Still Feeding Nebo: The may trip final chapter pg 122, Dec. 31

Maraena, you did a great job breaking down my last chapter, and I appreciate all your comments. But if I try to breakdown all of your breakdowns, I'd probably have a breakdown. By the way, still think Smidgy is "demure and innocent?"

"There's a calm surrender, to the rush of day, when the heat of a rolling wind, can't be turned away,,,,,,,,,,,,,"

Hey, I had a great time breaking it down. I had a down day (as in less than busy) so I got to thoroughly enjoy and reply to your report. Plus, I got to get the funneh stuff in before everyone else did for a change.

Of course I still think Smidgy is demure and innocent! So am I! It takes a true lady to know when to turn on the charm and when to open a can of whoop...you can finish that one. I've got a feeling that Smidgy is just that kind of person. My guess she has to be to live with you! :flower3: Much love in that statement, by the way. You two seem like great folks.

You and I have one thing in common. No, I'm not left handed. I used to be amphibious but my parents kept putting things in my right hand. But my normal temperature is about 97.5. If I'm at 98.6, then I have a fever, and can't stop shaking.

I, too, was 'amphibious'. Then I broke my right arm right at the age when I was learning to write. I still have about equal strength in both hands but have a strong left-hand dominance. I broke my left wrist 2 months after my right arm and didn't switch back. I'm sure you would've never guessed it, but I was a very 'willful' child. :rotfl2: My mom kept trying to get me to be right-handed but I refused.

The temperature thing has always been interesting, particularly since I'm bad about going to the doctor regularly. Typically, I go when I'm sick and, with the exception of the doctors I had as a child and teen that my mother chose, I often like to go to a new one each time. So, when I go in and I have a temperature of 99.5 or maybe even 100, they tell me how I have a slight fever. Depending on how badly I feel and/or the likelihood of me getting a shot, I may or may not tell them that the temp is unusually high. :rolleyes1

Anyhow, ya'll have a lovely Thanksgiving. Not sure if Chicago is getting the snow yet, but it's been coming down here most of the morning. Sure wish the weather could've stayed in the 70's like the previous two days, but I guess I have to tolerate at least one more cold winter before I move south.

um. that's what Nebo would say where Karaoke is concerned. truth be told... he has a voice to melt a young girl's heart (and even an old gal like me).
he's not one to brag, so I will. my fav.... "rainy night in georgia" (brook benton). he also does a mean "poor side of town". "north to alaska" "16 tons" another bobby rydell song (I think) "forget him". I could go on and on, quite a repertoire... (ok, I can't sing, but at least SOMEONE in the family can spell!!!!:lmao: )
I USED to think I could sing. but a karaoke guy at the Moose lodge recorded us both. nebo played it on our last trip down. he sounded great.. I sounded... um .. so much for "girls just want to have fun!" gee , I really thought I sounded at least a little better than that! sigh:sad2:
but I still love doing duets with nebo. and it IS fun.
paranthetical aside: once many moons ago, we were sitting at the bar watching an all important playoff game. (no jukebox allowed ,important). steve says to me "want to dance?" "um, no music honey... game on?" nebo replies with "no problem!" (tee hee, actually he said "don't worry" but I couldn't resist:rotfl: )
we get up to dance with no music and he sings "always and forever" in my ear while we dance. double sigh, with a swoon:hug: .:cloud9:

Wow! Nebo's a softy, romantic at heart. So sweet. You captured my very real fear of karoake too - my voice being recorded for posterity and then posted all over youtube and the like for people to make fun of and remember me as. Not only would I be subjected to taunts by my coworkers and colleagues, but nothing I ever did afterwards would have any merit beyond my rendition of 'I'm a Little Tea Pot'.:scared1:

Hey, I used to be amphibious too! I cut off my middle finger in kindergarten so for 3 months I had to write with my left hand. For several years I could use both, but now my great talent has left me.:rotfl2:

Wait, he's moving her in with you? And you won't be there? Uh oh, oy vey, egads, and damn the torpedoes. You realize your whole kitchen will be rearranged, don't you? AHahahah, I'm just kidding, right? RIGHT?

No. Fortunately DH is the cook in the house. She is a huge reason why...he is an only child and she was an excellent cook. I was brought up eating On-cor. (Frozen crap.)

She has cleaned my house before.

As long as she keeps with the main living areas and stays outta my stuff I'm ok with it.

He will be home to make sure she does not wreak havoc in my house. Her boy shi'tzu is not fixed, neither is my girl shi'tzu. He said he is staying home to make sure he doesn't come home to a pregnant dog

Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!! It was in the low 70's here today---wow, Maraena, can't believe you have snow! Where are you? Of course, tomorrow it's supposed to only be in the 40's here....

I actually can still write with my right hand. It's not as fast as my left, but it's actually a far neater print than my left. Go figure.

I'm a bit west of you. I still haven't seen any yellow brick road yet but my DBf likes to tell tourists that he ate Toto.

