I heard a while back on the evening news some retailers were thinking of giving bonuses when you purchase using part of the stimulus check. Is this true, and if so, do you know of any national retailers/stores offering "bonuses"?

A local grocery store is offering a bonus if you bring in your stimulus check to cash, or proof of direct deposit. If you buy gift cards, they will add 10% to the total. (The store is Glens, just in case anyone in Northern MI reads this! :))

sears is offering it. An extra 10% I think the gift cards can also be used at Kmart.

Do you have to cash your check there, or just bring proof of direct deposit?

You're just a few weeks ahead of me in your pregnancy! Hope you're feeling well! :flower3: Of couse, we're old pros by now!

I also saw that KMart is doing the extra 10% but I'm pretty sure the ad said it was for paper checks only.

Kroger and Meijer are both giving 10% extra on gift card purchases of $300, $600 or $1200.

My mom said that Acme supermarkets is now offering $30 extra if you buy a $300 gift card to their store. She was thinking about doing it.

shop n save in St. Louis, Mo is doing this up to $1200 we get an extra $120.00. Can't wait for the check to arrive so I can get some groceries.

Shoprite is also doing 10 % up to $120 off $1200 in gift cards. You can bring a print-out showing direct deposit. I may do a portion, but don't really want to have $1200 in gift cards.

It looks like the Kmart/Sears/Lands End deal is for paper checks only. You have to buy gift cards equal to the full amount of your check, and they will kick in 10% extra.

Regarding Kroger's offer:

- You do not have to have a check, nor do you have to buy an amount equal to your rebate.

- At least at my store, the deal is that you can buy up to 4 cards. Each card is for $330 and you pay $300 per card.

- You can get one card, two cards, or four cards. Maybe you can get three cards, not sure.

- My understanding was that you don't have to get them all at once. The only rule was that there is a "limit" of 4 cards per Kroger customer card. I got them all at once, but I had the impression from the manager that you could get them at separate times until the promotion ends.

If you cash your check there, they will give you 10% more on a gift card. They only use the $600 figure, so maybe it is capped at that.

There is a limit of $1200 per kroger card but if for some reason you wanted to do more than $1200, another card can be had easily. And you can get them until the promo ends. I just did a $300 one and they said I could still do up to $900 more.

And neither Meijer or Kroger require any type of proof of your stimulus payment. Meijer you just buy the GC at the register and a catalina coupon pops out for the 10% bonus. At Kroger you buy the GC at CS and it auto-deducts the extra added on the card when you scan your Kroger card.

HTH!

So if I get a GC at Kroger it deducts the extra???:confused3 I asked last week and the girl at CS did not know how it worked! If I get a $300 GC, is it $330.00? I don't understand why they would deduct the extra.

you ask for a $300 GC, they imput it as $330 and the system takes off the extra $30 owed on it's own and you pay $300.

They way our Krogers did it on the receipt was you buy a $330 Gift card and then deducted $30 from the price. Just so you know, if you have a Krogers Gas station, the gift card works there as well (at least it did at ours). They are allowing you to buy up to 4 cards during the promotion. I plan on using up the first card then buying the next one.

When does the promotion end?
