Ok so on our recent trip to the world we did the Ohana breakfast and noticed that this time instead of loading up the big plate with waffles, they had a server just bring them to the table and give you one waffle at a time. As everyone knows Mickey waffles are the best and I found it strange that they were being stingy with the waffles.

So my question is this, is it a permanent thing or was it just a slow waffle day at Ohana?

On our last trip to Ohana for breakfast the server had just one waffle per person on the original platter for us. We did ask for more and she brought out I think two. Which were plenty for us.

I wouldn't think they were being stingy with the waffles. Probably more like not wanting them to be wasted. If you need or want more, just ask for them.

They didn't even put waffles on the platter, they were handed to us out of a basket. In the past the waffles always were put on the platter, but this time there was a CM walking around with a basket of waffles giving them out. The regular server could not get us waffles, we actually had to wait for the person with the basket to bring them to us. Strange.

We ate at O'hana's for breakfast on 8/11 and the Mickey waffles were not served in the same skillet as the rest of the food. Our server brought them over seperately. When we asked for more, the server brought more.

That happened to us on May 16th.

We kept looking & looking for the "waffle guy" so that DS9 could get a waffle.
The other 7 of us were pretty much done with our meals by the time poor DS9 got a waffle (he does not like eggs or bacon, so the waffles were pretty much it for him). DS didn't mind waiting though.

Otherwise, we had a great meal & loved it there!!

DS loved it there so much that he chose "Ohana for our breakfast on Christmas morning!! :santa:

Hey,

I think that there is just too much food being wasted. With free dining, some people take more than they need and then figure that if they don't eat it, it was free anyway so who cares?--which is really sad. I'm not saying that you would do that.
I've done free dining once--I stress once--and overheard more than a few people, with the it's OK to waste it attitude. It's too bad, beacuse it ruins it for people who are really hungry.

Hope you had a great trip anyway!

Daisyduck123 - We love Ohanas too and it would be a great way to start Christmas day at the world.

Pirate at Heart - I sure wish we were lucky enough to score free dining, but we haven't been to the world at a time when it was offered, so we paid for each meal. Making sure not to waste food is just fine, but the only item that was being protected was the mickey waffles and those are the best thing on the menu. :thumbsup2

Hi Just wanted to say I LOVE your picture! That was such a GOOD movie! Joan

They were doing that in July already, it's not a free dining thing.

The lady gave me 2 and said to ask any server if we wanted more. The good thing was, they were warm this time & not cold like they had been in December back when they served them in the skillet with the rest of the stuff.

We ate breakfast at Ohana in late April/beginning of May, and they weren't on the skillet then. A server was walking around with them.

I definitely don't think this is a free DDP and/or stingy thing. I think, like others have said, it's to cut back on waste and improve customer satisfaction by giving them out HOT and FRESH!!!!

Yum!!!

OT question to Xnascar2x

The Cars stars photos in your siggy, is that from a recent trip to MGM? The hubby would LOVE to have his photos taken with Mater and Stickers (and me, too ... shhhhh).

Care to share what part of the park they're in if you've been recently?

On another thread, I read that the waffles were gluten free?
Not sure if that is correct, but if it is correct, then handing them out would prevent cross contamination.

Yes the McQueen photo is from our Aug 07 trip. McQueen and Mater can be found at Disney MGM Studios.

Here's a picture of Mater:

That's awesome! We're heading down in two weeks. I'll keep my eye out.

We only got one to start with, but we asked for more and had no problem getting them. They were brought out by a server who was taking them to the tables, he had a basketful.

I was wondering the OHANA is this the breakfast with LILO AND STITCH, we have not done this and in Dec, it will be a new treat for my son(loves Stitch)
:cool1:

If I had to guess, I'd say that's the key. Waffles are one type of food that severely degrades pretty fast. That is, the difference between a cold, rubbery waffle and a hot, crisp one is night and day. So if what they're bringing out is truly fresh, then I'm all for it! :yay:
