Stitch Fix?

No, I'm not talking about Lilo's alien pal. Has anyone ever tried Stitch Fix for clothes shopping? I never much enjoyed shopping for clothes even before the pandemic and have gotten so out of the habit of shopping that I don't like that thought of going back to the stores. I could use some new things though; it's been...a long time...since I replenished my wardrobe and some things are getting well-worn. I work "in-person" and have to look respectable.

Stitch Fix looks like it might work for me. Has anyone had any experience with it?

I use it! I think it’s very overpriced, but I usually keep one item from each box. I only get 4 boxes a year. The things I’ve kept have become favorites. It’s extremely easy to make returns and they’re very open to feedback. Overall I’ve been pleased with it.

I loved Stitch Fix - notice the past tense. LOL Their stylist were so spot on with my picks that I was buying almost the whole box every time, I had to cancel. The items are a tad pricey - but they're nice and excellent quality.

I used to use it, probably for about two years I received a box monthly. I usually kept at least one item each time. Echoing the others, it got to be expensive and I think I quit in 2018 maybe?? I think about starting it up again for the same reason - I realized I had purchased no new clothes other than pajamas since 2019 :rotfl:

Many of my go-to clothes are Stitch Fix! All of my jeans are from past boxes.

I think I'm going to give it a shot. I'll start out with the 4 times a year option. That way I'll only be out $80 even if I don't like anything. I just need to be sure to remember to send back what I don't want!

I have been doing Stitch Fix for YEARS! I get boxes when I need to replenish my wardrobe. I love their clothes and styles. Things wash well and last a long time. I always get compliments on my Stitch Fix clothes!!

I have used it in the past but as others have said, it does get pricey. I love all the items I've gotten from them though! I always got sucked into keeping the whole box even if there was one item I didn't love, because it was cheaper than sending it back. But great quality, super cute stuff.

My friend loved it too, but she had to cut costs over this year. She’s now looking into doing Trunk Club or Amazon Wardrobe. I don’t have any experience because I like shopping 😳

I used it for about 15 months. Was interested mainly because I'm petite, which drastically limits my shopping options and I thought my wardrobe style was in a rut.

Loved first box, kept all 5 items including a dress I loved and my first pair of skinny jeans.

Next box, different "designer" and there were a couple of things I didn't love but kept for the discount. I kept tweaking my profile and adding pictures I liked to my "board".

Third box, another new designer but I kept most of it including a dress that was cut on the same pattern as first one but made out of a weird fabric (wore it a couple of times but donated). Again, lots of feedback as to why I returned what I did.

For next box, (early spring), I asked for a spring jacket and summer tops "not sleeveless". They sent me 3 sleeveless tops, a pair of tap shorts (short-short) and an army green Anorak. I was 65 years old!...tap shorts were NOT in my profile! And you don't wear an anorak in Florida. I truly think some smart aleck 20 year old thought my feedback was too picky and was trying to teach me a lesson by sending the ugliest box she could. I sent them all back with a scathing note and told them to STOP my subscription.

I got several emails trying to get me to try them again....offer of no fee, etc. Some manager even called me to try to convince me. But, I'd had it. It was too much work for disappointing results. Plus, I found them expensive and some of the the tops were raveling and coming apart at the seams.

So, I'm back to Talbot's petites and my boring style.

How are we talking about stitch fix without talking about style shuffle? I look forward to it every day even if I have not scheduled a box.

YES! Also, I find it helps my stylist get a feel for what I like. I also use their wishlist feature and have gotten items from that list from time to time. I love that they changed the style shuffle question to "would you wear this" instead of "is this your style" because I joined Stitch Fix primarily to broaden my style and try things I wouldn't normally gravitate towards. So fun!

I’ve used Stitch Fix on and off since they were beta in 2012, and I’m also a stockholder. I use Style Pass ($49/year) to get as many fixes as I’d like with no styling fee. I’m a person who can spend hours trying on clothes at the mall and still leave with NOTHING! Stitch Fix saves me so much time. I recommend it for anyone who doesn’t have the time or energy to shop.

I tried stitch fix and it was not a success for me. Out of 3 boxes I kept one dress and one pair of shoes. I tried different stylists, I gave very specific feedback as well. There were a couple things I did like and considered keeping but when I googled them they were seriously last season fashion but charging full price. I did get a box for my 11 year old daughter and she loved it so we kept that whole box. But that was the extent of our interest in stitch fix. We might try one of the other boxes at some point but I’ll just stick with online shopping.

My experience was similar to yours, even when I explicity said there were items I didn't want to be sent, they sent them. I ended up with a couple of things I liked, but overall I found it very expensive, and often missed the mark completely. Expensive is okay if it checks all the other boxes.

I tried it a few times years ago. I liked a couple items (one sweater is still a favorite cardigan that goes with some tops I have), but for the quality it can be a bit overpriced. Last year I didn’t buy much of any clothes, so now I’m freshening my wardrobe with some nice basics from J Jill and Athleta that fit me nicely. Currently wearing a new lightweight pullover and ankle jeans from J Jill.

It is fun, but you have to really specify colors you like, I said no shoes (they sent me some sneakers once but those went back). They sent jeans a couple of times, but they never fit right so I said just tops, jackets or sweaters from then on.

I have been with them for about 3 years now. I get about 3-4 boxes a year and occasionally something out of their new "shop by catagories." They can be pricey. I have been very lucky because I have had the same stylist for the entire time and she has my taste nailed! I was very specific from the get go and they have always honored it. (No sleeveless and shorts with a certain length inseam.) Once or twice they have sent me a dress that is sleeveless but my stylist always includes a cardigan when she does that. I don't know what it is, but when I need new clothes and I try going to the store-I rarely find flattering clothes. It is a frustrating experience for me. But I order a Stitch Fix box, and their stuff looks good on me! Fingers crossed it continues! But I do think MUCH of the luck comes down to the stylist.
