We visited Fort Wilderness on our stay on the 4th of July. We stopped in at Trail's End and got lunch. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles.

I'm still thinking about how good the waffles were and strangely I am not even a waffle person. I think the syrup was exceptionally good. For all I know it was cheap every day grocery store syrup but I don't know why this meal still stands out to me!

Wow, I've already had dinner and dessert tonight and you have me craving this. I will surely try chicken and waffles when I am there. Thanks for giving me yet another thing to look forward to.

:rotfl: glad to give you something to look forward to! It was really good and we just ended up there by accident really.

My DH really liked the chili there as well. We wanted to try the smores dessert but were WAY too full to even try it.

I think I am just having a craving for syrup. Dh just offered to make me french toast but somehow I don't think it's going to be the same. (and NO I am not pregnant! :rotfl:)

My DW and I went there for lunch in April and were talked into them by our waiter. We had never had them before. They were so good we brought our three kids back for them the next day.

When you have lunch there, can you use your refillable mug for drinks or do they make you purchase a drink?

I probably would have never even thought to try them had you guys not talked them up so much. I know this is very popular with my black friends who talk all the time about chicken and waffles. I wouldn't have even brought up that they were black, but wanted to point out the potential, cultural significance.

But I guess it's not so different than a dish I used to get at Bennigans (restaurant chain that closed down years ago). They used to serve a Monte Cristo Sandwich, however, they would take the ham and swiss, bread it with a waffle-like batter, deep fry it and serve it with strawberry preserves. It's like, breakfast, lunch and dessert in the same dish.
