Still waiting on resale at BCV

It has been 28 days since we purchased our 1st DVC at BCV. We still have not heard whether Disney is exercising their ROFR or not. I emailed Shontell today, and am still waiting to hear back on what is going on. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Instead of using e-mail give them a call. When I went through this same process, I decided to call after waiting a couple of weeks. I was suprised to hear that ROFR had been passed a few days earlier. Perhaps this is what has happened in your case, the contract has passed ROFR and no one has yet contacted you.

We just bought a resale through the Timeshare Store. It had been about 5 weeks since we submitted everything, and we were told to wait about 5-6 weeks. We were surprised when I called just to check in at 5 weeks that we had passed ROFR and they had emailed our closing paperwork to us a week prior. They had the wrong email address on file for us, so we never got it. We were told that Disney has been turning things around quickly lately, so I would definitely call and check.

Heard from Shontell today. Supposedly Disney responded with "they are still within their 30 days". The 30 day mark is this Friday, so it will be interesting to see what happens here.

You could read that DVC reply two ways. My hunch is that if they really wanted the contract, they would have acted on it by this point ... confirmation that they have not could be construed as a good thing. However, I certainly can see that it's also possible that Disney couldn't make an immediate decision when they first reviewed the contract and they are giving it a second look.

What are the parameters of your contract (ie: location, point cost, special contract provisions)?

I don't think it is real appealing to them. It is for 200 points at BCV, Feb use year. $75 per point.

We recently purchased our first DVC points at BWV through Shontell (also a Feb use year). Disney accepted our offer in about 10 days and Shontell let us know immediately. We closed on our purchase in 5 weeks and will be in Disney's system in the next day or two. 28 days seems like a long time just to get Disney's approval...

That is why I am so concerned. I can't figure it out. Seems like everyone else on this board has passed ROFR quickly (2 weeks). We are biting our nails waiting. It is my understanding that after 30 days it passes by default, right?

I'd be very surprised if DVC exercised their right of first refusal on a $75 per point contract, even if it is BCV.

Unless you have some other concessions in the purchase agreement (like seller paying the closing costs or seller not being reimbursed for the 2004 annual dues (assuming there are 2004 points), then you are very likely to get some good news on Friday or Monday.

If they don't respond at all after 30 calendar days, then the property is yours by default.

I disagree with JeffPort on this, It is the BCV which is very hard to get as a resale, so I kinda see DVC looking at this one to buy back. But I hope they don't for you. Good luck

I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. I know that is easy for me to say...but last year I was in your position as well, and it took Disney all 30 days to finally pass. Since then, I have seen a lot of folks on this board that have taken 30 days and a lot that have passed within 2 weeks. I know when mine took a long time, Disney was having some staffing issues with the persons desk it landed on. It just may be that the person assigned to review your contract is behind and will get to look at it sometime this week. Now that I think about it, I remember being really parinoid thinking that Disney was messing with me because I was not buying direct from them!! Now I know that is silly and it was just the luck of the draw. Good luck with it, and hang in there - just a few days left!!!
