Stinky kitchen drains

No idea, mine are too. I always thought it was because our Garbage disposal broke a few months ago and there was stuff stuck in there. Sometimes I'll put a little bleach down there and it cleans it up.

pour baking soda down the drain. with the drain stopper ready in one hand, pour vinegar down the drain. as fast as you can, put the drain stopper on. flush with water. repeat as necessary.

always works for me. :sunny:

I use a used lemon...half of it that has been squeezed. Just let the garbage disposal grind it up. Works for us!

:guilty: No garbage disposal either......

(doesn't that smilie look more like he's dejected than guilty???)

Pour bleach down them. It works for me.

Pour some baking soda in it, let it sit and rinse later. Lemon also works and vinegar should too.

Baking soda is a miracle worker. I always take the fridge box out the day of our vacation and dump it into the kitchen sink drain. I don't come home to a stinky sink.

For people with disposals, I also will grind up a handful of ice cubes every so often. It helps dislodge all the nasty encrusted gunk that can smell bad. If you've ever had to go fishing in the drain for the fork your husband put in the wrong side of the sink (after being requested not to do this at least 800,000 times) you know what I mean.

We throw lemons and oranges down there and let the disposal chop them all up. I also heard that vinegar works.

We pour bleach down there. And we always pour it when we leave to go out of town.

I put bleach down the drain and grind orange rinds in the garbage disposal. I have something really gross and slimy on the edges of my drain though, and the bleach didn't get rid of it. I took some of it out with tweezers and it seems to be a slimy mold. Anybody know why this is in my drain and how to get rid of it? Would it be grease because sometimes I drain my ground beef down the sink drain but it's such a little amount I didn't think it would hurt.
