I just looked at the passholder site and saw that the new Stitch Encounter ride is going to have preview dates announced at the end of August. We'll be there 9/23-9/28. That would be so cool to be there during a preview date.

Do you know if this will be open only to Annual Passholders? We'll be ther September 5-10 and I was really hoping they would have one of those "soft openings." My kids love that movie.

It does specifically state that "passholders will be invited..." so I am assuming they will restrict it and check.

I thought it was going to bad enough just waiting for this trip, now I feel like I'm going to burst if I have to wait until the end of August to find out when these dates are. Here's to hoping there a few well-timed information leaks.

I am so envious of you guys! We won't be back to the House of Mouse until the first week of Feb. I am hoping for an AP soft opening for It's a Small World. I will just have to be content reading the Disboards until then.

Well, that's a bummer.

Maybe I'll charm the CM and flash my DVC membership card and he'll let us in.

Although it is nice to know that AP holders get perks, too. If we don't get in this September we won't get to see it until December 2005-a long time to wait!

It will oficially be open sometime in October '04. So you're safe.

Haven't heard much about the ride itself. However, I would think that because they report that it is tamer than Alien Encounter, that if you guys were OK with watching the movie, than you'll be OK with the ride.

I wanted to know this too since Alien's height restriction was 44", I emailed Disney but they said they didnt (or maybe couldn't) give me this info yet. DS will be almost-3 on our Dec trip (turns 3 in Jan) and there's no way he's growing that much by then LOL.

It depends on whether they still use the restraint devices from Alien Encounter. If they do, the height restriction will be the same. I'm betting that they don't, in which case I don't see any need for a height restriction.

We checked with Disney, and there's no official word yet on either a preview or soft-open date. There may be some sort of "grand opening" event, but we're told those plans are in the very early stages right now.

Hopefully we'll know more later this month.

I was thinking that Alien was 48". If it was 44" then we will be in good shape because I think my little guy will be 44" with shoes by our next visit.

DDs are huge Stitch fans! I will cross my fingers that we will be able to preview this some time during our trip. When WDW normally does soft AP openings, is it usually a full month in advance, or a week, or more?

I'm not positive about Alien's height limit was, but I know that the same restraints are there. I would presume that the height limit would be the same as before though.

From an old "Unofficial Guide" the height restriction for Alien was 44".
