An update..and probably a little rant as well!!
So our 2 bags were lost by AC on our way to MCO.
Like the good little travelers we are, we filled out baggage claims, and all that other stuff...and waited....and waited...and called the "Central Baggage Office"...
Which is located in - you guessed it - India.
Apparently, Air Canada and about 20 other airlines have formed this company called "World Tracer" that is responsible for dealing with passengers with missing luggage.
Which is fine...except the call centre employees know nothing about the process of filing a claim for a lost bag...how to trace a lost bag...or even how far YYZ is from MCO. (Yep, we were told we could drive from MCO to YYZ and look for our bags ourselves. When we asked how long they thought that would take, one CSR actually responded.."perhaps 30 minutes?")
Sooooo...this is a long post, sorry, but I have to vent!
Here's what we were told by the call centre:
1)after 24 hours, we could claim $100USD per bag in "hardship fees"
2)after 5 days, fill out the baggage claim forms, and you will be reimbursed up to $600USD/bag
3)EVEN if your bags are found, we will be compensated.
Fine.
We filled out 5 pages of itemized lists, approximate values of items, photocopied receipts, and I wrote a letter cc to Robert Milton, and the Chair of the WT Group in Atlanta, GA. (I also suggested that at check in , they print off another scan tag and put that inside your suitcase. A tag gets ripped off, all they have to do is open the bag, scan the inserted tag and VOILA! No more cranky customers like me!!LOL)
So AC calls DH at work today. WooHoo! they found our ba.....Nope.
They got our letter.
Someone read it today.
She thought we sounded a little upset, so she thought she better call and apologize for the call centre's incorrect "assumptions"
Huh?
1)After 24 hours,we should have claimed for $100USD PER PERSON, not per bag. That would have helped with a few more pairs of underwear!!LOL
2)The bag tracing has only begun TODAY!!!! They haven't been looking for our bags at all!!
2)After 100 days FROM TODAY, if they still haven't found our stuff, we will be compensated, depending on the assessment of our list.
3)If they have found our stuff, no compensation within 100 days, they'll try to get it to us "when they can"
So the call centre is still wrong, I still don't have all our summer stuff...and I'm still CRANKY!!
So help me, if any of my undies show up at a flea market in the GTA, I'm gonna be irate!
*sigh*
Thank you...at least it wasn't with Jetsgo.
