Hi All:

Well it's probably just me adjusting to this new era in my life but I find it really warm to sleep at the resorts on Disney Property. The worst is AKL. We stay mostly at SSR and that gets warm as well. I have tried the thing to lower the temp but couldn't make it work. We are heading down in the end of Aug and I would really, really like to find a solution to this problem. In January I slept with the patio door open at AKL, that time of the year it was ok, but having been in August before I know what the heat is like and an open door is not an option. The upside is that this is probably the last year we will have to go in August but for this year if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks a bunch,

Wendy:flower3:

Are you saying you could not get the air conditioning to work or it was not enough to keep you cool?

My DH likes his rooms really COLD and we have nit had any problems at Disney...How cold do you mean?

We can never get the temp lower than 65 degrees, which for me is too warm to sleep. I like it really really cold. Pop Century was equally as bad as AKL as well.

Everyone who came to the rooms to try to help us said, sorry A/C can't go lower than 65 degrees.

Lower than 65!! You do like it cold. I usually find the rooms way to cold to sleep and usually have to phone mousekeeping for another blanket. I joked to the DD's last year at POP that we could freeze water on the bed!!
I can see it being a safety feature so that Disney does not go broke with lots of people setting the thermostats to low.
We keep our house at 68 all year and in the summer I am wearing a sweater!!

I have never seen a place that goes lower than 65...Sorry.

Try overriding it! Here are the steps:

First, make yourself acquainted with the thermostat.

#2 Press the Power/On-Off button and the Fan/On-Auto buttons (the top two buttons) at the same time.

#3 Press the Power/On-Off button and the Down Arrow (as indicated above) at the same time.

#4 If you do this correctly, "bp" will appear on the readout.

#5 You can then adjust the temperature to your desired setting.

This should last for 3-4 days....then you'll have to reset it again.

Hope this helps! :flower3:

We are the same, can't take a room that is much over 60F. Like DisneyFreak89 says, override the system. We stay at the BCV and always bring the temp down to either 60 or 59.

Is there an overhead fan? Keep it going all night, and make sure it's going in the right direction to give a draft! (just the circulation of air seems to make it easier to breathe)

If you bring your own fan with you, and can find a safe spot to leave it going all night, put a basin of ice in front of it. (a friend swears by this, I have not tried it myself)

I'm not a fan of putting the AC on ultracold --too much of a contrast between outside and inside ---

I also have all blankets off the bed, and just sleep with the top sheet on me.
And I routinely turn the pillow over to find a cool spot!

Perhaps some of this might make a difference to you as well!

Wow you do like it cold! Hubby and I usually cool up the room when we get back then either turn off the AC or set it extremely low just to keep the room at a 'comfortable' temp. One year we had to place a note for the Mousekeepers to please not change the settings. They kept on making it FREEEZING in the room lol
