Still time to trade for a HI II?

Would I have any chance to trade for an II property on any of the Hawaiian Islands for either the last week of July or first week of August? Do most of you who have done this put in your request over a year or more in advance? I haven't even considered this as a way to use pts before now.

As of right now all I see worth considering for next summer (May to Sept), is one single unit, a studio at Ko'Olina. I would think there would be a chance but it's likely you'd not match until around 2 months out. If air is an issue you may want to look at another year or simply plan the trip with a cancelable hotel or condo backup in case you don't match.

All i can tell you is that in February, I put in a request for a 1BR at Marriott Ko'Olina for any Saturday in October, 2009 and I still have not gotten a match. I know tourism is down, but I was hoping to get a match around 11 or 12 months out, and nothing yet. Trying to be patient.

It's early yet. MOST Marriott deposits are done at or after 12 months and then are only available to other II Marriott members for 24 days. You're window is just opening, I think you have an excellent chance given the slower time of year combined with the economy issues.