It's really not snowing hard to stick (that, coupled with the mid 70 temps of the past two days). I believe my grandma would've called it 'spittin'. So, it's basically spittin snow outside. I've heard that Nebraska had about 2-3 inches as of early afternoon, though.

Good grief! You were almost over on page 3--can't let that happen! Just sitting here pooped from shopping and thought I would check in....No, I didn't get up early for the madness, but I did send DH to Target at 5:30 a.m. for a TV for my parents (theirs went out Monday). He said the cops were there for crowd control!:scared1: I went with my mom and DD about 10:30 am just to get out and about. Hope none of you guys here got run over in a mad rush today!

Nebo and Smidgy, I got a question for ya...

you two have ADR's for Thursday night (12/13) anywhere?

My enquiring mind never stops...

btw...got any updates for us?

Just checking in!! I'm all caught up,
FINALLY
and can't wait for more!!
yes I'm impatient!!popcorn:: :surfweb:

I'm so far behind, it's embarrassing. But. I just stopped by to say.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEVE!!!

7.gif

What? It's Nebo's birthday? Oh, this explains SOOooo much now. Particularly, that rather odd resemblance that my DBf and you seem to share, personality-wise. (Hair-wise too, for that matter! :lmao:)

Well, happy birthday! I hope you have a great celebration of some sort! I guess that means no updates for a bit too.

P.S. Smidgy's birthday isn't in March, is it? Naaah, that'd be too coincidental.

Nebo, love the Jim Croce references. My all time fav since 1st grade when my teacher would play his You Don't Mess Around With Jim album everyday during rest period. I think I have every album he ever made. One of my biggest regrets of all time is when we were in San Diego and didn't go to his wife's restaurant, Croce's.

Jill
Hold it. A teacher is trying to get a bunch of 1st graders to rest, and plays You don't mess around with Jim? What? No Kung fu Fighting? I think my biggest regret is the choice of planes he made.

Hello, I followed you over here, from disneydad bragging about your report, nice to see someone else from the area writing a report...still on page 5 when you were getting to cincy, you passed my house within a mile, when you were traveling down I-65. Next time stop and pick me up, i wanna go back to disney.

Hey DisneyDan, nice to meetcha. I can't figure out Disneydad to save my life. He seems to still like me, no matter how sarcastic I am. I do have a picture that may change all that, if I post it on his thread, though. Ok, be packed and ready to go, we should be coming down next tuesday on 65 sometime around daybreak. It'll be the maroon Santa Fe.

Good idea! I had not thought of advancing it first. Probably a good thing that most do not have that anymore!
No, now we have to stand there and act like an idiot, trying to "conduct" this box on the wall to make it blow.
dismorgh - :teacher:

dis :disrocks:
morg - kinda nickname from teenage years
h - hubby

so there you have it. Not very creative, but original.

Have a great Thanksgiving!! :goodvibes
I think it would have been great if you had been told that screen name had already been taken.

Now that is a great neboism! :rotfl2:

Hi Uncle. I'll tell you a great "Scroogeism". The fact that you have been a member for almost 7 years and don't even have 70 posts! Now THAT"S funny. It's like you post twice a year, whether you need to or not. Thanks for stopping in Uncle, hurry back.

That "youtube" thing sounds dangerous. I can just picture myself being in a karaoke mood after a few manhattans and sticking a couple of my songs on there. Good thing I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to do that.

Hey, I used to be amphibious too! I cut off my middle finger in kindergarten so for 3 months I had to write with my left hand. me.:rotfl2:

Hey out there, is it just me? Please reread winkers quote above. Doesn't it sound like she had to wait 3 months for her finger to grow back, and then she was ok? :confused3

No. Fortunately DH is the cook in the house. She is a huge reason why...he is an only child and she was an excellent cook. I was brought up eating On-cor. (Frozen crap.)
Um, what's wrong with On Cor?

He will be home to make sure she does not wreak havoc in my house. Her boy shi'tzu is not fixed, neither is my girl shi'tzu. He said he is staying home to make sure he doesn't come home to a pregnant dog
Can we have a female?

It had just better be nice when we come through, that's all I'd need, to hit a snow storm coming down that steep grade on 24 into Chattanooga. I WILL hold you personally responsible.

I'm so far behind, it's embarrassing. But. I just stopped by to say.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEVE!!!

Well Melinda, I don't know how you knew, but you hit the day right on the head. Thank you. And yes, for inquiring minds, I'm 53 now, but I don't look a day over 52 and a half. Ok, new update either later tonight or tomorrow, probably tomorrow, not sure if I'm going to be able to type a little later on. :rolleyes1

HAPPY Birthday, NEEB!!!!!!!!

I can't believe i missed the Karaoke segment! It sounds like you had a blast! Good Times.

"No Problem," and it's variations, "No Problemo" etc. kind of bug me too. I demand "Your Welcome" come back in vogue.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely saving this for posterity. Don't want any fancy edits getting in there to correct all those drunken Neboisms!
