually closed when we are there.

I honestly don't know if COP was open or not. We didn't get over there. We were there for the MNSSHP and I didn't notice.

Hey SlightlyGoofy!
I waved to you! I was circling with you!
I agree......Charlotte roads get pretty crowded and crazy!

:wave2:

jmclester is correct about the type show. I have not seen it yet but did see the story board. Soft opening 10/18 maybe. That date can change at the last minute.

TLHB70, I am sorry I missed your wave. I was busy trying to figure out what the heck a service road was and then ending up on the wrong side of the interstate and not being able to find my way to the other side. It is hard being a hick in the big city. LOL

jmclester, my imagination is so powerful that I am not sure my heart could stand the preshow. LOL The Maelstrom is hard on me sometimes. (cluck cluck)

SlightlyGoofy, that's ok. That's why DW has things like Tomorrowland Transit Authority and Peter Pan (hope your not sqeimish on escalators or heights!!). Even my commando style, TOT, RnRC, Star Tours kids and I like to kick back on the good-n-slow rides. Dis wouldn't be the same without them!! Have fun!

jmclester, funny you should mention Peter Pan. I have never been on it and am thinking of trying it this time. While I am not nearly as bad off as the women who can never leave their house I have some serious issues and am only comfortable in certain situations. DW is one of them but I do not like to try new things. Is a control issue. LOL I thought I was merely agoraphobic and acrophobic but have found out that I am panophobic. (fear of all things) Hey, could we worse, I could be an axe murderer or something. The scariest ride at DW IMHO is the Millionaire hot seat and I have made that one two times. Getting better each time though. I lose about five pounds each try as I sweat buckets.

I agree about DW having something for everyone. However I am giving my sil tickets to Universal on our next trip so tha dd and I can enjoy DW, which is our speed, without his complaining. :)

Slightly Goofy

gonzette, not likely as the "official" opening is set for 11/16.

Slightly Goofy, yeah, it could be much worse!! I think the hotseat of Millionaire would be awful!! I was chosen to go onstage at USF's Alfred Hitchcock show (as the mother that does the stabbing). I had a cover on my face and had no speaking parts and I still was scared stiff to be in front of an audience!! Give yourself a pat on the back! If you're going to ride Peter Pan and you don't want it spoiled, don't read the next sentence:

When you first take off in the car it appears to be on a track underneath the car. As you get about 15 or so feet into the ride the bottom track ends and an overhead track takes over (to give you the sensation of flying). The first time I rode this ride I almost freaked when I saw the end of the track!! My wife, who is a big cluck cluck, still laughs at me when we ride it. That's the magic of Disney too.....making memories!pirate:

I had to jump in and say that Peter Pan is my favorite ride!!!!! I just LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:p

Yeah, especially the flying over London part. First rate, first class thrill rides are hard to compare to Disney's best!! Doesn't take much to bring out the kid in me!!::MickeyMo

jmclester, the "spoiler" is just fine with me. I like to know how things are working. Not sure I could handle the transiition from the rails to the overhead thing though. I can ride many things at DW that I could not otherwise cause I just plain trust them.

I will report back if I take the plunge and try PP. The idea of being able to see London is very tempting.

SG/Linda

SGoofy, If I remember correctly, someone jump in if I'm wrong, you are actually suspended from overhead the whole time. The rail thing underneath is just to keep the car in place as they are loading and unloading. Disney put the twist in that gives you the illusion of running out of track. I don't know if it was intentional or not but it had me fooled!! Give it a try, you'll be fine, and it will definitely be worth braving.
